Robert Griffin III poised in Redskins preseason debut

The true beginning of the Robert Griffin III era in Washington doesn't happen until Sept. 9 at the Superdome, but Redskins fans got a taste of the quarterback's poise in Thursday's preseason opener.

Griffin played the first three offensive series against the Buffalo Bills, finishing 4-of-6 passing for 70 yards and one touchdown.

"It felt extremely good to come out (and play)," Griffin III told Rick "Doc" Walkeron on the Redskins Radio Network. "Coach did a good job calling plays, got me in rhythm and helped get the offense in rhythm on that third drive. And that's what it's all about. You don't always have to go out and try to put together the best scheme to the one play to the one route that's going to be wide open. Sometimes you have got to go out and out-execute the team."

Griffin's final pass of the night was a slip screen to Pierre Garcon, who took it 20 yards before somersaulting into the end zone for a touchdown that capped an eight-play, 80-yard drive covering nearly four minutes.

Griffin to Garcon will be a hook-up to watch. The former Indianapolis Colts receiver had three catches for 58 yards and the TD with RG3 in the game.

Griffin looked cool and under control in his debut, giving way to Rex Grossman with 3:40 remaining in the first quarter and Washington leading 7-3. Redskins fans, feel free to stare at RG3's 145.8 passer rating with glorious wonderment.

Victory formation when we could have scored shows something. It shows that we still won the game without coming back. We didn't blow our lead once because of our superior defense. Not only that, it shows we have a genuine sportsmanlike team. I loved seeing shanny making players do push ups and chewing them out. This is a genuine winning, old school team. It's got heart, you can tell. The oline and secondary surprised me in good ways.

He showed exactly what I was hoping to see: poise, command of the offense, smart decisions, accuracy. One thing I really liked seeing was him looking off defenders a couple times on pass plays; rookies are much more prone to stare guys down and he didn't do that much.

Did he audible? I must have missed that. Did he audible more than once?

I only saw him do it once but it looked decisive and it seemed to work because they picked up a decent amount on the run if I remember correctly.

Is this the thread where we masturbate over RGIII? Pants are off, I'm all in.

Pants off dance off!!!

This was my favorite part of the story:
