The base really wants to go back to open bigotry. Trump showed them it's popular enough. No more need for dog whistles.

As someone who probably falls squarely within their cross hairs as a black man and a socialist, there's a part of me that welcomes it.

Never mind those innuendos. Never mind the "soft language." Don't duck and dodge and say I'm being unreasonable for calling out how someone actually feels because they tried to make it seem like a legitimate argument for taking round about paths to fascism by way of bourgeois democracy.

"Make it plain," as Malcolm X said. Make it so plain and let the chips fall where they may. If we've learned anything over the past decade or so, there's a healthy portion of the population that has been waiting eagerly for someone to take this torch and "Make Burning Crosses Acceptable Again."

Obviously, most of me is terrified and enraged - especially when I know members of my own family condone all this. But part of me is glad they're opening up and telling us how they really feel. Makes it easier to see things.

This Roy Moore seems like such a treat. Trump will be masturbating to him daily. Hell he may even pee on a picture of him each morning too. He isn't so much pissed he back a loser as he is he missed out on a chance to back this guy. I'm sure his advisers steered him away from Moore since I really doubt Trump knew much about the guy at the time.

Meanwhile, at the Hall of Meh!

Quote

Republicans say Democrats are deluding themselves. President Donald Trump won Alabama by 28 points last year and the state hasn't elected a Democrat to the Senate in over two decades. The Democratic nominee, Doug Jones, has struggled to raise campaign cash.

But Moore provides the perfect contrast with Jones’ resume as a civil rights warrior, and an upset is not out of the question, Democrats argue.

So now, these Jones-backing Democrats are asking, will the cavalry arrive in time?

National Democrats have been monitoring the race from afar, hoping for a Moore win that would energize their base.

Jones has spoken repeatedly with Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez — including as recently as last week, when he joined Alabama Rep. Terri Sewell in Washington for a Congressional Black Caucus Foundation conference. He has been in touch with officials from the party’s Senate campaign wing. Members of the Congressional Black Caucus have been pushing party officials to send him cash and manpower before the December election.

Also, good on the gentleman from North Carolina for having enough guts/lacking enough brains to speak plainly.

I wouldn't automatically ascribe this to either integrity or stupidity.

I'd say it might even be more likely a case of him being experienced enough to know which positions wil help get him elected in NC.
