Saboton. They're pretty big in Europe, I believe, but the only way I heard of them is from a Swedish friend of mine. They play a lot of stuff based off of history (World Wars mainly, but other stuff, too). It's a nice combination of history and metal which I find to be an awesome mix.

I really like Valencia, a pop-punk band from Philly. They're definitely going to blow up one day.
They are really nice. They played the venue I work at one night. Unfortunately, the Phills were playing game 1 of the series I believe and only a few people came out.

Very good live band though.

If y'all like a southern bluesey folk type of sound, check these out.

Lucero- My favorite at the moment.

http://www.myspace.com/lucero - check San Fransisco and Dangerous Thing.

Deer Tick

http://www.myspace.com/deertick

Drag the River

http://www.myspace.com/dragtheriver

If anybody likes these bands, hook me up with some more great, similar music.

Also, I help with booking for an awesome small venue just north of Philly, if you know any bands looking for places to play, that aren't so local.

Idk if they're real popular up around Maryland, But i find quiet a few people dont know who they are in the south BUT i love them MODEST MOUSE!!

I'd say they are pretty well know, like Wilco.

Also, if you like that type of music, check Lucero and some others I posted, you may like them too.

I got That Much Further West for Christmas. I wanted to like it. I really did but two many of the songs sound too much alike.

That's not my favorite album, even though most it is.

A lot of their songs do sound the same. Listen a little more.

Most of their music is super depressing, just right for post break up.

Really? You're really lucky, I would give anything to see them live.

See my sig (if you have them enabled). Emilie Autumn.

The Baltimore show was great- decent turn out. Fantastic performance by Emilie and the Bloody Crumpets.

DC probably had no more that 250 people- which is a sparse turn out for the 9:30 club. I enjoyed it because I was right up front. But was dissapointed that DC couln't have given her a better croud. Although those who did show up were very enthusiastic.

Some speculated that more showed up for Baltimore (DC hadn't been announced and was added later). Due to the fact that not everyone can or want to make it to two shows. I'm glad I did.

Emilie's style is a bit different. She is a great violinist and plays the harpsichord wonderfully in many of her songs. Combine that with some industrial styled beats and a haunting range of lyrics and you get the basic picture. Opheliac has all of this. She dabbled with more of a New Age style with her previous album Enchant.

Additionally she is an author who has released a good amount of poetry. But just released her masterpiece book: The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls. This book has it all, schizophrenia, manic depression, and a story that is riveting. I just got it for Chiristmas and am working on it- a great read.
