For the record, Ekeler sucked last year. Let’s hope he plays better.

Ding Ding Ding, 3 years passed the age cliff, and suddenly we saw a gigantic collapse in efficiency and production. Could be a one year slip up, but he's way past the peak production age of RB's and the standard age cliff of 26, maybe Herbert being injured didn't help nor Mike Williams annual injury, but he looked like crap all year. Don't know anything about the relative health of the Chargers OL last year, so there is that too.

Doesn't make sense to me. I know he has a nice all around game and is great on the pass catching side historically, but all the data last year suggested he was just past it. Definitely feels like the team is trying to get by, at RB for the time being, and will probably target the position with stronger draft capital in '25 or '26.

He looked fine before his injury and never looked the same after. Whether that means he will rebound or not I have no idea but I can tell you for sure he was not stable for my fantasy team!

Pitt don't do down years do they?

Ravens fans gonna be burning some jerseys too.

They signed Russell Wilson to a 1 year deal. Wilson is heavily on the decline but still much better than Kenny Pickett. They've got a 1 year window to see if they can catch lightning in a bottle.

People are looking at the career, and not paying attention to his age and sharp decline last year. It's fine. Honestly, I'd like one more tank year because if we went Texans next year, I think it would stall out our ceiling, so doing nothing to improve at RB should help us lower our ceiling, but I don't think that's what people like Burgundy Blog are thinking lol.

Others on here talked me out of Queen as not being a fit, so not overly annoyed/disappointed here. But that's not nearly what I expected him to garner. Just under $14m APY

Queen will be like so many of the other Ravens LB’s never to be heard from again.. Bart Scott, Adaulis Thomas, Jaime Sharper, Jarrett Johnson, Ed Hartwell, just to name a few… a good no sign by Peters and Co. imho money wise

Had a monster season the season before, ranked 21st best player in the league by his peers.

Had a monster game 1 last season, 117 on the ground, up to 161 total yards, then had a high ankle sprain and wasn't as spry, wasn't the same all season.

https://www.latimes.com/sports/chargers/story/2023-09-27/austin-ekeler-practices-injured-ankle-questionable

Austin Ekeler able to practice just a bit as Chargers’ ground game limps without him

Dealing with a high-ankle sprain suffered in Week 1, Ekeler took part in individual drills and did some running.

“It’s kind of like climbing the stairs,” he said. “You’re not going to just jump to the top stair. You kind of go one by one.

...“Not being on the field; not being able to help the guys,” Ekeler said when asked what’s been toughest for him. “That’s what we’re here to do. We’re on a mission. We feel like we have everything that we need. …

...“Being on the sidelines and not being able to contribute because of stuff that you can’t control sucks. But it’s part of the game. … I’m doing everything now. It’s my job. ‘Hey, get back. Get back to help these boys out.’ ”

The Chargers have their off week following Sunday, but Ekeler said sitting out against the Raiders to give his injury more time to heal isn’t a consideration.

“When this ankle is ready, it’s ready,” he said. “If it’s tomorrow, if it’s next week, so be it. If I can play this game, I’m going to go out there and help the team.”

So now the Seahawks need a backup QB don't they? They might be a candidate to trade for Howell?

I’d rather have mariota for an extra mil than drew lock. Rough times out there. If only there were someone available for trade…

And if given a true open competition Howell would beat Geno Smith out…. Seahawks aren’t trading for a back up….imho

I think rumors of his demise are overstated. He’s not in his prime and sure perhaps has lost a step but he played on a high ankle sprain all year from what I can tell.

Yeah, sure but SD ran the crap out of him in his tenure and he did have a high ankle sprain last year.  Those are tough to deal with and think it's hard to know whether last years decline was more that.  You would think they're looking to limit his touches and use him as a gadget guy - draws/screens/3rd guy in a bunch set, etc.

Exactly. Stating that he is simply not worth much anymore is lazy analysis.
