The Evil Genius
I'm glad the Giants weren't officially in the Tanaka business. For basically the price the Yankees paid him per year, the Giants paid Matt Cain AND Madison Bumgarner.

GoSkins0721
I love the Tanaka signing I do too. It keeps him in the AL for a team that won't sniff the playoffs for a couple of years.

Morrison J
My team the Red Sox just signed Grady Sizemore. Zero risk deal really, no complaints. Rob Bradford @bradfo 2m Sizemore has base of $750K with incentives that can push up to $6 million with Red Sox

Bliz
So Maddux isn't going into the HoF as a Brave. Interesting choice. To clarify, he's not going in as anything. "My wife Kathy and I grew up in baseball in Chicago, and then we had just an amazing experience in Atlanta with the Braves. It's impossible for me to choose one of those teams for my Hall of Fame plaque, as the fans of both clubs in each of those cities were so wonderful. I can't think of having my Hall of Fame induction without support of both of those fan bases, so, for that reason, the cap on my Hall of Fame plaque will not feature a logo." http://www.mcall.com/sports/mc-madux-larussa-wont-have-logos-on-hall-caps-20140123,0,6862813.story I get that people here are a little upset about it. Certainly his prime HOF years were in Atl, and he will always be a Brave. But he came up with the Cubs, went back there later in his career, and currently works in their front office. I understand the attachment to that organization too.

ixcuincle
http://www.nytimes.com/2014/02/11/sports/baseball/tanaka-rents-boeing-787-for-entrance.html?_r=0 A Japan Airlines Boeing 787 Dreamliner, capable of carrying nearly 200 people up to 7,850 nautical miles, touched down at Kennedy International Airport on Sunday afternoon with only six passengers, including an ace pitcher, his pop star wife, a personal manager and a toy poodle named Haru. The unusual flight manifest was not a joke, but the grand entrance of Masahiro Tanaka, the Yankees’ flamboyant Japanese pitcher who put his newfound dollars to immediate use. Eager to avoid a snowstorm and arrive in New York in time for his introductory news conference Tuesday, Tanaka rented the plane from JAL for an estimated $200,000. Not even Reggie Jackson made such a colorful entrance to New York when he signed as a free agent with the Yankees in November 1976.

BRAVEONTHEWARPATH93
My Captain, my Captain. How ppl seriously dislike Jeter (outside of him playing for NYY) is crazy to me. The very definition of a professional Also, I love when athletes realize it's time to go before it's too late. Posada stayed too long. There were times when I thought Mo stayed too long as well. Jeter knows that the team has to find his real replacement soon and is giving them a headstart
Bubble Screen
I don't hate Jeter. One of the few Yanks I don't detest. He will probably make the HOF someday. But the guy is very overrated. Mainly as a SS. He isn't very good on defense. Never was, really. Looks like he is getting out before A Rod comes back, too.
The Evil Genius
Can't say I'm looking forward to another Mariano Rivera-esque media frenzy all season. Instead of rocking chairs and other gifts, teams can trot out all the girls he banged in each city (and paid with memorabilia).
pjfootballer
As an Orioles fan, I have alot of respect for Jeter the player and his career. But wearing the Pinstripes, he's the enemy and I have to dislike him.

TheDoyler23
Probably? Maybe he should wait 2+ years like Biggio. They have the same stats. And Biggio didn't win his silver slugger awards because his team bought the best player at his position and then moved him over! Of course I'm doing shtick. Jeter is a first ballot lock. The Evil Genius
His 3300+ hits while never being suspected of performance enhancing makes him a sure lock. That said, the stories about the gift baskets with autographed memorabilia for his one nights stands (for the morning after) make him legendary. Especially when it's the same damn stuff again to girls he forgets he has been with.
