  1. They need to be able to hit 3-5 rush yards on first down. The amount of 1 yard runs is insane.
  2. A lot of it does come down to having a great Mike LBer. I wonder if Jamin can play more Mike and be on the field more. I'm not expecting much from Butler, but Quan might be pretty good as time goes on. I'm curious to see where he plays and whether FS is a spot for him. I like the idea of having Curl and DFo closer to the LOS. It's early, but I think the core will continue to play better, but MLB is a serious issue. Again, it is too easy to play this D when you know there are two weak spots. When the D has one weak spot, you can scheme into it. They will attack Barton, so maybe you can find the right moment to create turnovers.
  3. I'm expecting the unexpected, aka a miraculous dominating win. Leaving everyone in limbo for another few weeks to know for sure what this team exactly is. 37-10 Commanders
  4. We'll see what he's made of. I know Slay mentioned his experience of being benched twice, but it looks as if Forbes will have minimal snaps the rest of the way. If he's going to be a feather out there, then he needs to get sticky in coverage. Footwork needs to be elite.
  5. It's really mostly Barton and Forbes as the issue. They have both been awful. Butler can take a seat too. Secondary - BSJ and Fuller are playing well overall, but several errors. Forrest and Curl are a good duo that could be playing a bit better. D-Line - Allen apparently fighting through something and that meshes with what I see. Young probably improves as he gets to the back half. Payne and Sweat playing where they need to be. And Jamin could be playing better, but mostly looks good.
  6. The young man is getting embarrassed out there. It is time to sit out for the good of the team. Much like Barton. Both need to stay off the field for the D to be good. Ego got the reality check, but you don't have the opportunity for him to work through it. He needs to compete better and that won't be an overnight fix. High potential, but he is a year away from being any good. When a team has 2 or more easy targets, you get carved up all year.
  7. I disagree. The OL is the weakest unit, but they probably have their eye out for a large cut. I liked Howell coming into the draft, so I have bias there but they have a top tier back-up. The weapons are elite for any good coordinator. The D is stacked and could be elite. You need a few things to happen: Forbes and Quan to play well as rookies, Jamin takes a step and Barton surprises, BSJ is healthy and Young looks like his draft pedigree. I think 10-12 wins in a tough division. This is a better roster than last year. More depth.
  8. Yeah, that's the toughest part of all this. Ron has alluded to wanting a certain mindset, attitude and demeanor. We see that in the players they are drafting more and more. That hasn't been Chase; he is still obsessed with the spotlight without putting in the work like Terry. Chase focused on his craft like Terry has shown to be is an All-Pro player. I think they still have their fingers crossed that it will happen - and maybe the ego has been diminished and he has a massive chip on his shoulder - but they have done the 'standard steps' toward replacing him. They have a few depth guys that have done well and Henry is interesting. On tape, you sign Sweat. He can play both sides and wouldn't rule out another step for him this year.
  9. Hodges for a 4th RB makes sense, but not sure that guy is on the roster right now. Hodges is the guy I drop when Larsen comes off PUP. I think you can get a couple of the fringe corners on PS as depth same as the RB position, but perhaps Holmes makes it.
  10. Special Teams (3): PK (1): Slye --> look to replace P (1): Way LS (1): Cheeseman Offense (26) QB (3): Howell, Brissett, Fromm OT (4): Leno, Wylie, Lucas, Daniels IOL (5*): Gates, Stromberg, Cosmi, Paul, Charles (Larsen on PUP) RB (3): Robinson, Gibson, Rodriguez TE (5): Thomas, Bates, Turner, Rogers, Hodges WR (6): McLaurin, Dotson, Samuel, Brown, Kemp, Milne/Allen *IOL is the most likely spot they upgrade from now to season start, so we could see +1 to OL and a -1 to WR/TE. Defense (24): DT (4): Allen, Payne, Ridgeway, Mathis DE (6): Young, Sweat, Obada, JSW, Henry, Toohill/Jones LB. (4): Davis, Barton, Mayo, Hudson CB (5): BSJ, Fuller, Forbes, Dantzler, Johnson S (5): Curl, Forrest, Martin, Butler, Reaves Roster is basically set now. Just fingers crossed to scoop up a cap casualty at LG.
  11. I mean, sure. Clearly they went all-in on D and now we get to see whether they are elite. A year to see who else gets paid. I can see Cosmi being able to play RG. Signed a RT. Drafted a starting C. Signed a LG (or C). Leno is league average. Daniels is really interesting and a wildcard at LT in 1-2 years to take over for Leno. I expect a rebound year from Leno. If Howell is the guy, you probably go OT with the first rounder next year. Other options would be DE, LB or CB. My money is OL.
