Commander PK
Would you be scared to drive across this bridge? The Millau viaduct is part of the new E11 expressway connecting Paris and Barcelona and featuresthe highest bridge piers ever constructed. The tallest is 240 meters (787 feet) high and the over all height will be an impressive 336 meters (1102 feet), making this the highest bridge in the world. :yikes: I thought the Bay Bridge was something. :paranoid:

Ellis
I would feel safer on this bridge than most bridges. A curved bridge is much safer and stronger.

HOF44
Link to Cost Construction of the bridge was a joint Franco-British project with help from companies in other European countries. Financing for the 394 million Euro (U.S. $524) project was provided by the French construction firm Eiffage.

Corcaigh
It's been open nearly three years (December '-04). I crossed it earlier this year on vacation. I'm surprised no-one has asked yet but it took less than a month from opening for the first jumper

TorresA
I saw a show on discovery about this bridge... pretty amazing. They basically built the support columns up, then they built a portion of deck on one side. The then pushed the deck over to the first column. They then added more deck to the end, pushed it over to the 2nd column, and so on and so on until they had about 3/4 of the deck of the bridge they were sliding over the whole valley. PCS
Ummm. Whoa. I would cross it, but being that my heart rate tripled just looking at the thing, I can say I would be just a tad anxious.
Predicto
Well, SF does suck a lot more than the Suuth of France. LOL. Good one! Actually, most of the jumpers are out of town visitors, in despair after realizing that they don't get to live in San Francisco and have to return to Virginia on the next flight. The 12th Commandment
I'd cross it. I don't think I'd look over the edge though. That is absolutely beautiful.
turbodiesel#44
I've driven that bridge. It's not so bad when you are on it. I felt safer than when at a typical intersection in suburban Rome.
Pete
Pretty wild. I would drive over it before I would ride the rails in the US.
