I've worn something like the ones you see after breaking a knee cap. Well, mostly for competition because we haven’t had a consistently good one in a while. No sense in letting a mediocre kicker feel safe, he needs to feel pressure to perform like he will in games. But you also want a mix of guys to be kicking for special teams work. At least 2 kickers until final cuts should be the plan every year with one on the practice squad all year.
