romank
Just a thought here. In the very rare instances that assistance from sercuity staff has been required in our section, they have been responsive, timely, and professional while taking care of the situation. With 82,000 folks, occasionally there will be a slip up, sounds like this was one of them but in no way indicative of the fan experience at the stadium IMO. emor09
Not that it's an excuse to start acting a fool yourself, but someone removing the hat from my head and throwing it down to the first row would make me very angry. Especially with all the crap that's on the ground by that point in the game. I would totally be pissed off as well, but I wouldn't be shocked. I wore a skins hat and jersey to Philly two weeks ago, and I wouldn't have been surprised if someone threw my hat. And that game was meaningless to the Eagles. A game meaningful for both teams, with everything on the line, I would have expected much worse. Still, whoever threw the hat is a total ***hole. But the reaction is what escalated the situation. Redskin4ever
Pics or it didn't happen. But I guess he doesn't want to show his cowboys colors or reveal that he was the "friend" in this story.
jbowman
Where's the blog post about the guy with a scratched up knuckle because some other Redskins fans face got in the way of his fist at the last home game? I heard he was blaming China because they made the hat that started the whole mess.
gortiz
Every fanbase has obnoxious, out of control fans, including the Redskins I know ... that is why this thread is kind of pointless. In fact, the board is getting way to flooded with too many threads about FedEx Field and with the "we get no respect" rant.

I'd say if the hat was never thrown, there wouldn't be a reaction. Whoever threw that hat isn't someone I am proud of having represent our franchise. E33Green
I hear all this, and I agree. But there is definitely something missing from this story. I sit in the LL, and there is event staff stationed at the top of each section. There is also an usher at the top of each section. There are also PG County Police within shouting distance of each section. They are EVERYWHERE on gameday. There is no way events unfolded as described in the blog. Totally agree with you, Popeman. Especially in Section 125! But that's what blogs are for: giving a totally biased, one-sided view of something! your tl:dr summary is still tl:drStill a bad situation though. fixed it for ya! I can't really fully judge the situation because I wasn't there, and maybe I'm giving the Redskins fan the benefit of the doubt. But who's to know whether the hat throw was a challenge to throw fists? Or just late-game heckling of an opposing fan? The reaction sounds like it was with the intent of starting a fight. Again, I'm looking through BnG glasses.
HailYeah
Strong possibility that he was inebriated and slurring his words and that why he had a hard time getting people to take him seriously. They could see he was punched in the face, but likely assumed he was not a completely innocent bystander
hp703
I'm sorry if this comes off harsh or cold. I'm less than inclined to believe he was actually a Redskins fan. No chance anyone gives it an entire read if it's a Pukes fan.

I used the text line and got no response after several dozen texts. That is very odd, they are normally very responsive. Unfortunately the cell networks are going to be overloaded anywhere you have 70,000 plus people unless you have 4G. In the future, make sure you are texting "SKINS" followed by your problem and location to 69050 and keep sending it over and over until you receive a response! JMUSkins
It means the author likely got defensive and conveniently left that out of the story. People do not just randomly punch others who have no involvement in a situation without being patently insane. Exactly... the whole tone of his article makes it feel like he was just out for a stroll in the park and was viciously attacked. I call BS. ---------- Post added January-4th-2013 at 11:55 AM ---------- I'm sorry if this comes off harsh or cold. Again, I'm looking through BnG glasses. I think that if you throw someones hat, or threaten/antagonize/provoke someone in any way, in any circumstance, you should expect someone to respond to it. Not everyone is going to just going to walk away from it . Without knowing all of the details that may or may not have been discovered, I'd place just as much blame on the guy that started it, without caring if he's a Redskins fan or not. Binton
http://suckerpunchedatfedexfield.tumblr.com/The entire FedExField staff is aggressively opposed to this kind of behavior, and will do everything they can to stop it once they learn of it. The attendants are all versed on how to respond to fights, or any behavior that dilutes another fan's enjoyment of the game. A text to SKINS at 69050 followed by a section and row will bring Stadium security quickly - usually within a minute or two. You can also call 301 276-6100, but it's difficult to be heard with the crowd noise. Problem fans will be escorted out of the Stadium. If more serious charges are warranted, they'll be placed in a holding cell until after the game, and then process for arrest by the PG County police after the game. This text info - SKINS 69050 - is displayed in all four corners of the stadium between the two suite levels. It can be seen from almost anywhere in the bowl. EDITED to remove my POV (Because Mark is THE MAN and said everything that needed to be said!):notworthy So you're saying if someone threw your hat away when you did nothing to provoke them, you would just pick it up and do nothing? I'm pretty sure 80% of men on this forum wouldn't handle it like that.

airborneskins
Something is not adding up. The guy is in Row 5 in section 125. There should have been an attendant at the bottom of his section that would have seen something going on. The attendants all have a buzzer with 3 or 4 buttons on it (Security is one of them). On top of that, in the Lower Bowl, PG's finest are all over the place. I cant go to the bathroom to piss without running nito atleast 1 of them. To me, this doesnt add up at all. I am sure that something happened, but I dont believe that it happened this way.

You have some cajones my friend! I know if I was sitting in Jerryworld, the Linc, etc. with my Skins gear on and someone tossed my hat, I would calmly retrieve it and try to bring as little attention on myself as possible. Perhaps report the guy to stadium security. NO WAY do I start screaming at the guy to fight me to fight me in the parking lot like the author's friend did. I reckon that would be a good way to get my ass kicked. So you're saying if someone threw your hat away when you did nothing to provoke them, you would just pick it up and do nothing? Again, starting a fight against an entire section in an NFL stadium wearing the opposing team's jersey is a surefire way to get your ass kicked. Who are the Cops going to arrest if they get involved? The 100 fans wearing the home team's jersey or the obnoxious boor wearing the opposing jersey that sticks out like a sore thumb?
Kurd Cudins
I believe two things. One, there is more to the story. Two, if you are skins fan and you brought a cowboys fan to the game(even a significant other), you deserve to be punched in the face. Although, you should be able to see it coming. MassSkinsFan
I punched a baby when Al Mo fumbled against the Gnats on MNF. Classic! Reminds me of when the original Mass_SkinsFan posted about punching a man holding a baby. The author is a Pukes fan, no doubt in my mind. That doesn't matter because everyone involved with this loses, but I'm sure he's no Skins fan. Fail to the PukesFan!!!

Heckling is verbal ribs. Not physical anything.
