College guy? You realize O'Brien was New England's OC before he went to Penn State, right? Of course you didn't.

yes I know he was a nfl coordinator, never been a nfl hc, and his last stop was in college, where you know, he was a COLLEGE HEAD COACH.. hence the reason I said "college guy"....

so what was your point?

For everyone blowing me up about Gruden supposedly abandoning the run, he didn't abandon anything. In 2nd half, Texans had drives of like

3, 6 and almost 7 minutes. Add two fumbles inside the Texans' 10-yard line and a late field, prompting Gruden to have to pass, the running

Game couldn't be used as much as Gruden would have preferred.

This is great RT @CSNRedskins: Hats off to Cleveland? Jay Gruden's rookie moment http://ow.ly/BdZo2  #RedskinsTalk pic.twitter.com/ZWRwp09753

A few thoughts after watching the #Redskins game for the first time this morning...

1) Stating the obvious: #Redskins offensive line got manhandled. But it wasn't just Polumbus getting beaten, and it wasn't just by Watt.

2) Watt arguably had as much of an impact on this game as Orakpo, Kerrigan and Hatcher combined. Was Texans' o-line just that good? Dunno.

3) Easy to rip #Redskins special teams, but there were also bright spots. Andre Roberts & Tress Way both had really solid performances.

4) #Redskins have a significant team-wide fumbling problem. They also finished first in the NFC in fumbles and fumbles lost last year.

All the mistakes yesterday from the Redskins game are fixable. More concerned about injuries in key spots

Yes, this is probably not getting the attention it deserves. Reed may be the better player but I think losing Cofield is the bigger loss if they are both out for a few weeks. I guess it's a good thing we carried extra D-linemen. But Cofield, Baker and Hatcher were very effective yesterday. Much less so after Cofield left. Maybe it was Cofield's exit, maybe it was Hatcher getting worn down a bit but he's a hard one to replace. Reed's injury is incredibly frustrating but Niles Paul finally showed that he can be a reliable option in the passing game and I thought the coaches did an outstanding job of working him and Paulsen in to run routes and block respectively. Paul may be the #3 but it was more like #2 and #2A yesterday. I'll give the coaches a job well done on utilizing what they had at tight end after Reed went down. Paul will continue to be open simply because defenses will ignore him in hopes of covering Jackson, Garcon and Roberts.

Only Skip Bayless would say something like this. The Cowboys defense looks worse then our defense did last year.

I think that was much more of a sarcastic comment about the state of the NFC East than it was about the Cowboys. Literally I think he was making a statement about how bad the Cowboys looked and them still having a chance because of how poor the other teams look.

I watched a team today that was closer to winning the game then the masses realize. Two turnovers in RZ are killers. I saw what I believe again to be suspect play calling at times, not every time, but just a few times. That happens in any win or loss though. I think the OL is still broken overall. They can't dominate for strings of positive plays, it seems there is no sync, (YET). I liked what the D did collectively. I didn't like when they backed off of LOS.

The new Coach with some new players here are there will take some time to gel, I am still hopeful to see the team progress. I would close by adding, fans don't understand that there are 32 teams out there at a high level all trying to achieve the same consistency, it's not as easy as it looks.

The big two things for me are that we should have pounded the rock all day and the fumbles. Those two things are inexcusable/unacceptable. And really despite EVERYTHING else, if we just didn't fumble the ball today we almost certainly win. I'm not going to sit here and say I though RGIII looked good. But he didn't look bad either. More is needed from him for what we gave up. BUT he did not force anything, took what the defense gave him. Too often last year he'd force it deep into double and triple coverage. Quick passing game was just fine but I would have liked to see more slants and dig routes rather than just hitches. And again, should have just been running the ball much more anyway.

The main thing I disagree with you is that the O-line couldn't string together many positive plays. While this was true in the passing game it was not true in the running game. They absolutely dominated on almost every running play the entire game. On our first redone fumble I think we only passed once the whole drive. I don't think Morris or Helu had a run of less than 5 yards on that entire drive. If we had just stuck to that all day I think today's main storyline would be that the Redskins dominated the Texans' defense and look to be the best running team in the league once again. And that's without RGIII having a single designed run….

It looked like the Skins were trying to account for the backside defender in our boot schemes and running plays with Griffin. Problem was...

Griffin didn't run the zone read once and the backside EMLOS was a problem. Our run game still managed to look excellent, though. Need to...
