  1. So, J.K. simmons is playing a ripped commissioner Gordon. He's gone full Master Roshi. Damn!
  2. Vasquez died in Aliens. I don't think she could be in the next one. Hudson could come back, but Michael Beihn is pretty damn old at this point.
  3. Last month, I had been looking into buying options on Pepco Holdings after fears of it's merger collapse with Exelon dropped it's price from $26.xx to $21.xx. I decided against it after a spat of negative reports came out in the days before the merger was approved. Arbitrage is risky, but had I bought options, I basically would have made a 400% return on whatever I risked. The stock jumped from ~21 to ~28 after the merger closed. Fail.
  4. That is weird that Coughlin is still meandering about the Giants training area. Kinda of like an ex-girlfriend that still sends you "good morning!" texts. Just won't move on. Let it go, Tom. You can afford a 24 hour fitness membership.
  5. I don't know very much at all about college players, but this simulation made me realize I should be a GM. Your score is: 7073 (GRADE: A-) Your Picks: Round 2 Pick 11 (MIA): Adolphus Washington, DT/DE, Ohio State (A-) Round 2 Pick 22: Bronson Kaufusi, DE/OLB, Brigham Young (A-) Round 2 Pick 28 (K.C.): Cody Whitehair, OG, Kansas State (A) Round 3 Pick 10 (MIA): John Theus, OT, Georgia (A-) Round 3 Pick 21: Zack Sanchez, CB, Oklahoma (B+) Round 4 Pick 9 (MIA): Aaron Burbridge, WR, Michigan State (B+) Round 4 Pick 22: Sheldon Day, DT, Notre Dame (A) Round 5 Pick 19: Aaron Green, RB, TCU (A) Round 6 Pick 12: Cyrus Jones, CB, Alabama (A+) Round 7 Pick 11: Ty Darlington, C, Oklahoma (F) Round 7 Pick 21: Cre'von LeBlanc, CB, Florida Atlantic (A+)
  6. I've seen a few new flicks recently. The Big Short: A Fantastic. I'm almost through the book, and saw the movie this past weekend. Pretty damn good performances. The movie did a pretty good job of breaking down boring wall street concepts/lingo into something the average Joe could understand. I'm not sure it's worthy of a best picture nod, but it was a very good film. The Revenant: A Leo at his finest. The story was compelling, and though the movie is long, and could have been cut down a bit, it easily kept my attention throughout. The music, cinematography, and costume design to an amazing job of making you feel like you are on the frontier of America. Leo and Hardy's performances are amazing. Star Wars Force Awakens: A- Yet another damn good flick. I've never been a big SW nerd, but I had to see what the hype was about. The story, VFX, and acting was top notch. I think the whole story evolving around yet another "Death Star" was a worn out trope at this point. I really hope they can make a proper SW film without the need for a death star in every movie. I could see THAT characters death coming from a mile away, but it adds weight to the movie. Pretty good. I'll be there for part 8. Heroin, Cape Cod: A This was a one hour documentary on HBO that following the lives of several heroin users over a significant amount of time. It's a real, deep, inside look at the lives of some people who are strung out and suffering from addiction. It's a pretty powerful documentary. It makes me glad I haven't been bitten by the addiction bug, like so many others have. Worth a watch if you have HBO.
  7. Apples to oranges, my man. Occupy wall street chaps were only armed with iphones and starbucks. They didn't instigate a heavily armed takeover of an investment firm. These rednecks need to be dispersed. Just turn off their water, jam their cell phone coverage, and black out local Nascar coverage. The latter should get them home with the quickness.
  8. Getting caught on your phone while driving out here with net you a pretty little $200 fine. After seeing countless twits putting on makeup, sexting, changing clothes, or doing anything other than paying attention while driving, I don't mind one bit. On the manual car thingy, for normal DD cars, I'd prefer an auto. I have a G37, it's quick, and relatively hassle-free to drive. If I had a fast sports car, or something with a throaty V8, I'd opt for the manual. My first car in my early 20's was a mustang GT with a 5-speed. Tons of fun.
  9. Tom Coughlin Resigns as Giants' Head Coach http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/14502429/tom-coughlin-new-york-giants-coach
  10. Set a trap to lure them out. I'd say set some snare traps around the building. In them, you place objects that people of that type couldn't possibly resist. Pork rinds, confederate flags, a copy of "Hot Rodder" magazine, and a 1990 IROC-Z should get them out posthaste.
  11. Man, threads like this make me glad I don't have any student loan debt. I only have an Associate's Degree in IT, but it's enough to make a serviceable $70k salary. Lots of good advice in here, OP. Good luck.
  12. It should really be a requirement in this country to pass a comprehensive psych evaluation before being allowed to police our populace. This might weed out some of the inbred ****s that are running around masquerading as peace officers.
