Official Extremeskins Tailgate - 10/16/11

was.pngvs phi.png

Unleash the Beast !!

The Washington Redskins are 3-1 heading into the 2nd quarter stretch of the

season. I still have not figured out how good this team is, but I have a feeling

we have not seen the full power of it yet. This game the Redskins will have to

show their "true colors". In order for the Skins to do well, they will have to

score. I would not mind a 10 topping pizza from Papa Johns the next day!

This year the Extremeskins Tailgate will have containers available for the first

year of the Extremeskins Charity Fund. There will be two containers. One

container will be for pop tabs (the little tabs on the top of aluminum beer and

soda cans)... this is to benefit the Ronald McDonald House. If you drink a

beer or coke, don't forget to take off the tab and put it in the container before

throwing away!!! The other container will be for monetary donations, and will

be for the the charity selected slected this year: The Wounded Warrior Project!

Please donate what you can!

Our tailgates this year have been absolutely fantastic and I want to thank

every single one of you guys, because people have been stepping up more and

more with lots of great food, drinks and much needed supplies. This tailgate is

getting bigger and better year after year, and the reason is because each and

every one of you does such an awesome job. Don't think this goes unnoticed

either... The Redskins organization knows who we are and likes how we present

ourselves as fans and as responsible tailgaters. Lets continue to do our best as

the best tailgate at Fedex Field!

I am sure most of you are familiar with our tailgate threads, but I like to

emphasize that we try to be as organized as we possibly can. At the bottom

of this post you will see 4 sections (Food, Drinks, Supplies and Needed

Items). We ask that if you plan on attending, and if you can donate items to

the tailgate, that you check what we have and what we need and post what

you can bring. I will keep the lists updated as frequently as I can. We

understand that in some situations, that folks cannot bring something, but

we do ask that people who regularly attend the tailgate try to chip in

something.

PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! Remember:

Food/Drinks/Supplies are appreciated over monetary donations

What is it:

We are a gathering of die hard Washington Redskins fans who love to come

together and have a good time out in the lots before and after the game.

Our tailgate has become a very popular point at Fedex Field, and we have

been featured on numerous news and television shows. If you like to eat

great food and enjoy tasty beverages while playing games, listening to tunes

and chatting about the brugundy and gold with fellow die hard fans, then

this is the place for you!

When is it: <-Tentative

October 16th. 9:00 am - 12:45 pm. Post game tailgate times vary (but yes

there is a post game tailgate!). The tailgate always starts the moment the

parking lot opens (4 hours before game time) and we start packing up around

30-45 minutes before game time. Many of us arrive even earlier to do a bit of

pre-tailgating on Redskins Road before the lot is opened... you can usually

find a bunch of us at the very front of the line :)

Where is it:

We have found a nice spot in the Fedex Field parking lot that offers us a ton

of room and protection from cars running all over the place as well as other

amenities.

Section E-43 in the Green Lot (see map below).

From 495

  • Take exit 17B to merge onto MD-202 W/Landover Rd toward Bladensburg W
  • At the first light, turn left onto Brightseat Rd
  • At the first light, go straight onto Redskins Rd (stadium should be straight ahead of you)
  • When you get into the parking area surrounding the stadium, make the first available left
  • Go to the back of the lot (tree line)
  • Follow till you see the signs on the poles for E-42 & E-43 (we are smack in between)
  • We are against the treeline. You should see the 2 flagpoles with black flags and redskins flags as well as a large group of people and tents.

Who can come:

Absolutely everyone... the more the merrier! This tailgate originated as a

tailgate for the ExtremeSkins and RedskinRoadtrips boards, but it has

expanded and has brought in not only folks from other fan sites, but it has

become a haven for all Redskins fans, their friends and their families. We

accept fans of all sorts, even of other teams. We ask if you come to the

tailgate, that you remember one thing... treat others as you would want to

be treated! We appreciate the razzing of opponents fans, as a matter of

fact, we encourage it! We do not however, tolerate any physical violence,

threats, property damage, etc...

Fans of all ages are welcome (We have non-alcoholic items as well). We

have lots of kids at our tailgate :)

What can I do?

