  1. I don’t think anyone on this board loved the Phil pick. It was a reach first of all and was forced because they screwed up their planning for depth. Truth be told, I wanted Brisker or a LB as that was a LB heavy draft (imagine a 2nd year Troy Andersen running w Jamin - would’ve been the most athletic LB duo in the league) If we were to redraft, I bet many here would have taken Parham, Lucas or Fortner
  2. Bradfield has a very different profile than the guys they have taken in the past who are more COFs with power. Think of Bradfield as potentially Juan Pierre with more power. The guy has elite 80 speed and is a beast on the basepaths. Absolute floor to me is as a 4th outfielder. If he can improve his hitting technique a bit, he is the Mullins replacement in a couple years. Very interesting that generally Elias focused on center fielder types and college relief arms in this draft. While some of these arms have much to work on, others like Sharkey could move quickly
  3. The Bulls do feel like this team the past few years. Apparently Lavine and Derozan don’t get along and Lonzo’s career appears to be over You are probably right about the Magic being better. Bridges does appear to be coming back for the Hornets and they will have Lamelo and Miller
  4. I don’t know why anyone thinks adding Kuz back removes them from the running for a top 3 pick. When you look at the rest of the Eastern conference, outside of the Magic, this may still be the worst roster. I think we learned the past couple years that Kuz is a great locker room guy (if you were not Dinwiddie lol), a hard worker and an easy guy to root for. It was also obvious he wanted to be here and he loves DC. With the 4th year, he is not a guy who will be easy to move this trade deadline but he will be movable next offseason or the offseason after if his game does not fall off. Now why did they retain Kuz instead of KP? It is because the latter is a ticking time bomb when it comes to injuries. Lest we forget that the Mavs threw in a second for us to take on KP for Dinwiddie and Bertans
  5. Hoffman is the one of the few in the local media to ask the tough questions during an interview. I give him a lot of credit for having a pair unlike Sheehan who sucks up to folks he interviews even when he bashes them outside of an interview. Hoffman destroyed Tommy Sheppard, the Wizards’ GM at the time, by asking him straightforward questions a few months ago
  6. Hoffman is a gem and he is the sharpest radio host personality type we have in this market. The only one who compares at that level is Galdi and I feel Galdi lacks the football and scheme intelligence Hoffman has
  7. When Dawkins was on Sheehan's show this morning, he kept on stressing Bilal's character traits as well. They think he is a worker
  8. For a contender, Jones holds more value than any of the Magic guys they trade. He has the rep of being the best backup PG in the league and he is a very efficient player.
  9. What makes you think they are going to pull off 30 wins? There is no one on this team, as it stands, who has been a consistent NBA starter outside of old man Gallo. I could’ve seen 30 wins if they kept CP3 and Porzingis but doubt it happens now
  10. They should focus on trading Jones. He is not going to resign here and his current salary is relatively cheap. Kind of surprising to me they couldn’t finagle something out of the Lakers or Clippers for him predraft. Of the guys on the roster, he brings in max value in my opinion DA seemed to imply they were hoping for Anthony Black but the Magic messed that up for them, taking him at #6. At that point, it became obvious who they should take given Whitmore’s medicals. I totally buy that Indy was getting interest in the pick from other teams for Bilal - easy call for Indy to make the first call to us given they must have really wanted Walker and trading down 1 pick guaranteed they could still get him
  11. They probably move one of Morris, Wright and Jones soon. I hope they don’t sell low on Jones. He’s a guy they should get a first for, whether it is now or the deadline
  12. The good news is that Clips gave their pick and are indicating a need for a guard given the interest in Brogdon before they got worried about his medicals. The rumor is they cooled off on CP3 once they got wind that Westbrook was less likely to resign for the minimum if CP3 came aboard. Jones is a perfect guy to send to the Clips for Morris or Covington and the 30th pick. Jones is clearly a starting level PG but can still come off the bench and allow Russ to stay and start
  13. They should be able to flip Jones to a team like the Clippers. On that contract, he is easily worth a low first. As a contender, under the new CBA, that contract to value is exactly what you need
  14. KP has major injury risk. Gotta move him while he is a hot asset. Remember that we got him for nothing and the Mavs even threw in a 2nd round pick to move him.
  15. Yep. I would totally do that trade. I think Kuminga could blow up here. Kuminga can put up huge numbers here as the guy. No issues giving him an extension if he is what we think he can be. I would think about KP for Poole, Kuminga, one of Baldwin Jr or Moody and the #19 pick. They really could use a big center with size and KP would thrive there
  16. I think we should feel really lucky that Mat Ishbia was not the guy to buy this team. His first several months with the Suns feels like Dan Snyder circa 1999/2000 where the "future is now" and there is no regard for roster construction. The guy is also surrounding himself with people like Isiah Thomas, one of the worst GMs in NBA history, as advisors.
  17. He doesn't have the ceiling Coulibaly does but I would say Black has an all star ceiling with a much higher floor. It's unfair to compare him to Deni and Troy - he's a much better prospect than either of those two and I see him as a more athletic Giddey. At #8, he feels like a good mix of BBIQ, character and upside. Saying drafting him as a single is way off..it's not a swing for the fences pick either but I feel like it is a "let's hit a double or triple" type of pick.
  18. If they wanted to get rid of Davis as badly as you indicate, couldn't they have dumped him in the Beal trade? You have no idea where Dawkins rated him either. The Thompson twins are not projected to fall to #8. The guy who is projected to go to the Wiz most consistently in mocks is Anthony Black who is a PG. If they do take a SG, you can always have JD come off the bench. Take the GLeague stuff out of it. He did have 3 good games in his final 8 so he showed some signs of life. I am caveating that those games were like the equivalent of the Dallas game for the football team last year so I take them with a grain of salt but I can't take away the games he did have. I don't think Kispert really blocks JD. Kispert should be the starting SF and Deni, if they keep him, should play PF given his lack of shooting ability
  19. Not to provide excuses for Davis but he was supposedly dealing with a lot of injuries the first half of the season and he was dealing with a newborn. Look at his pre All Star game and post All Star game splits in the GLeague. He was absolutely terrible in the first half and, in the second half, he averaged 18 ppg on 49/45/75. If you try to move him now, you are getting nothing of note back from him. There is no harm giving him a lot of minutes in year 2. Either he improves and shows he is an NBA caliber player or he sucks and helps with the tank. The key for him is to show more consistency with his jump shot - to your point, because he is a below average athlete, you can't depend on him getting his points attacking the rim. He is going to have to develop a solid three point shot or at least a mid range game. I do think his defense is NBA caliber and can potentially be above average. He needs to show more on offense though They could've moved Herro for at least a couple first rounders now. If they let him serve as the primary piece here and chuck his way to 25 ppg+ a game with decent efficiency, perhaps they could've gotten more. 120M over 4 years is not bad value for him now and could be great value if he could prove he has another gear to his game. I've heard that Monty Williams absolutely loves Shamet. If they can get #31 (the first pick of the second round) for him, that is good value
  20. They desperately need a cheap big man who they think could be productive. They have nothing behind Looney
  21. Hell no. Don't need a center even if we trade Porzingis and nothing special about Lively. If Black is gone, there is going to be someone projected in the top 7 who falls to us at 8
  22. Yup. This franchise has not signed a non top 3 pick to a second contract since god knows when. That is absolutely pathetic. It all starts with talent acquisition personnel. I did see a nugget that they are hiring a new analytics guy so it looks like they are building out the mid level of the org as well.
  23. Ehh...I'd give JD this year to see what he has. I don't think the guy is a future star or anything like that given his lack of athleticism but I think he could become a productive NBA player because he is a guy with high end work ethic. Remember he went from not doing much as a freshman to the conference POY as a sophomore in a great conference. I would look at trading Deni. There is no point giving a second contract to him.
  24. Todd is absolute trash and he is not an NBA player. That was another Tommy special giving that guy 4 guaranteed years. It is a positive we get his salary, albeit small, off the books.
