  1. This is a joke thread...right?
  2. And their defense hasn't been great of late. I do feel this a very weak playoff contender, but anything can happen...and progress is progress.
  3. I don't necessarily agree. He was super raw in his first snaps and is looking more comfortable by the week. Looked like Everett might have given him a slight concussion early on and still played well, particularly later on when it looked like he felt better. By next year, it could be a huge jump. Again, we don't know how these guys study and how it will translate to the field. But, I like the curve he is on.
  4. Had another really good game. Jamin Davis coming up big too. Like where the defense is trending overall. Health is looking like a bit of an issue.
  5. Yup. This defense is playing as a unit much better than before. Results speak for themselves.
  6. Got to give a lot of credit to Jamin there to make contract with the receiver and end that game.
  7. Yeah, I just don't know why you throw there.
  8. I have a pretty bad feeling about this game, but do feel it is a must win. Unlikely to sweep the remaining the NFCE games, so you need this one. Keys to the game: Limit big passing plays on defense More physical at the LOS No turnovers WFT wins 24 - 20
  9. It's completely fair to be piling on Young. He deserves it. It's not his talent that is the issue. He is not a student of the game. Like many young men, his priorities don't look to be in the right place. In other words, he's no Terry McLaurin. We've seen the stats about double teams and win rate, and Chase isn't in the quadrant you'd like him to be. I guess I could find who/where it was posted in this thread. Either way, the narrative of constantly doubled/gameplanned against doesn't hold up by the numbers. Right now, we have 7th rounders ≥ generational prospect. That is beyond brutal for the team/fanbase. The expectation was for Chase to do what JJ Watt did when he entered the league, or heck TJ Watt for the Steelers. By the second year, he should be 'arguably' the best DE in the league based on his physical tools. That was the hype. That was the reason he was reported to be the 'easiest pick in the draft'.
  10. Maxx Crosby too. Gosh, the rookie Micah Parsons looks like he has a helluva lot more football IQ and instincts. Glad Parsons isn't here - off the board red flags - but that doesn't change what I am seeing on the field. The thing is...if Chase Young could play like Maxx Crosby, he would be the Aaron Donald of DEs: an absolute wrecking ball. But, I see one player that loves football and one loves the money/fame. That's the impression that I get. Heartbreaking stuff, I tell ya. It'll be his third year, and Maxx made the huge step in his third. It's put up or shut up time for Young when he returns.
  11. No contact minimum was 4 weeks. Could still be out another game or two. I doubt he'll be back next week on a short week.
  12. It's the only thing that will work. I don't think Young and Sweat will feel forgotten about it unless WFT makes a run to the playoffs and plays well the whole way. If the back-up DEs collect 3+ sacks in a playoff game, there will certainly be talk. I'm hopeful they continue to play well and the DEs collect some sacks to further prove the point that if the system is played effectively, the stats will be there.
  13. If they have all the receiving options available, that certainly bodes well for a win. Having DEs that can contain also helps. Hopefully Rotimi sees limited snaps.
  14. Only if what you say happens. Curl gets the 2nd captaincy on D right now and then they become shutdown over a long winning streak. Success is the key ingredient. I don't see it with Juste. Think injuries will be a big concern moving forward. Really think they need a top corner in the draft, but with an expected trade for a QB...tough luck. Absolutely a core guy. Holcomb flashed right away, in my eyes, and has held together this unit for the most part over the years and always getting better. If he gets a legitimate Batman, to his Robin, watch out. Holcomb, Payne and Curl are the same level to me. Sub-elite at their position, but are at least they're in the fringe of the conversation they're so good. Allen is moving to elite territory, and the hope is that Davis will be joining him. He is a huge wildcard, but no better spot for him to grow. At first I agreed with this, but the contract has to factor into it. If you trade Sweat for a 2nd rounder and use the money to sign an All-Pro corner, I'm all for it. Either way, it's not a pure Sweat = x because the contract factors into it for both teams.
  15. It's not going to be popular with Chase. The fact that Rivera said in a presser that Chase would have to find someone else to work out with now that Sweat is injured is a bit concerning. Of course, that was for a very limited time. It feels like those two have been on their own island and it hasn't produced results.
  16. Watching Herbert last night...this is assuredly going to go down as an awful draft pick for Washington. I don't have faith that he'll be dominant anymore. Look at the scrubs play with our DTs and have success. Plenty of high producing DEs in the league this year, just not on this team.
  17. Yeah, if WFT didn't have great depth at OL, could easily imagine two losses the last couple of weeks. Davis is starting to get more play recognition and moving faster earlier. Kind of like Edmunds for Buffalo. Clearly wasn't ready when looking at college tape, but the flashes combined with the athleticism is worth the redshirt year. If David hits another gear through the second half - like Young did last year - all will make sense in revisionist histories. Cosmi is basically a 1st rounder to me. A double 1st round year. Strange that he didn't go higher, and he's about as raw as Davis. They've had great guard play and a successful scheme. He's been saved by his athleticism.
  18. Davis has the look of a centrepiece once he gets comfortable. Reminds me of Holcomb's 1st year. Clearly flashes. Secondary didn't play great but they didn't have to. This defense has played better with Smith-Williams and Toohill on the edges, go figure.
  19. I'm just basing it on the eye test. What I see as far as play speed looks a lot like Andrews. He's not Sprinkle, but he's not Kittle either. Maybe with more reps he looks a bit faster and I'll re-visit.
  20. So, we've seen him at tackle and he grade out highly in run blocking. Charles looks like a guard. Excited to see him start next year.
  21. And when the star players - looking at you Young - play like stars. Making the impact plays that shift outcomes. We want to see greatness. Show me the great right now. All I see is McLaurin, Allen, and Curl. Short list for a big roster.
