Bang
That would be "who the fook..." I think that band grabs a riff and nails it better than most. They can get me moving around pretty good. ~Bang
Spaceman Spiff
Shooter Jennings. Everything he's ever done: Electric Rodeo: Put the O back in Country: The Wolf: All three of the above are good country/rock albums. I don't particularly like country music, but this isn't the poppy country crap that you find on the radio. His newest record is with a reworked band/sound called Hierophant and the album is called Black Ribbons: It's an amazing concept album and you can't say that it fits into one specific genre. Sounds like Pink Floyd at times, other times it sounds like NIN, other times it sounds like Skynyrd. Read these reviews: http://thewordzombie.com/?p=1176 http://thewordzombie.com/?p=1411 I'm not sure why Shooter isn't more famous...well, I do know why: Cause he doesn't sound like the **** you hear on the radio. You should try to make your way down for the BTS show is october, it's at the national and only 20 I think edit: make your way up I should say. Also, I saw Minus the Bear in Charlotte earlier this year. Heard of them?
SloppyOneXXVI
Arctic Monkeys, but they're probably pretty well known Arctic Monkeys is my favorite band right now. I would recommend to go along with them. It's another Jack White creation. They might be popular, I never listen to the radio.Wolfmother is another good one, even though their second album is basically a new band. I would guess most people have heard their songs at one time or another, (one of their songs is in the movie "The Hangover") but might not know the actual band. TradeTheBeal!
My 2 favorite bands that haven't quite hit the mainstream, and thus could technically qualify:-Dropkick Murphys: who got semi-popular with "I'm Shipping Up to Boston" (featured in The Departed) -Flogging Molly: I reccommend the song "Seven Deadly Sins" to start with Careful everybody. He's Irish and he drinks a ton!
dockeryfan
I like Gillian Welch an awful lot. She plays with Dave Rawlings, and people might know her voice from the O Brother Where Art Thou Soundtrack. It's an americana sound, if you like that. Here's the song that people might recognize. lyN-krBTWLY&feature=related

skinfan133
The Reign of Kindo TUPILO5ycqg Thought Chamber zIAB1n9WlK4 Eluveitie rfQmEIIkMFc& Ok, there's tons more that I listen to, but stuff that is somewhat known like Dream Theater, Opeth, Between the Buried and Me, Gojira, Mastodon, Jeff Beck, LTE (duh with Dream Theater), A Perfect Circle, Porcupine Tree, SYL, Redemption, Spheric Universe Experience, Steve Morse Band, Threshold, and various others, but these guys aren't necessarily obscure enough that nobody has heard their stuff before. I'm fairly confident that 95% of you have no idea who the three artists above are. I hope y'all enjoy. Also, I've got tons of stuff in my itunes that simply has no home on the internet, most of it is jazz, so maybe someday if I get permission to host it on youtube I'll post some. skinfan133
The Butterfly Effect is another good hard rock/metal band This band is very talented. I really like the underlying jazz influence I'm detecting. If you like complex hard rock or jazz rock, this band is good stuff guys.

skinfan133
For people mentioning Coheed and Cambria: When I hear their technicality and musical talent (and their more progressive songs) my eyes light up with delight. Then their singer opens his mouth, the chorus starts and the talent disappears into just another emo-influenced crap-fest. The sheer progressive might of the riff in "Welcome Home" is incredible in that it's both catchy and complex. They have other moments of extreme brilliance which makes it all the more sad that I can't stomach their music as a whole. I think their singer tries way over the top to channel Geddy Lee while imitating the emo craptastic singing style of, well, emo bands. Rush is an awesome band, and Geddy's singing works for their music, but man, I just can't stand Coheed's singer.