We prefer that folks bring food/drinks/supplies rather than money. While

we do not solicit any contributions to the tailgate, they are welcome.

Many of us who help run the tailgate spend alot of money on the supplies

that we provide at every tailgate. Anything you can do to help is highly

desired and appreciated, such as bringing food, drinks, supplies or even

donating monetarily (which is distributed among the core members of the

group).

During the course of this tailgate's history, every year, we have had people

step up and become core members that help with the organization, setup

and supply of the tailgate, which has resulted in its success. If you would

like to help out in this capacity, please let us know.

If you are bringing a food, drink or supply item to the tailgate, please post a

response in this thread with what you plan to bring !!

Who to contact:

You can get most of your questions answered in this thread, but if you have

specific questions or concerns, please contact Huly or myself via PM or by

emailing: pez@gwu.edu

We will try to get back to you in a timely manner.

Again... most questions can be answered by members in this thread we have

alot of ES Tailgate veterans!

So stoked for this.... Both Mark the Homer an Pez have been kind enough to correspond via PM with me about some info considering I'm an out of towner and I really appreciate it.

I will be there... Bringing my Dad, who is an Eagles fan... Sort of, not real passionate about it.

I'm staying in Laurel and will have a rental car... Plan on getting there a little before the gates open. Not familiar with the area so I might try to handle some of the simpler items... Sign me up for napkins, plates, forks, cups, etc.... If you could give me a rough count of how many of each I'd need that would be helpful. I will handle all plastic wear, etc... And I'll try and be there right at the start of the tailgate.

Can't wait!

Pumped for this. My first trip back since 2008. No car this year, so supplies will be limited. I am going to try to get a walking cooler and I will bring a bottle of JD, as per my usual. Can't wait for this......

If I can lug more stuff I will. I'll keep you posted

Looking forward to seeing you again!

If you have time while you're here, eat at Pasta Plus great local Italian place. It's in a little strip mall in Laurel and looks like nothing. But it's pretty damn good.

Any good bourbons on the horizon for this one??

Gonna have some more Stagg and Eagle Rare, trying to decide on a third to bring for some variety, probably either a William Larue Weller Antique Collection or a Pappy 20. Any preference of the two you'd like to try? I have some Jeffersons 18 also.

I'm at your mercy, Bob. I'm sure all of them will be excellent.

Kleese, buy more than you think you'll need. I wouldn't worry about trying to take care of all the plasticware that will be used, because unless pez and Huly have been working on their ESP, there's no advance count to give you. The crowd has been a bit smaller this year for some reason, but considering that we're 3-1 heading into a division game, I think attendance this week will probably spike.

Other people will likely bring some, but I would get several big stacks of paper plates, several big sleeves of cups (the bar can always use extras), a giant box of knives, a giant box of forks, and go from there. You're coming from out of town and having to pay for a rental car, nobody's expecting you to put out a ton.

Edit: Forgot to add our contribution.

50+ ABTs

24ish Hot Dogs

8 Burgers

Buns

2 Cases of Soda

2 Coolers w/ice

Right now I have my table, canopy, grill, chairs, cooler with beer/soda/water. I will bring meatballs and something else to be determined to eat. I also have some plates/cups and silverware left over from our St Louis tailgate to share.

Jealous. So wish I could be there. Make sure FedEx is loud & rocking Sunday!! Talking about potentially making the New Years game in Philly if you feel up for one more trip this year!

I am so ready for this game!!

I will be there with Ben, John, my bro & sis-in-law Martin (guest bartender) and Tina and we'll bring:

"The Bar" - In honor of breast cancer awareness month, we will be serving as our special drink this game, a pink drink called a Pink *****. So breast cancer research will be our charity at the bar for a portion of the proceeds. Make sure to stop by and get your fill of pink *******!

The bar needs rum (light and dark), vodka, honey turkey grenadine, and mixers like pineapple juice and red bull/ coke etc. Also if anyone could chip in a bag of ice in someone's cooler that would be very helpful. Thank you to whoever donated ice to us last time.
