Welcome to the Redskins Antonio Gandy-Golden, WR Liberty

To be fair, they have traded away a lot of high picks in the last 15 years. Does change things a bit. -

But before the season is done without a ton of depth? He messed up, or wasn't focused on football or I don't know. Staff in full evaluation mode now. It's one way of getting them to play out the season with effort. Always harder to get another job in the NFL when you're already on the street when the season is over. -

What a disappointment. Here's hoping Dyami Brown does something next year. -
If Chase played like Maxx Crosby he'd be top of the league. There's nothing wrong with this D. The players just aren't up to snuff. Remember when Collins moved to LB and Curl played more? Remember when Bostic was hurt and we saw more of Davis? It's been obvious that it's been personnel. Young needs to watch the best DEs in the league and start emulating them.

Heinicke Hive: The LEGEND of Taylor Heinicke Thread
Silvernon replied to LetThePointsSoar's topic in The Stadium
I'm not actually sure that's the best case scenario. If I were the GM, I acquire the new prized QB and trade Heinicke and his team-friendly deal. If Heinicke can get you a day 2 pick, I'd take that to compensate for the draft picks lost. Look at an alternative to Allen as back-up. You need a mentor. A guy who studies the tape and can help the new QB whether vet or rookie. That may or may not be Heinicke. If they were 100% sold, they'd probably let Heinicke play out the season. And lastly, the health of the starting QB will dictate the season. I used to worry about quality back-ups, but not so much now. -
Marcus Washington was oft-injured missing half the season and not the same that last year he was year. In my memory, that was past-peak and amid the steep drop-off. Orakpo may have been a SLB that first year, but he was a pass rushing specialist. Definitely was awful at all the LB aspects that year - zero flexibility in his hips.

I actually believe the opposite. Lots of movement this year. They made the huge mistake of not drafting Herbert, so they have to leverage everything they have for a veteran FA or a top pick. There is no other option available to them. They are painted to a corner. Defense isn't good enough to win on its own unless Chase Young becomes a DPOY type player, and that is a huge question mark at this point. It's all-in. Rivera talked about a lot of movement expected. A great QB makes this roster a 10+ win team. Saves everyone's job, regardless of how much is given up. McLaurin + Thomas + Samuel Gibson + McKissic That's actually a decent ensemble for a high level QB. Should be able to add some day 2 or 3 picks to the arsenal too, and maybe a surprise 1-yr contract to play with said QB.

Details. But seriously, I'm still a believer in Jamin. It was a weird year and his concussion didn't help. I'm liking how he's projecting into next year. If that happens then they have two starting LBs, which is the first time that has been the case in...many years. I'm actually thinking back to how many times they've had two strong LBs and I can't think of a time in the last 20 years other than the Marcus Washington-Antonio Pierce/Lemar Marshall years. Fletcher + ? Who am I missing from Fletcher's time?

Rodgers Carr Trade Up to top 5 That's the best case here. I've been holding onto the sliver of hope that Rodgers won't go to Denver. Rivera basically loses the team next year because it won't go well running Heinicke or Allen out there. It was supposed to be Fitz and they might make the playoffs with him. Too much at stake not to get a QB. Your best player on O is not getting the ball and Rivera talked about that. Also said they need a deep threat (Dyami) and Samuel to stay healthy to bear support Terry. TH has been very good at play-action, so I won't argue that a better QB will significantly improve Gibson's effectiveness. McLaurin is a top 5 WR in the NFC. Gibson has been a top 5 back in the NFC this season. Thomas is a top 5-10 TE in the league. Pass blocking for the OL has graded out elite/top-tier for most the year. There's enough there for Rodgers to be happy even without additions. If this team had a QB, it would help everyone...except for Tress Way.

I've lost all respect for you based on this take, so to each their own.

Next Day Thread: No Effort Version - Dallas vs. WFT II
Silvernon replied to KDawg's topic in The Stadium
Not enough stars came to play this year. That's the difference between Dallas and WFT this year. Parsons DROY/DPOY and Young was a complete non-factor. And you pick Lawrence over Sweat. That D-line played like WFTs was hyped to be. It's embarassing. No QB to throw the star on offense (Terry) the ball. I hate when elite talents on teams are wasted. Veteran QB or top 5 draft pick. Nothing else will do. Gibson doing his best Tiki impersonation this season. Logan Thomas injured and the musical chairs on O-line hasn't helped things. The corners after Jackson and Fuller are putrid. Depth at corner...hello? Please sir, can I have some more? Landon covering is still really hard to watch. They need that cash to improve the team. 2-3 starters with that money. It's been another epic failure. -
So, I watched the Eagles game where everywhere was lamenting over his pp oor play and not in living up to hype. I don't see what you guys see. I said it in the first Dallas game (I think it was) that I see a guy that played through a concussion (Everett delivered the hit) and did pretty well, but was obviously not thinking at full speed. If anything, I was impressed with his play. I disagree with this board seemingly a fair bit. Reminds me of Holcomb's rookie year. Gets praise from former players and yet this board still tears them down. Davis will be just fine. Y'all be tripping. Playoffs were already out of reach. Horrendous accident this week. Season is done.

Heinicke Hive: The LEGEND of Taylor Heinicke Thread
Silvernon replied to LetThePointsSoar's topic in The Stadium
He's lost the team, so he should be benched for Allen. Problem with Allen is a super long delivery, but he's looked better. Heinicke was awful yesterday and has been getting worse by the week. The decisions and ability to see the field are poor. I don't see the value in continuing the experiment other than securing the Ls. -
I really disagree with these takes...but I haven't watched the game yet...I guess that's what's I'm doing now. Stay tuned.

In all fairness, I think you have to explore the other options now before going for the ultimate Plan A. This year they are weathering scandal. If they can squeak into the playoffs again, that will help put the beginning of the season in the rearview of everyone. Next year when you have a new name you can begin to make more traction with DC. RFK still makes a lot of sense for multiple parties.

Welcome to the Redskins Montez Sweat Mississippi St.
Silvernon replied to PCS's topic in The Stadium
The wasted pick was Chase Young. The logic behind Sweat made sense. He had length and athletic ability to play on the right, and the size and run stopping ability to play on the left side. You trade up to get a premier rusher with Preston out and Kerrigan approaching the cliff of his career. Doubled down with Chase. You can see what Rivera is thinking considering when he played, who he grew up watching. But, it wasn't rational to continually exhaust premium resources on one area. Unfortunately that now will mean Sweat is out. The vaccine situation has clearly frosted relations internally, and I do expect he'll be traded in the next two seasons. It's either or at this point, and you have to keep Young to see if he figures it out. A 2nd+3rd or a 1st would be ideal for Sweat. Basically a re-do. -
Montez was actually reasonably disciplined. There were certainly times, but you can sort of understand his thought process and he was often the backside in those situations. I've beat the Chase Young horse too much, but look at this