  12. For some players from some programs, it doesn't apply. But for some, this is a game changer as far as fitness and nutrition. What you can afford to do and get people around you to motivate and help develop you. Paying people to make sure you meet your goals is a luxury. The resources available, along with the fact that this is now real and availability gets you paid the big bucks, suggests he can add at least some weight. I think you'd be hoping for over 175 lbs for season start and hoping to keep him above 175lbs for the season. Aim for 183/180 the next year and see if you can get any higher as the years go by.
  13. Henry seems he has more of that ability to stand up. Maybe confusing what Ron said with what he said about Jones, but you can see he has the ability to play some zone and probably has the ability to disrupt routes at the LOS. Henry (or Jones) in the 5 man front will be taking the spot of Barton. Hudson should steal some snaps from him too. That's what I think will happen. We'll see what his snaps totals are through the beginning of the season. Just watching Ron talk about the DEs, I have never been less certain that Chase Young has a future on the team. KJ was referred to as Ron's guy by Logan, and there's some inkling that KJ and Daniels were who they were deciding between in the 4th. With the draft room video, I think there is some evidence of Ron wanting KJ and agreeing with the advice from the executive that they had to go OL with the pick. Ron just seems pumped about this guy.
  14. I appreciate the viewpoints, however I think the team would agree with my point of view based off what they have done: reduced the cost of the position. Resources spent elsewhere on D. Barton is a downgrade to Holcomb. We can all essentially agree on that. Meanwhile, the resources spent suggests you want these guys on the field as much as possible: BSJ Fuller Forbes Quan Curl Forrest Now, maybe Forbes is the understudy to Fuller this year - and that brings it to 4-2-5. I can understand it, but lots of talk about needing turnovers.
  15. Throw out Davis' 1st year and consider the last his rookie year; hopefully makes another jump. He would be the #1 backer on a team that has plenty of good DBs in a league with more pass catching. The #2LB is a part-time player. The #3DT is more important. #3DE more important. Would have been great to keep Holcomb, but not a huge dropoff. I don't think you need four 1st rounders on the DL. Expect them to pick one. Hope Henry plays well regardless.
  16. Agreed. Just interesting to see them list him as a corner in the draft, but Ron talking about him made it seem to be: 1A) Free Safety 1B) Nickel Corner He did mention the Buffalo Nickel, but still get the sense he is their FS. Chris Simms had him as the #1 Safety.
  17. Project to play behind Leno for a year, and if he doesn't look like the LT for next year then you draft a LT in round 1 2024. I'm good with this. Day 1 and 2 is for finding near-immediate starters.
  18. Won't get the option. It will tactically be fuel. I've been a doubter, but could see Young see the light. They won't know until next year, and they'll always have the franchise tag. If you get Sweat signed the first year will probably be low. If Chase gets a deal it will peak when Allen's is done (2-3 years). It's doable. QB is cheap. RB is cheap. OL is cheaper and cheaper. TE will be cheap after next year. LB is cheap.
  19. I can see it more and more, but I still doubt it because it has to be a LT and it just seems they will miss out on top 4-5 OTs. Think there are a couple of other positions that could use the help now. This corner class can give you a potential shutdown CB1 at 16. Day 2 can always get you a starter for the IOL. Fair to argue corner will too, but more likely OL. 1 - CB 2 - MLB 3 - C/G Three starters. All three get time to phase-in to their starting spots.
  20. At this point getting the 12th overall for Chase Young would be ideal. I just don't see him flipping the switch like Trent did after the second marijuana test and becoming the best in the league. 12: LT Broderick Jones 16: CB Joey Porter 47: MLB Drew Sanders Three starters, and maybe a 4th of you can get an IOL with the 3rd. Could go CB at 12 and a Darnell Wright at 16. Could also wait for 47 to address CB.
  21. I think the draft process will see Herbert elevated above him. Accuracy is a big factor. Realize I could have this wrong, but to me he's the better prospect. Honestly, I have no doubts. I guess we'll see how it plays out. https://es.redskins.com/topic/428138-2020-comprehensive-draft-thread/?do=findComment&comment=11644195
  22. And that's the worrying part. He's not Jonathan Allen. Everyone has said the said thing this year (even former Washington greats) that he bought into his own hype and didn't master his position or come in with the right mindset. He has that love of the spotlight like RG3 and the parallel worries me. Defining year for him. Tell us who you are Chase.
  23. Listen.... It does matter. Greater or equal to 9" hands for a QB in the NFL. That is more important than height. It's hard enough to keep the ball without tiny hands at QB.
