You have to be kidding me.
big old waaaaat. he's been great.

Um, he's #23 in the league in punting average, and he has the 3rd most amount of returned punts in the league cause he doesn't get enough hangtime. If that's "great" for you guys, then not sure what to tell you. We could do better than a 38 year old retread. Not to mention that opposing punters are averaging over 50 yards/punt again us because since we never try to block a punt/kick, opposing kickers have all day to punt and make FGs (haven't missed against us yet this year). We're losing that field position/special teams battle.

Yeah, don't forget two blocks as well.

I wouldn't say great, I wouldn't say horrible. Just middling at this point in his career. Wouldn't mind a upgrade if one is out there, injury or not.

Honestly, I think Danny Smith just ruins specialists. Gano had an excellent pedigree at FSU. Rocca was really good his first year, but regressed badly. Durant Brooks was one of the better punting prospects coming in, but we ruined him as well. ARE was a good returner at Pittsburgh but horrible here. Banks has been pretty bad, and some of it has to be bad coaching.

After reading the Washington times article, I am currently dealing with the same injury as Garcon. (Inflamed Capsule of the Second Toe.) Very painful to push off, Decreased my speed down to about 70% while playing football.

I was never able to rest because of my job where im on my feet, but it was a lingering issue for me for over six months. It was the kind of thing that started feeling better between games, but after (and to an extent during) the game it was back to square 1, with pain during walking.

:doh:People here cannot be this ridiculous. Even though Garcon's injury calls for rest in order to heal properly, there are still fans here that want him to simply shoot up before each game, play and not allow his toe to heal and quite possibly damage it further enough to lose him for the rest of the season. Wow!!

Do you all think he will be able to play at full speed again this season?

Hmm.

Maybe we just don't punt enough for me to see it. Retracted. :)

Everything I have heard/read indicates that he can't do further damage to it and it is a matter of playing through pain.

Sit him until the bye week, re evaluate at that time. Clearly practicing and running on sets him back. I get flashbacks of 'The Comb" and his never ending injury riding a bike on the sideline only to go inactive prior to the game. WR need the feet to be working to be effecive, his are not. Until they are he sits. Unless this is the greatest decoy of all time by Shanahan to have him catch 200 yards against the Giants....which it is not.

We are almost at the halfway point of the season and he has missed more than he has played. Expensive addition that to this point has provided minimal rewards. Get him healthy for after the bye and hopefully he can start earning that big contract.

It's inflamed, and that inflammation can be reaggravated and grow worse. It is a matter of letting it heal properly, because it is the kind of injury where even if you are playing through pain you are physically slowed, and at the NFL level that means you aren't as effective.

If Garcon can't play then he can't play. Simple as that.

No sense in activating him while someone else sits idly on the sideline.

Agreed, we have a lot of WR depth (a lot unproven), but until he gets better he sits. My fear is that this things lingers around all season, hope not.

What is the story with Sav? Bad knee? Can this guy that they are brining in today kick off? Maybe give Kai a break from that?

Hopefully. Rocca hasn't performed well this year. It's a relief when he manages not to shank it.

Outside the two block punts in the beginning of the season, I thought Sav Rocca has been pretty decent. He did pin the Vikings back a couple of times last week. To me, that would be a loss if he can't play.

So the majority of our offseason pick ups have been close to useless =\

Meriweather/Garcon= hurt and can't play, one of them has yet to take a snap.

Jackson- suspended. ...who else did we pick up? Morgan? Meh, kind of a waste. Williams at Safety is ok I guess. ..

Except thats coming from our brilliant medical staff. Sorry but I don't trust them clowns at anything. All they have done is being consistent on diagnosing a condition incorrectly and giving us incorrect timelines on when to expect a player back.

without him, there is no 76 yard td run by RGIII

I used to be hard on Garcon...now, I say just let him sit til the bye. The offense is still pretty damn good without him. I'm still majorly disappointed in our WRs as a whole though

We also picked up a veteran linebacker who was cut and Cundiff. I still am a fan of Morgan. He is pretty good and will be better if we get Garcon back. Overall, not a good free agency year. But, these are our Redskins and we love them!!
