  1. I'm starting to think more and more that Matt Ryan may be the guy... I don't in any way have any "connections", just putting two and two together from listening to RR's interviews and public statements... I don't think there's a prayer of getting any of Rogers, Russ, or D Watson. And I don't think they'll pay in draft assets what it would cost to get Carr.
  2. I wouldn't have signed ANYONE. They should have drafted a QB (whoever they liked or could have gone up to get) and started the clock on grooming him to be the man. Admitting that they were going to pretty much suck (which they did ANYWAY)! They have essentially wasted a full season and are not any closer (in fact, probably further away) from addressing the single most important problem facing the franchise. Honest question: Do you really believe this team would have been any better than 7-10 with a full year of Fitzpatrick? I don't. So, again, to answer your question, I wouldn't have signed any aging vet. I would have taken my lumps and been on Year 2 of my franchise QB search. Instead they badly reached in the draft for a MLB who can't freakin' play MLB. Is that what you'd have done?
  3. They SHOULD have traded up to get Mac or Fields. If, as you say, they only got Fitz as a “one-year stopgap” (though that has not ever been said officially by Rivera or anyone else), then failing to draft a QB last year is an even worse decision in retrospect. Because even if Fitz had played all year, they’d still be at ground zero absolutely no closer to solving the QB problem.
  4. Just the latest in a LONG line of awful personnel decisions to bring in way-past-their-prime aging vet quarterbacks (see McNabb, Donovan; Brunell, Mark; Smith, Alex). He played a grand total of 15 offensive snaps for his $10 million dollars... then again, **** it, it's not my money... at least this time we didn't also give up substantial draft picks in the process...
  5. Can someone who knows more about this stuff than I do please explain what "reserve/futures" contracts actually mean? Are they simply holding spots for guys to come to OTA's and to training camp in July? Do teams routinely use these kinds of contracts to get players that actually end up on the final 53-man roster?
  6. A solid QB1 (however we get it) and a solid MLB would very quickly raise the floor and ceiling... just not confident in the FO's ability to evaluate and acquire said assets...
  7. Huh? We played Lions at FedEx in 2019... the infamous "Haskins missing the final kneel-down because he was taking selfies with the fans" game. 🙄
  8. Then why watch, or even comment on this thread? It’s clear that this thread is here to help determine what has to happen for the WFT to make the playoffs. If you don’t think there’s any way of that happening, then there are you plenty of other threads where you can complain about how awful this franchise is. But not this one…
  9. So you’d be fine sticking with our possible 12-17th pick and drafting another project LBer like J Davis? Really?
  10. Celebrating another sub-.500 possible playoff appearance is exactly what’s wrong with this sh—ty franchise.
  11. Reports of the Skins’ playoff chances are greatly exaggerated.
  12. That site is not correct, check it again in an hour or so and it will correctly show Rams 5th, WFT 6th, and SF 7th. And if it doesn’t, it is clearly wrong.
  13. They didn’t. Before our game was over, I guess technically they were ahead for a few hours, as 6-7 is considered slightly better than 5-6. But now that we are 6-6, we not only kept our spot but actually moved up to 6th with the Niners loss.
  14. Just gonna leave this one here… 😎
  15. I'm ecstatic that there is even a legitimate reason to have this thread considering where things stood just 17 days ago...
  16. Solid post. Well stated, and I agree 100%. Still want to draft a QB this offseason (and EVERY offseason until we hit on one), but we could (and have) certainly done worse than what Heinicke has given us so far this season.
  17. The truly sad thing about this thread is that it was started after the Chargers game, a game which we by most measures should not have even been competitive in, but in all actuality had a decent shot to win. Now, two games later, that game is starting to look like it may be the highlight of the whole damn season... This ish is getting old. I just turned 50 this year and I'm about to the point of no longer giving a damn. It has probably taken me longer to get to that point than most people, but yesterday, for the first time in like forever, I just spent the day shopping, having lunch, and running errands with the wife instead of parking my ass on the couch just to be disappointed yet again. Even the wife was shocked. I told her that it just isn't worth it anymore. Hope I have something positive to come back to later this season or next, but I'm certainly not hopeful. Sigh.....
  18. Davis made a very good play on the second quarter drive that ended in a NYG field goal, when Shepherd made the crossing catch on 3rd and 8 and Davis was in the right place to make the tackle 2 yards short of the sticks to save a TD. SOOOO many years we've watched our crap LB's consistently screw up that play and give up the 7 there, was good to see the rook step up.
  19. Does anyone know if you can stream the game on a mobile device (for free) on the NFL app? Seems to indicate yes but I can't find any source that can definitely say that.
  20. Bingo. Not going to #8 to get Fields is going to haunt us for, oh I dunno, at least a decade and a half.
  21. Too numb to even be upset or frustrated at this point...
