Simmsy
9 hours ago, China said: Trump cutting back on rallies to save money as cash shortfall hobbles campaign: report Faced with a massive shortfall in raising campaign cash compared to his presumptive opponent in the 2024 presidential race, Donald Trump and his advisers have decided to cut back on his high-profile campaign rallies in an effort to not drain the coffers even more. With filings showing President Joe Biden and the Democrats sitting on a war chest of $130 million going into February while the former president, while not releasing all of his numbers, did show a combined $40 million with RNC cash included, the New York Times reports the Trump and his election prospects are facing a "perilous" stage. As the Times' Maggie Haberman and Shane Goldmacher wrote, Trump has been holding donor meetings at Mar-a-Lago imploring supporters to increase their contributions. The report states, "Despite years of professing massive wealth and boasting of his desire to 'drain the swamp,' the deeply transactional former president is leaning yet again on the cash of others, turning Mar-a-Lago into a staging ground for billionaires and others with their own agendas," adding, "In a sign of the Trump orbit’s urgent need for cash, at least two donors who made seven-figure pledges to support Mr. Trump this year were nudged to see if they could cut an eight-figure check — meaning $10 million or more — instead, according to a person familiar with the request." It could be the stress of his trials or it could just be the timing of the dementia kicking in, but its not going to get any better for him. Fergasun
Trump has seemingly turned a bunch of people's minds to mush. But he has built a really scary power base: (1) Anti-government libertarians ("burn it down" types) (2) Folks who want a strong central authoritarian (3a) Xenophobic/anti-immigrant types (3b) Racists (4) Anti political status quo types (5) "We need to go back to our Christian roots" types (these folks always vote GOP, but he has enegized them more) (6) Anti-globalist, trade treaty, "America is the leader of the free world" type. Plus (7) the existing cut taxes, pro-gun, anti-abortion "conservative base" Silver lining? He is so much worse at execution parts of those competing agendas than selling himself. He basically ran his last Presidency like a GOP one and I expect it to be maybe a "more right-wing" than typical one if he is elected. Additionally, his own agenda is (8) Enrich Donald Trump as much as possible. His voters don't realize how DOA a Trump Presidency will be. The GOP does (why are they all retiring?). The idea of Trump as a strongman is so ridiculous. As President, he couldn’t secure our elections, let his sidekick certify his defeat, then did nothing about it. On his watch, he let the whole country shutdown because people were getting the sniffles. Some of these shutdown governors even have lady parts. And this beta did nothing to stop it. Even went along with it by making and taking the jab.

Califan007 The Constipated
I brought up this same tactic that Dems were reported to have used for the 2022 midterms, and it may have played a role in why the "Red Wave" turned into a pink trickle lol.. If any of these presidential election poll results are from opt-in online polling, holy ****...that type of polling should ONLY be used for stuff like measuring buying habits or feedback on new TV shows, stuff like that.
Cooked Crack
Quote Former president Donald Trump is expected to enlist Paul Manafort, the former campaign manager he pardoned, as a campaign adviser later this year, according to four people familiar with the talks. The job discussions have largely centered around the 2024 Republican convention in Milwaukee in July and could include Manafort playing a role in fundraising for the presumptive GOP nominee’s campaign, according to these people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe private deliberations. While no formal decision has been made, the four people described the hiring as expected and said Trump was determined to bring Manafort back into the fold.

PleaseBlitz
My bigger takeaway from the Manafort article, in addition to the obvious WTF, is that if 4 people in Trump's orbit are leaking this, there is going to be a lot of backstabbing and jockeying for position, which can't be great for his campaign.
