Were there jokes about 9/11 during Bush's dinners?

I guess you forgot the slide show W spoke about and showed of himself at one of his dinners looking for WMD's under his Oval Office desks and other areas...mocking their existince that put our troops in harms way....yeah that wasn't tasteless at all to you probably but what of a parent, spouse, or sibling of a soldier sent to Iraq?

so having browsed through this thread, here's where we are now at.

The right makes Tasteless jokes. The left gets outraged.

The left makes tasteless jokes, the right gets outraged.

Both sides are hypocrites.

Anyone who denies this is plum dumb.

Different sides have different kinds of wackos. Let us not pretend that we are dealing with a symmetrical situation here.

This reminds me of "Obama is a socialist" McCain saying "he goes negative too" about "McCain's economic policies suck" Obama.

Her humor was tasteless and I think the fact that our president laughed at jokes implying someones death was uncalled for.

Just curious what would have happened if the same jokes were used, but directed at the president instead of the those it was intended for?

there's no hope for you if you can't tell the difference between a radio blowhard and the President of the United States of America.

while it's not good to wish death on anyone, i will state that it's different to wish death on the president as oppossed to a normal citizen.

Most likely you would spend hours defending it it on here. You would want to start several threads on it, but since you don't have that ability anymore you would probably spam several other unrelated political threads with articles talking about the complete overreaction of the evil liberal media and how if you don't like freedom then get out of the country. Probably throw in a few socialism rants as well.

You guys are really being absurd. Obama wasn't laughing "at jokes implying someones death was uncalled for." So now, one joke becomes "jokes"?

Gee whiz, if only you and the other right-wingers showed such concern in the past for tasteless jokes. I cannot even take this question seriously, after all the stuff we've heard directed towards the President, even before he was elected.

Yep. Ain't that the truth!

81artmonk is merely parroting the current meme on the right-wing blogosphere: "Comedian Skyes wishes Limbaugh was dead and Obama laughs at the joke!"

1. The media had already made thousands of GWB / WMD jokes

2. GWB was making fun of himself

3. While tasteless it wasn't a 9-11joke

4. The media and libs on this board, ripped him a new one for making that joke

Sykes' joke about Limbaugh wasn't funny. It was dumb and tasteless.

Really, the left needs to stop talking about him. And the last thing they should be doing is giving him an excuse to play the victim.

Isnt stuff like this THE ENTIRE POINT of the WH correspondents dinner?

If anyone should be offended it should be the other comedians. Because shes not that funny.

Most of the time, the jokes at this event are aimed towards the party in power...Sykes got her share of them in on the dems, though.

I thought Sykes was pretty damn funny, minus the over-the-line moments others have already mentioned. But hell, the rest had me rollin' lol

Point taken, however my point is this. The president should know better to laugh and have more common sense. if it were wrong to aim it at the president than it's the same for a citizen, he is after all just one of us in charge.

No, just sad that our pres has no common sense to not laugh at jokes telling of someons death!!

Holy crap, you are gonna nail us for plural use of the word joke?? And you say we are anal and over the top!!! you're right it was one joke. However doesn't change the fact that the ones not dealing with Rush were tasteless and he shouldn't have laughed.

Gee whiz, if only you and the other right-wingers showed such concern in the past for tasteless jokes. I cannot even take this question seriously, after all the stuff we've heard directed towards the President, even before he was elected.

AS usual you are missing the whole point, but that's not surprising. I might point out that even when OUR guy was in, some of the jokes were directed at them and were quite insulting and demeaning for the president. Colbert being the most recent!

Second, a personal joke told online or between friends is very different than having a comic tell a few rather tasteless jokes about other people and having the pres of the USA laugh at them giving them credibility. At best he could have just smiled. It was tuely appearant that he thought they were funny and he laughed at them.

Well, I didn't get my wish that Limbaugh would die in a fire today.

Oh well, there's always tomorrow.

~Bang

Make it happen in a cartoon. You could kill him a thousand ways, but he never dies. He just downs another bottle of oxy and keeps on truckin.

OMG so tasteless. How dare you say something mean about that saint Rush Limbaugh... and joking about it no less! Have you no shame?! Besides it would be much more fitting if he got killed during a no knock police raid looking for illegal drugs.

I wonder if there's anybody in this thread who has never wished someone to drop dead or said they hate someone? I wonder if there's anyone on this board who ever said those words, but didn't mean them? I wonder if there's anybody on this board who ever said **** you to someone but didn't actually want to have intercourse with them at that moment? Or said, "Go to Hell!" to a parent who even in that moment they didn't wish them doomed to eternal torment and grief.

There isn't a person on this board who thinks that Sykes meant that joke literally or that she was truly wishing Limbaugh to die, is there?
