Dan T.
It's almost better that guys like ^^^ that haven't been arrested yet. They know they've been identified and have to stew and sweat out the consequences. The business he owns has been outed. The stress must be huge. EmirOfShmo
Rep. Zoe Lofgren's Report Bares Lawmakers' Posts Bashing Election Before Capitol Riot Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.) issued a massive 2,000-page report on Friday exposing thousands of social media posts by GOP lawmakers attacking the presidential election and spreading lies before and after the deadly storming of the U.S. Capitol by Donald Trump supporters seeking to overturn the results. Lofgren, chair of the House Administration Committee, indicated that the information could be used to oust — or criminally charge — lawmakers who illegally fomented insurrection against the very government they’ve taken a vow to serve. The exposure of posts in Lofgren’s “Social Media Review” followed a report last week in The Intercept that the FBI has already collected “thousands of phone and electronic records” of people who were at the Capitol on Jan. 6. Investigators are targeting communications between members of Congress or their staffs, and the pro-Trump insurrectionists, CNN reported, seeking any indication of conspiracies to overthrow the government. Lofgren’s report targets messages by Republican lawmakers who voted to challenge the presidential election results and who continued to peddle lies and conspiracy theories about the November vote even after the Capitol insurrection, which FBI Director Christopher Wray has characterized as domestic terrorism. Some of Trump’s staunchest supporters in the House posted more than 100 messages each casting doubt on the presidential election results in less than three months, according to the collected messages. ... The report by Lofgren’s staff is the first publicly available compilation of Facebook and Twitter posts from Nov. 3, 2020, to Jan. 31, 2021, by the 147 House Republicans who voted to challenge state-certified Electoral College votes in an attempt to stop Joe Biden from taking office. “Statements which are readily available in the public arena may be part of any consideration of Congress’ constitutional prerogatives and responsibilities,” Lofgren noted. https://www.yahoo.com/huffpost/zoe-lofgren-social-media-post-report-capitol-riot-041724981.html Information in the report broken down by state (with pdf download): https://lofgren.house.gov/socialreview 1

China
Scared Straight, Trump Edition. ‘I was wrong’: Milton man, 18, held in Capitol riot appeals to judge for release Bruno Joseph Cua, the Milton 18-year-old charged in connection with the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, wants to go home to his parents. In a letter to U.S. District Court Judge Randolph D. Moss on Thursday, Cua begged to be reunited with his family as he awaits trial, promising “not to step one foot out of line.” Cua has been in custody since his arrest on Feb. 5, and has appealed an earlier court ruling denying him bond. “I will never be the same person, jail has had its full effect me (sic), I am completely humbled, deeply remoursefull (sic) and regretful!” Cua wrote. “After all, thats (sic) what jail is for right? Teaching people a lesson? Lesson fully received, your Honor.” Cua is the youngest of the more than 300 supporters of former President Donald Trump accused in the breach of the Capitol and, among Georgians charged, faces the most serious crimes. He is among just a handful of rioters who gained access to either the House or Senate chambers. Click on the link for the full article
China
Knock-Knock: How the FBI Scares Off Would-Be Capitol Bombers he FBI-Homeland Security intelligence bulletin that circulated midnight Tuesday is ominous, but entirely predictable, given widely published reports of far-right chatter over the past several weeks: It alerts local law enforcement officials that extremists may try to breach the U.S. Capitol Thursday and attack Democratic lawmakers. The warning is based on a malevolent fantasy spread by followers of QAnon, the cultish pro-Trump movement—that Donald Trump will reemerge to take power as the rightful president on March 4, which was Inauguration Day until 1933. Preposterous, but the FBI has learned not to dismiss any threat, no matter how irrational. “It does not take an armed takeover” by an organized group to do a lot of damage, says Tom O’Connor, an FBI agent who investigated suspected domestic terrorists for 23 years. “It takes one person who believes they need to act. How possible is that, I ask you?” Dead easy, as the FBI knows from the many cases in which lone actors or a couple or three angry people unleashed spectacular destruction, including Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh, Olympic Park bomber Eric Rudolph, Unabomber Ted Kaczynski, Charleston church shooter Dylann Roof, and, most recently, Nashville bomber Tony Warner. The FBI’s ability to surveil American citizens and build domestic terrorism dossiers on them is tightly restricted by laws and regulations enacted in the post-Watergate era. That is why the FBI has developed alternative tools and techniques for finding and discouraging people who might be thinking of escalating from radical anti-government speech, which is protected by the First Amendment, to violent action, which is a crime. FBI agents are currently deploying, among other strategies, preemptive interviews, also known as “knock and talk,” as a tactic for dealing with potential troublemakers when there’s insufficient evidence to file criminal charges—for instance, people who have been out bragging in bars or “****-posting” online about their determination to come to Washington to help restore Trump to the White House, disrupt Congress or the Biden administration or intimidate lawmakers. The knock-and-talk drill is powerful, requires no intrusive technology and no warrant. It goes like this: FBI agents, sometimes with local police partners, knock on doors of people of interest and ask to interview them. The mere appearance of courteous but unsmiling and obviously well-informed badge-carriers, armed with notebooks and a long list of very specific questions, is often enough to chill someone from carrying out a half-baked scheme. China
8 hours ago, visionary said: Jacob ‘QAnon Shaman’ Chansley Kept Behind Bars as Reagan-Appointed Judge Hammers His Lawyer for ‘Publicity Stunt’ Interview on ‘60 Minutes’ Jacob Chansley, who became known as the so-called “QAnon Shaman” after being seen at the Capitol in a horned and coyote-fur headdress and face paint, was denied pre-trial release on Monday after a federal judge berated his lawyer for squandering an opportunity to communicate with his client before trial on a “media publicity stunt” interview with 60 Minutes+, which wound up harming their defense. “Such media appearances are undoubtedly conducive to defense counsel’s fame. But they are not at all conducive to an argument that the only way defense counsel could privately communicate with his client is if defendant were temporarily released,” Senior Judge Royce Lamberth, a Ronald Reagan appointee, wrote in a scathing 32-page opinion. “Given defense counsel’s decision to use what could have been a confidential videoconference on a media publicity stunt, that argument is so frivolous as to insult the court’s intelligence.” “Moreover, the fact that defendant attributes his actions on January 6th to President Trump does little to persuade the Court that defendant will not act in the same or similar ways again,” Lamberth wrote. “In fact, in his interview with 60 Minutes+, defendant stated that he does not regret his loyalty to former President Trump.” The network also interviewed Martha Chansley, the accused rioter’s mother, whose dubious remarks that her son “walked through open doors” and was “escorted into the Senate” did her son no favors. “The Court is not persuaded that defendant’s mother will ensure his compliance with any conditions of release imposed, and defendant identifies no other custodian,” Lamberth wrote.
