Didn't think there was much in the van Dijk challenge on Firmino yesterday but having just seen it back on TV thats a free kick the edge of the box at worst, possibly a penalty, and a certain red regardless for the big Dutchman. Clattenburg was as useless as ever all game both ways so it's no surprise he missed that.

Shrugs, **** happens. That's football. Refereeing decisions tend to even themselves out over the course a season.

Another positive point gained on the road to 19.

Sakho scoring the U-23's just now.

Can hopefully only aid to someone buying him January.

Hail.

*Edit* Finished 2-0 BTW. Ben Woodburn added another with his fourth the U-23's this year. With Everton beating City, there's just 3 points separating Everton, City and L'pool the top three now all having played the same games. Exciting league this one to follow.

A Rob Green howler aside, I felt we competed pretty well. Obviously when you have 40 million coming in on player sales over the summer you're going to have more quality. Stevie Wonder could manage Newcastle to the top of the Championship realistically. Premier League money gonna keep making it harder and harder for other teams to get promoted from the championship.

When did Gastón Ramirez and Adama Traoré become such an attacking threat?

Real good watch this. Middlesbrough bossing the first quarter. Chelsea the second. Heck of a save from Pedro by Valdés. Great poaching by Costa on the goal. If terribly bad defending from Middlesbrough for the first time the half.

Feel Chelsea need a second to sit comfortable. Should be a fun second half.

Makes it more frustrating there was (and still is in many areas) absolute carnage going on at Elland Road when you had all that money to aid getting back up huh?

The complete turnover in our squad when we got relegated will never be seen again though. Literally kept one player in Gary Kelly from our promotion side and spent one million that summer. Miracle that we stayed up that year really. We never had money coming in like clubs do these days though with the parachute payments too. Newcastle spent 57 million this summer. Embarrassment of riches at this level.

All relative. There was still a good chunk the went Leeds way. Just your finances were in such carnage you didn't have it to play with on the squad.

A lot of respect to boro.  That traore kid was an absolute NIGHTMARE.  I'll do more analysis later, but good to get a win and be at the top of the table.  I was sweating all game

Yeah, very hard fought win that was in the balance right up until the whistle. Middlesbrough just lack that extra quality in key areas.

Certainly scope to get in behind down the wings. I'll be real surprised if he doesn't tweak next Saturday against Tottenham. The way they work and press high, those central three will need a lot more protection.

Congratulations. The test of just where this recent Chelsea revival is comes the next two Saturday's at home to Tottenham and away at Citeh.

Good God when will the media stop!

'West Ham Refuse to rule out Sturridge!'

Because like Daniel Sturridge would EVER drop down to someone like West Ham! Just where do they get this ****?

Does he and Klopp need to cut their fingers and write in blood that Sturridge is dead happy at Anfield, Klopp's dead happy with him, he's going nowhere and will be here next season to play a big part? How many MORE times do either have to say it?

Hail.

Just watched Leverkusen for the first time since 2005 out of pure curiosity on this kid. Very impressive 69 minutes. Like watching Mané in so far as he's so easy on the eye gliding over the park and constantly interchanging positions. Both attacking and defensively. (Kid likes a tackle.). Mainly on the right wing, but popped up a fair bit on the left and through the middle. Comfortable on either foot and a great dribbler on not the best pitch in Moscow. Very unselfish in playing others in when he could of gone on. Very good passer and crosser of the ball. Boundless energy and quick. Not Mané rapid (but then who is?), but no slouch either.

Need to see more of him but on that showing in the Champions League at such a young age he'd be a great addition for the future if Pulisic doesn't arrive.

Currently still on a German Champions League kick watching Dortmund and this is a mad game and then some. 5 goals in 25 minutes Some great ones. Some horrific 'keeping and defending.

3-2 Dortmund and Warsaw just hit the bar for what of been 3-3. And Dortmund go straight down the other end and go 4-2 up.

4-2 and we're only 29 minutes in! Madness but well fun.

Hail.

*Edit* 5-2. 32 minutes in.
