#Vikings announced release of S Taylor Mays.

I think we were in talks with this guys earlier in the FA period, but he chose the Vikings. Looks like we didn't miss out if they cut him already. Not that anyone thought he was going to do anything special.

Evan Mathis disputes Chip Kelly's claim that Mathis asked to be released multiple times http://wp.me/p14QSB-9N9O

No way, that Chip Kelly guys is TOTALLY honest. There's no way HE'D lie...like with DJax...or trying to trade for Mariota. He's a stand up football genius.

Michael Sam left CFL team over fear of being cut....

What a dumb ***. And the drama continues.

#RG3 came on strong as practiced progressed today. Was even animated & fired up after a few nice passes to Pierre Garcon. #redskins

Chris Russell ‏@Russellmania980 4m4 minutes ago

No way to prove this, but in my opinion, this is the best I've seen Griffin III look in a long while (practice, etc). Not perfect but...

John Keim ‏@john_keim 6m6 minutes ago

Thought Griffin threw the ball well today. Wasn't perfect, but was good. Gruden liked what he saw as well. More on this later...

David Elfin ‏@davidelfin 8m8 minutes ago

Jay Gruden was pretty upbeat about @RGIII today. Will mean more four months from now.

My God, this is so refreshing. I don't care, I know it's just practice, blah blah blah... but I got tired of being disappointed hearing nothing but "Robert had a so-so day" or "Robert was a bit off today, though he had a couple good throws". And then having to assuage my fears with the whole "well, he wasn't particularly good during practice in 2012, either".

Would like to hear he's looking sharp more often than not. I feel like we've actually had a pretty decent hit rate with the "offseason buzz" generating players the last few years, lol. Morris in 2012, Reed in 2013, K Rob and Breeland last year.

And we've had a pretty good hit rate going the opposite direction. Players that have struggled during the offseason did so during the season. Most secondary players, Olinemen and QBs have all had their noticeable issues during OTAs/Minicamp/TC filter through to the season.

I don't know if our local media guys are getting better at evaluating players or what, lol... but I know I'm not making this up.

My God, this is so refreshing...I don't know if our local media guys are getting better at evaluating players or what, lol... but I know I'm not making this up.

I think you're right. They mentioned good things and bad things about several players who turned out to be just about what they said during OTAs and minicamp.

- Grant runs good routes but isn't fast.

- Hankerson was up and down.

- Paul was a work in progress.

- Morris was surprising everyone.

- Griffin not being as mobile or explosive as before.

- etc, etc, etc.

The only one I remember them being way off on was that Kerrigan sort of snuck up on us because I guess it didn't jump out at people that he was better than Orakpo the last year or two, and Keim was talking about how Cofield was going to have this monster year a couple years ago and he fizzled out during the season and was pretty invisible.

That's part of the reason all the good reports have me a little more upbeat. I still have extremely low expectations, but if what we're hearing is true, Murphy should be more of a force, the defense overall should be improved, and there should be a few extra weapons on offense. I'm just hoping the right side of the OL picks things up. I know it's hard to see how they're doing, but we haven't really heard a peep about them.

Kim's NFL career began under Bill Belichick with the old Browns in 1992 after demonstrating how he'd mix martial arts in with football.

Kim said his martial arts background started as a means of self defense from a neighborhood bully who kept breaking his glasses.

Heading to Redskins minicamp so keep hitting that refresh key for updates after 3. That is, unless you have a job or something.

Rick Snider @Snide_Remarks 16m16 minutes ago

My big minicamp report will be it's really hot. Really, not a lot comes from shorts practices. Then 6 weeks off (for them, not me.)

Rick Snider @Snide_Remarks 15m15 minutes ago

And BTW, Gruden's reasons for changing to afternoon TC practices are plausible, but hot dog sales are important, too.

If we could get Evan Mathis for a 1 year deal for 3.5 mill, would you do it?  I think I would.  Again, you have to find out who your QB is this year, you lose a little bit of cap you could transfer to next year, but you gain a better chance to evaluate your QBs.

Nah. We're in rebuilding mode. You don't sign a 34 y/o guard for 1 year when you're in the middle of a rebuild.

I really want to see the pups on the field. For years, we have drafted young linemen and never let them hit the field. As soon as the old vet goes away we immediately sign a new vet. Sometimes, it works out, but usually we got mediocre or subpar play. We don't know if any of our linemen were good because they were never given a go.

Would Chad Reinhart or some of the others have been a bust here? Is Stabby, Long, Moses, not worth giving a shot?
