Oh please I would LOVE for them to take Newton. He's a prototypical Cowgirl player: Million dollar talent and 50 cent brain. :D

INDIANAPOLIS -- One of the 60 interviews the Dallas Cowboys will conduct with draft prospects at the NFL scouting combine over the next few days will be with Heisman Trophy winner Cam Newton, according to vice president/director of player personnel Stephen Jones.

Newton led Auburn to a BCS championship in his one year as a starter, throwing for 2,854 yards and rushing for 1,473 and combining for 50 touchdowns.

"I think obviously that position of quarterback you're immediately going to start looking for leadership," Jones said. "You're going to start looking for intangibles, and his physical abilities are pretty good. As far as in an interview, you're looking for a guy who is going to be the face of your organization that you feel like will be a leader for your team and is a winner."

The Cowboys hold the ninth pick in the first round of April's draft and have not drafted a quarterback in the first round since selecting Troy Aikman with the No. 1 overall pick in 1989. Interviewing Newton should be viewed as the Cowboys learning as much as they can about a player who burst onto the scene in one year, not a surefire sign they would draft him.

"This is what we do every year," Jones said. "You got to do all your work because you never know what's going to happen in a draft. It's part of doing your diligence as a personnel department. You can never assume anything and you can't leave any stone unturned. Give [director of college and pro scouting] Tom [Ciskowski] and our guys a lot of credit; they work hard at it and we get prepared."

What's so bad about drafting Cam Newton?

hes not the guy for us, the cow****es dont need him, and it would be jerruh wasting his most valuable pick just to make a splash and or to prevent us from getting him. its the perfect scenario. unless of course one actually wants the Skins to draft him.

1 of 60 interviews...........that means he's one of the best 60 players to interview based on being a prospect. There is no way Dallass takes him at 9. NO WAY! What a waste of writing space.

This happens every year. If you look back to this time last year we were talking to a bunch of guys that we weren't going to draft. There's a lot of subterfuge going on with teams. Nobody wants to show their hand so you talk to everybody. You can't just talk to the guys you want.

That being said, I would be giddy if Dallas made this pick.

Even Dallas talking about it has to be a shot at Romo sits to pee. Smoke screen or not, Romo sits to pee will have this in the back of his mind until the draft. If someone takes Newton before Dallas picks, he will always wonder if Dallas would have used the pick on him or not.

I see this a win for the Skins no matter what happens now.

You fellas are not reading Jerruh's quote...

He said he wants a QB with LEADERSHIP ability...because, you see, right now he doesn't have one.

Look for Romo sits to pee to be traded, if not this year, then next.

well they made a dumb pic last year with Dez Bryant when they had so many needs that needed to be addressed on the defensive side...(although Dez is an absolute beast...so maybe long term isn't a bad pick, but short term it is)

Oh, oh...somebody is on the 'talent' train again.

He's a beast alright...a guy who the GM dressed down in the press late in the season.

You puke fans are too funny. :rotflmao:
