ThomasRoane
Wow! I triple-checked the date to make sure it wasnt an April Fools joke. This will be very, very interesting!
wvuskins15
no team would take on the guaranteed money Portis has coming to him in his contract, only the skins would be dumb enough to have that in his deal is the guaranteed money for this year? its uncapped year so it could happen...what about a 3rd rounder? i love the idea of having the competition between the 3 of them. fwo40
Damn. Don't like this at all. This is a deep RB draft a good quality starter or at least timeshare guy could've been had late.
Cooooley47
How would you like to be drafted by Washington and work on the field with these 3 backs. If you cant learn from them, you arent cut out for this league anyway.
HAILSKINSNYC
I really think you'll see alot of roster decisions made after the mini camp in april... I think you might see one of these RB's cut and a bunch of our defensive players cut or traded....guys like carter, golston and possibly Landry. wvuskins15
My Jahvid Best dream just died.Yea This was a suprise. Now we have 3 aging fomer Pro Bowl RBs. its not dead yet...probably just covering all its bases but, from twitter: RavensInsider Cal running back Jahvid Best set to visit the Chargers, Redskins, Jets and Browns, per a source close to the program
TheismannQuote
I am baffled. Baffled. I like fast willie, though. Much like I like all of our runningbacks. With that nostalgic love of 2006

WhoRUSupposed2Be
Someone on here caught on when they said that "this signals us drafting a QB and then focusing primarily on OL." There could be some arguments made here, but I like the premise of it.
Dr Drunkenstein
This is all part of Shanahan's master plan to befuddle fantasy football players as to who they should start on a weekly basis..........just like he did in Denver.

Ryman of the North
Good signing, we have FIVE draft picks so getting an Rb would have been stupid no matter how deep the draft is. we need some more OL competition and some help at dt and linebacker and safety, perhaps a corner if a great one falls. anytime we add depth and competition its a good thing, besides Shanny wants to copycat the 3-4 maybe he is copycatting having 3 competant backs from the saints? ChiefPowhatan17
Is this for real?????? OK, I guess we will not be drafting a late round RB.
NO iD=A-Ok
I like the idea, but I was hoping that we would have used the draft. That way, we could've drafted Spiller, Jahvid and Blount to work together for years to come...
Truant
Parker or Johnson won't make the team, just a guess. My money is on Johnson.
Shiv
Willie Parker and Larry Johnson combined have 498 more carries than Portis (2,176). Portis might be done IF we draft a RB.
TheLongshot
I don't see why people have a problem with this. This is basically a flyer on the guy. If we cut him, no skin off of our nose. It also does not preclude selecting a back in the draft for the same reason.
DGREENHULK
At first I thought this was a thread I didn't see yesterday..an April Fools Joke...but I bet CP isn't laughing Shanny and Bruce mean business about competion at the RB spot. ThomasRoane
One of them will be cut, my guess is CP. Shanny clearly isn't impressed. Most likely that's the case. Yet what does that say about Shanny's credibility? Knowing this may be the case we still are able to land a pretty big named back when there are already two big-time backs on the roster. My confidence in Allen/Shanny grows every day!

skinsfan190
Shanahan is not playn around with this competition stuff. He is dead serious. I love that part of this. I still want a younger RB with some fresh legs. It's ok though. I think were preparing to get Ryan Williams from Virginia Tech next year.

THE HAMMER'IN HOG
I would love to get Best, but this is the right way to go, we cannot afford to draft a RB this year with all the needs we have in other areas, we now have depth at RB and we are not married to any of them, it's a good move.