  13. I hope the FBI or some oversight agency looks into that Paradise, CA shooting. That fatass cop damn near executed that dude, then tried to hide his actions. He gets off scot free? Accidental? Bull****! It'd be nice if dumb**** cops weren't going around beating/raping/shooting people and acting in a criminal fashion, as that would make this thread shorter.
  14. It's my understanding that Will just wanted too much money for the sequel. I think he said he wanted like $40-50 million or something, and the budget didn't allow it, so they told him to screw off.
  15. It's that time of the year. **** you, Dallas. **** you! On to victory.
  16. Mission Impossible Rogue Nation: B Pretty much what you would expect from a MI movie. 'Splosions, witty banter, and action. Solid, but not as good as ghost protocol. I'd say the "impossible" mission in this one is pretty weak, and the villain of the movie is lame as hell, and is not in any way threatening. Kind of a let down after how good Ghost Protocol was, but in and of itself, not bad. The Signal: B Watched this yesterday. It was kind of a psychological, sci-fi mystery film, kind of in the vein of "Moon". I'm not quite sure what to make of it. I think the "big reveal" at the end was kind of predictable. The acting was solid, and direction was good. I don't think, as a lower budget sci-fi flick, it's going to be as memorable as other films in the genre. Overall, solid but unspectacular.
  17. So, anybody taking bets on who's next? The top of my list is Caldwell in Detroit, Pagano in Indy, and Tomsula in SF. Even though it's Tomsula's first year, I think the 49ers will want to bring in a more established coach. I don't know WTF happened to Detroit. They were a pretty good playoff team last year. I do like the Lions, but Caldwell should be fired with how they've regressed. Pagano is probably a dead man walking unless the Colts go on a run and finish better than 8-8, while winning the division.
  18. Sicario: B+ Pretty damn good. The tension in the movie was palpable, and the suspense was on point. The story seemed to lack continuity a bit, though. It seemed like it couldn't quite maintain it's focus. The central point was a team of agents looking for a drug kingpin, but it felt like it took a back seat to other character's drama a bit too much. Overall, well worth the view. Emily Blunt is a babe.
  19. The Martian: A Loved it. I'm a big science fiction nerd. I thought the suspense and pacing was right on, and the humor and humanity really set it apart. Great flick. I'm going to read the book now. San Andreas - C+ Your typical big summer blockbuster 'splosion fest. The Rock is entertaining as an action star. Other than that, this isn't breaking new ground here. Great visuals, campy story, and **** gets blowed up. Tomorrowland - B Pretty solid, actually. I had no interest in seeing it in the theatre, but I checked it out and it's pretty good. I think the villain in the story is cheesy and doesn't make any sense, but it has a solid story and will keep you engaged. I'm still looking forward to seeing Black Mass and Sicario.
  20. Wouldn't be that hard if the hammer was already ****ed. The trigger pull is really light at that point. That being said, the toddler was probably just defending his constitutional right to defend himself from tyranny. Grandma was probably going to put him/her down for a nap.
  21. http://goatd.net/122741/watch-washington-redskins-vs-atlanta-falcons I had good luck with that site the past 2 weeks. Very little skipping. Here's hoping for another good stream.
  22. That first link you posted in BS. It's just somebody stating that research proves concealed carry laws reduce violent crime. Where are the links to the data? It's just Hearsay. You're also posting opinions from somebody who is well known to be exceedingly pro-gun, to support your pro-gun position. See a conflict there?
  23. Casual gun ownership as applied to the second amendment should be incredibly murky. Nowhere in the constitution does it say the average Joe can buy a truckload of guns without any constraints. People who are heavily anti-gun control love to tout the 2nd amendment. They however, love to leave out the part that says, "A well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State". Never mind the fact this piece of legislation was written 250 years ago, and badly needs to be updated. Civilian militia's don't exist in this country anymore, except in the mind of paranoid anti-government types. The only way those words make sense in the year 2015, is if you're referring to the Army/Navy/Air Force, etc., when you say "well regulated militia". In this case, it works, since they can and do bear arms, while protecting our country. I'd say that in order to personally own a device meant for killing, a thorough background check, and firearm registration should be a MINIMUM. I think the background checks should be expanded to look for anybody who's been hospitalized for mental illness, or are currently on certain medications. I don't think that's infringing on anybody's rights. You can still own a gun, provided that you can pass a background check and you aren't a schizophrenic on anti-dissociation medication.
  24. For those that work in IT, specifically DBA, SQL, etc., what is a good technology to learn and/or focus on? I've been working on the client side, as an Access/VBA/MS-SQL developer. I'd like to learn some new tech, something that's in demand and will offer a good chance at a financial boost. I'm not sure if I should spend some time trying to learn T-SQL/SQL Server 2012/2014, or maybe focus on cloud technologies, etc. Any suggestions?
