  1. I don't know. Everyone who wants to know will know based off interviews and workouts. But yeah, his in ship is sinking fast.
  2. With Kyle Shanahan's offense. Arguably the most QB friendly system in the NFL. I'm getting to be in edge. For my sanity, I'm really hoping they're aggressive trading up in the draft.
  3. I agree with the first two. They can get by with McCain at FS, but they need a MLB on D. It's almost as bad as the QB hole on O, and completely changes the unit. I do think they need a bruiser for short-yardage/goal line, but the ideal would be a FB. I love the growth of Gibson. I'm with Baldy that he's a young stud with fumblitis.
  4. Yeah, exactly. I mean, look at this highlight video of his rookie year and you can see him at times "see it" and be indecisive and still make the play. There is so much that pops there. If this was a full season worth of plays, everyone would be okay with saying this is first round quality. If the position switch is needed as far as acumen, so be it. https://youtu.be/tb18djDL9o8 Somebody help me out here.
  5. I don't think Carson Strong's knee matters. Kenny Pickett having 8" hands will sink his stock faster than the Titanic. A bad knee on an immobile pocket passer is an inconvenience.
  6. I have zero problems, so to speak, with this management team. There is a lot of experience, and it seems like a lot of voices are heard. I think we're desperate sometimes for immediate results, and while Ron Rivera has not produced immediate results here in Washington, he has contributed to an improved culture. Zooming out and looking at where this team is at people will understand in the future how difficult the time it was. There is something to be said for the accomplishments of this staff during the WFT era. Do I love some of the picks in the draft? No. But, I understand the rationale behind the picks and appreciate why the selections were made. I do think the 2021 draft has been underwhelming, however the staff does deserve some credit as it pertains to the development of this team up to this point. I'm holding our hope on the 2021 draft because it was all projection guys. 2022 is a big year for this franchise. Ron is here for 5 minimum and likely closer to 10 than 4 years at the helm.
  7. I'm generally in agreement with this. It wouldn't be awful to give up the second rounder to get Bobby Wagner for 2-4 years.
  8. I feel we're close to the past of the draft process where Kenny Pickett and Malik Willis will start dropping down the pre-draft lists. I'm still thinking Carson Strong is the guy to get this year.
  9. We shall see. I have more faith in Davis becoming Rice than Young becoming Brooks level, but we'll see. Clearly it takes awhile for Davis to digest the D and for it to be second nature. We will know one way or another next year. It should be evident. I see a lot of people ragging on Del Dio and this D, and I have given my share of criticisms, but they are only a couple pieces away from being elite. And they need their arguably most talented player (Young) to put his head down and produce. It's not far off. Maybe I am crazy.
  10. You can see this D play so much better when they can get Holcomb outside. To me, he's one of the best coverage LBs in the league and has been given some impossible assignments. His athleticism is awesome and I love him in space. Holcomb at SLB is what the staff has said will happen. Probably play some MLB in two LB sets. As I wrote somewhere else, Jamin Davis has immense athleticism and getting him near the line of scrimmage to make those big stops on short-yardage runs is exciting. Ron has said it and I agree that there have been some moments when he's aware of his role on the play and reacts without overthinking and the results are impactful. He "Wow's" on plays. Jamin at WLB. Near the line. Physical and reactive. The potential of Chase Young (as much as I have ragged on him) and Jamin Davis on that weak side is ridiculous. The potential is Simeon Rice/Derrick Brooks stuff.
  11. Yeah, I see this as great experience for him (interviewing) and might even be the idea. Gives him some prep for next year. If William Jackson plays like a CB1 and they keep McCain around, I can see the D playing a lot better next year. They need to have a stronger year as a unit for him to be a frontrunner. The NFL coaching world is small and he is a name to watch in a couple of years. Would be really nice for him to take over here, but probably a Kyle Shanahan/Sean McVay situation when Gruden was here. TL;DR The D being so awful this year has some upsides.
  12. Meaning: Even without a top corner in the league (White injured), there wasn't a massive drop-off in team performance. The implication here is that it is because of great safety play. And I agree.
  13. I disagree. I don't love how he move. To me, the best LBs glide and they close that last gap like a predator does to its prey. There is an innate finish to them. That last burst is something I look for. Jamin Davis may not have the ability to hear the play, relay it, react to audibles and motions and go react. It may be too much thinking. What he does have is what I talked about above. Cole Holcomb has that too.
  14. I wonder whether this means they won't re-sign Bostic. Have to think they have 5 of 7LBs right now with a starter needing to be added. Wonder whether Bostic comes back to split time with Davis at WLB. I just hope no Bostic at Mike next year. It's time.
  15. Yeah, I get it. Find a McClain-like situation at MLB that actually ends up being good enough to hold down the position until you can draft someone. I'm just ready to put an end to it. Get a guy in the second round and maybe even trade up. Find a way to keep that pick this year and go for need like they always do at the top of the draft. You have to double down. Find a guy that makes Davis and Holcomb better by pushing them to the outside and taking over communication. And next it will be a top line FS to protect the secondary as they draft new corners. 2022 - QB + MLB 2023 - DB + G/WR 2024 - OT + RB
  16. I thought you were on to something and got some more info...and I don't see it. In theory, makes a ton of sense. But, I think they look for a high-quality LB to complete the 7. I'm still watching the LBs of the draft.
  17. I think you have to go for a MLB on Day 2. There have been some great pick-ups over the years. That second round when you've had a bad year is when you do it. Still think the 2nd will be gone with the 1st in a trade for a QB, but this team has gone for need in the draft and so I fully expect a MLB in Rnd 2 otherwise.
  18. Taysom Hill is a weapon. The Raiders have done what they've done with Mariota trying to emulate the Saints. There is so much potential in the Taysom Hill dynamic because it dramatically lowers the bar for your 'actual' QB. Jimmy G level QBs are perfectly acceptable with a Taysom Hill. It changes a lot.
  19. Jimmy is closer to Mitch than Carr. A losing season of 7-10 or 8-9? Doubt it. They need a few things to happen for this team to take another step outside of QB: a Mike linebacker, Chase Young does a 180°, Davis excels at OLB and Jackson has a CB1 year. The defense needs to take a step. The concerning part is how much Chase Young's individual performance plays into that. But, if anyone can get this defense back on track, I do think they have the group for it. With an actual top 5 defense, I think you can almost carry a rookie QB to the playoffs with the support of this run game.
  20. Snyder has been a fairly patient owner over the years. Sure getting his hand in the cookie jar sometimes, but that's a common sports owner attribute everywhere. Gibbs was four. Zorn a too long two. Shanahan was four. Gruden was five and a third. Callahan an interim. Rivera is comfortably getting through three, but a QB this year gets him to six years or more. Plenty of reasons for them to make the big splash this offseason to buy all these guys a guaranteed fourth year with Washington and likely semi-guarantee the fifth and sixth outside of a Haskins bomb of a pick. Draft is still probably the most realistic option. That's why I don't pay too much attention to second rounders this year because that pick is for sure gone. You can say good bye to next year's first too.
