It's not a trial about hush money, it's a trial about a candidate who paid off someone and figured out with his attorney how to hide the payments made from his attorney's personal account and claim those repayments as legal services to hide the nature of the original payoff from the voting public before an election thereby committing fraud with election financial statements, which is a felony upgraded from a misdemeanor.
