jtyler42
Herzog just suggested that we get rid of Lavar and attempt to gain draft picks to upgrade our team speed in the draft...He said that the D is playing fine w/out him and that he really hasnt played that well when he was in there.... What do you think?
spjunkies
We can't take that cap hit.

afparent
i believe we need help in the speed department, but we don't need to get rid of lavar. we need to stop signing big time players and sign the middle of the road player with speed and hustle
TheSteve
first, there is our cap it. SECOND, you don't trade playmakers. How many times have we needed a stop and it hasn't happened? LaVar is that LB for us, he hasn't been healthy. Goodness.
Matador36
no, we need to make LA a full time pass rusher
sammino
YES it can be done because LA wants his contract voided, due to that 8mil he wants more, so it is possible to do... so forget about the the cap excuse.
Cskin
I'm not opposed to having the Redskins approach the arbitrator (and the NFL) about voiding his contract all together. He's got great PLAYMAKING POTENTIAL, with tremendous physical talents, but it doesn't do the Redskins any good if he's hurt or refuses to play within the framework of the defensive scheme. sammino
our D has been ok, with some healthy guys coming back and minor signings, later picks , we can be fine on D.. if we can get more help on offense i say do it.
jtyler42
I agree we need Lavar, and cant afford that cap hit....I dont think Herzog was thinking he was reacting as a fan.... He did hit it on the money that we need to upgrade our team speed....
Fred Jones
I disagree. I think Lavar would have helped in the Philly game and some of these other games. He makes other teams adjust their game plan. The D is just playing well without him, but he would have made the unit better. Start with Morton, Brunell, Gardner, and Samuels if you need players to dump. Samuels would be my last cut, however.
sammino
guys, his contract is sent to arbitratry to the NFL soon, so it wouldnt be a cap problem if we agree to void his contract.
NoCalMike
Lavar was supposedly going to be a QB Terrorizer from the WOLB position, with Marshall in there there is not threat. Marshall has played solid, and good considering the circumstances, but he is not a playmaker like Lavar.
Isifhan
I love how after every loss we GM's here manage to trade away our whole roster. If the skins would listen to most people on this board we wouldn't have a team left to field. And by the way it's a 6.5 mil dispute not 8 million and he never said he wanted his contract voided...I swear you guys make the most insane generalizations. Samuels if released or traded would save us the most money next year.. if LA contract voids, he too would save us a pretty dime too.

If that could be worked out it would probably be best for both Lavar and the team. It would let him chase the contract he wants (someone will pay) and would free up the cap space to fill some or even all of these holes in our lineup. I understand he's been through the different coordinators on D and I admire his enthusiasm and that he tries to say all the right things, but that contract is ridiculous. I'll believe it when I see it though.
Akhhorus
Originally posted by sammino guys, his contract is sent to arbitratry to the NFL soon, so it wouldnt be a cap problem if we agree to void his contract. then he would be a free agent. And we would get nothing for him.

Gamebreaker
We really haven't seen how effective LaVar can be in this defense and how much he could make the overall unit even better because he's been out for 9 weeks. I seriously don't believe Bettis would've been so effective running on the strongside if LaVar had been in the game. Marshall and Clemons did an admirable job for backups, but Lavar simply brings more to the table. It's ludicrous to believe they could be good replacements for what he brings to the table.
