I think these may be mutually exclusive anyway. In order for him to be a cooperating witness he would have to be smart enough to realize that 1) Mueller may have the goods on him and/or his dad and 2) even HE won't be immune to getting thrown under the bus by papa Trump. So the two options sorta negate each other. If he's cooperating he's too smart to be 1 and if he's an idiot he's too stupid to be 2. This beats more weight in some ways than a guilty verdict, and I believe it is all part of a narrative of corruption Mueller is building.
