Was Alex in Clockwork Orange really a villain? Gunnery Sergeant Hartman in Full Metal Jacket? Col. Kurtz.? They're complex characters. He became more and more of a ***** as the series wore on and all the most evil things done by the Empire were orchestrated by his superiors.
