SUSkinsFan
I was debating with a friend of mine about great uses of music in movies and television so I thought I'd open it up to the ES crowd. For me two of the best are "Layla" in Goodfellas, and "Brothers in Arms" from The West Wing (Season 2 finale).
Sticksboi05
The new NBA Playoffs commercials use great music. Ecstasy of Gold in The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.
PokerPacker
"Mad World" in Donnie Darko was pretty good.
SC_RedskinsFan
"Can't you hear me knockin" was good in Casino and in Blow.
Burgold
Fatal Attraction used music awesomely. The way they ratcheted up the tension scene to scene until your were freaking out by the end of the movie was brilliant. Otherwise, Sound of Music, Moulin Rouge, and Fantasia. SUSkinsFan
I have to include pretty much the entire Scrubs series. They almost always found the perfect use of music in their episodes.
Burgold
Wonder Years did that pretty darn well too. But the best is probably Looney Tunes. Those cartoons without the music wouldn't be nearly as good. They were a perfect integration of music, timing, voice, and imagery.
Larry
The new NBA Playoffs commercials use great music.Ecstasy of Gold in The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. I've heard that music in commercials before, but I don't think it was the NBA playoffs they were advertising. But I agree, it was really well done. (I was disappointed that they edited it, though.) ixcuincle
Sean Callery and 24. I think that's it. 24 is really the only tv show I watch in Prime-time that has music though.
Larry
I'd also nominate two scenes from 2001. Straus' Blue Danube Waltz for the spacecraft docking scenes, and the Gayane Ballet Suite for life aboard Discovery (such as the "jogging around the carousel" scene.) (Loneliest music I've ever heard.) Link to the second scene I'm referring to.

SkinsBry
and "Brothers in Arms" from The West Wing (Season 2 finale). Right after Mrs. Landingham's funeral and all the other **** Pres. Bartlet was dealing with and went through. Yeah, I agree 100%.
Sticksboi05
i dont think its ecstasy of gold, unless im thinkin of the wrong commercial I know it's not. I said Ecstasy of Gold in the movie, Good, Bad, Ugly.

PCS
The score for We Were Soldiers was very well done I thought. Sgt. MacKenzie was perfect for a few scenes as well. Gladiator I thought was another one that had a nice score to it.
Larry
I know it's not. I said Ecstasy of Gold in the movie, Good, Bad, Ugly. Ah, got it! You were referring to two different things. OK, then I nominate Ecstasy of the Gold from the Nike commercials. (Link in my post #14.)

Larry
BTW, as far as use of music in a movie: I liked something John Barry did in Somewhere in Time: In the film, Raphsody on a Theme by Paganini is used several times. Every time it's used, the characters are actually hearing the music. (They're playing it on a record player, or it's in a music box, or something.) I like the use of a "theme" which the characters actually hear.
China
Platoon...Adagio for Strings I'm having a hard time finding good videos for it but Pulp Fiction has a good musical soundtrack.
Larry
I also liked the use of Al Hirt's Flight of the Bumblebee in one of the Kill Bill movies. I thought it really fit with the scene. (Can't find a video of the scene, though.) Didn't like the movie much. But liked the music in that one scene.
