  1. I am looking fwd to seeing the adaptation of Caste. It is phenomenal non fiction book, but I have trouble seeing it as a narrative. Still, initial reactions say the movie is very compelling. Having read the book, if it touches on half of it, I understand why people were moved to tears by it. On other hand, there are only so many fictional plot lines. How many versions of downfall, perseverance, hardship and ultimate success can be written? There are only so many plot arcs. We simply change scenes and characters.
  2. As we go against a team that seems better and maybe faster than us, I find myself reliving thoughts from my old soccer team , as i wondered, "ok, you may run your 40 time faster than me, but are you faster sliding in the mud than I am?"I think after 2 days of steady and at times heavy rain, I predict the commanders win an ugly mud bowl 24-21
  3. The movie I want to see is Caste. The Book was incredible, and the early reviews on this movie make it sound powerful. It was a book from which I learned a lot.
  4. This will be a tough sell, especially around Christmas.
  5. I keep waiting for the demo to make an issue of this. Look at the bottom of this list: https://www.census.gov/library/visualizations/interactive/percentage-without-health-insurance-coverage-by-state-2021-2022.html?utm_campaign=20230914msacos1ccstors&utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery
  6. Do we have an injury report? Do they do follow ups for players who took head shots the later or the next day?
  7. I think it changed more than just our foreign policy. Talking with somebody from Australia, they made it pretty clear it changed the world's foreign policy. One doesn't just pull on Superman's cape without him bringing the rest of the justice league with him into the fight. That was back when what we said was still instantly believed by many of our allies who had our back knowing we would always have theirs. I still remember that day trying to get everybody out of the government building where I worked and the lines at the red cross as people tried to do the only thing they could in the near term to help. I remember how everyone actually acted like we were one society for a moment instead of red versus blue or rich versus poor. It sucks that it takes tragedy to do that to us, but for a moment we all got to feel a part of one nation under God. That said, their were some Muslims treated poorly who might have a different take on it, but my Muslim friends all went out of their way to show they were insulted and hurt too.
  8. I admit I have a fear of needing a catheter. With my MS, it is still a possibility. Uncomfortable at a guy bar? Funny truth is I have been hit on by more men than women in my life. Granted, I was a waiter in Rehoboth for a couple summers and had friends in dupont circle after college. People should just take the compliments and move on so long as nit aggressive. How long have women had to deal with interest from people they weren't interested in romantically? As for bandana hammocks, I have never rocked one, mostly because I don't think anyone wants to see that much hair. I am yeti.
  9. My favorite trip ever was to Placencia Belize. We stayed at Singing Sands. Granted it was 2 decades ago. I loved the people there and the way everyone staying there could talk about we did as we ate great food at the long table. My all time favorite memory of the trip was on a horribly hot day while we were hiking to some natural water slides. It started pouring after we had walked about a half hour in, and we wouldn't be able to do the slides in the rain(unsafe). The other couple with us looked at the guide and each other. Then the guy laughs and lays down in a mud puddle and starts making mud angels. It taught me situations aren't what makes things fun. It's what we bring to the situation that makes it fun and allows us to enjoy them. That lesson alone makes the trip worth every penny, but i have so many other great memories from the trip. Fun tip, 1 U.S. dollar =2 Belize dollars. It helped keep trip affordable.
  10. What if JKC had just left his team to his son? There wouldn't have been a huge vacuum causing us to be unable to offer Trent Green a contract. The result is we would have had a consistent QB for the next 8 years. Can you imagine 9 years with a pro-bowl level QB? He is on the KC circle of fame around their stadium. How much better would we have been with him than the QB's we had in that time. I mean imagine a history with no Tony Banks, Patrick Ramsey, Shane Matthews (7) , Danny Wuerffel, Jeff George. I mean Brad Johnson is a closer trade, but in every other year of his career, Trent Green was better than what we had. Oh, and there would be no Snyder history....
  11. oops, I missed the video. Thanks China. I wonder how they managed to give the car enough structural strength to deal with the weight. That may be as impressive as them driving the bull.
  12. I would be surprised if the wheels/suspension could handle that kind of weight which is why I question if the photo is real.. I bet the car would be terrible to drive. I can only imagine the wear on the breaks trying to stop that kind of momentum.
  13. I am 6'3", and before covid I was 240. Trump wishes he was in that kind of shape. Now we are to believe he is only 10 lbs heavier than me? Lol
  14. Wouldn't it make sense for whoever wants to come after Putin to shoot down that plane? We all assume whoever succeeds Putin will be less ice cold, but why? Let's assume for a minute you are second in line to Putin. Here come a mercenary leader showing success in Ukraine when most other Russian troops are struggling big time. Then Prygozhyn leads what at first looks like a coup with some popular support. Putin strikes a deal, and the coup dissolves. Now, who stands to lose most if Putin steps down or dies? Is it Prygozhyn or whoever else would have stepped into Putin's shoes? Putin is not young. I think it may be a mistake to assume Putin is responcible. Think of all the Russian generals who have had little success in Ukraine made to look bad with Wagner group's success. Whether they want to succeed Putin or not, they look worse and may want revenge/to remove the face of the group making them look bad.
  15. I think the 239 was a case of dyslexia. I am going with 329, but "he is exercising and fitter than ever. He should be down to 310 by the election."
  16. Spinach, garlic and pesto tortilla made into a wrap with roast beef, spring mix and spinach leaves, shredded cheddar, ranch sauce with some spicy BBQ sauce It is delicious.
  17. Is It Cake? is awesome for seeing how realistic these bakers can make their cakes look. It's entertaining to watch them put all the effort into making it and then placing it amongst real items for people to try and guess which is cake. It should be easy to tell right? Not so much... I am also really enjoying Lioness, but I wish I had waited until the season was over to start watching it, Now I have to wait for a weekly show. I am spoiled and don't want to wait.
  18. At least the U.S. went out finally playing well. If they had played like this in the last round, we wouldn't have been playing Sweden. Still, that is a game to keep their heads up. Missing the frame on a pk is unacceptable. I dont understand how players at the highest level fail at that.Next time...
  19. stroke? That was awkward looking. I hope he is ok too. I don't like his politics, but I still hope he is ok.
  20. My something cool post isn't on a level with those. My some thing cool was just deciding to apply for Survivor. Do you ever buy a lottery ticket and think you don't have a chance? Well, that is probably about the same chance I have of getting on Survivor. I mean I am a 47 year old with a 17 year history of MS. I have 4 medically fragile kids, and I just don't want them to think they have no chance of pursuing their dreams. Heck, my blind 11 year old wants to drive...and maybe some day she will. The point is, it was fun to take the chance, make the video, and show the kids it's OK to take a probably silly chance to live a dream. So when I told a friend I wish I was on the show, she asked why I haven't applied. I think I'd make a heck of a back story for them with a long MS history, still athletic, still working as a project manager, having written for more than a decade what it is like living with MS and raising medically fragile children. I listened to the podcast about the making of the show, and I have a lot of the traits they are looking for, but it is still likely a 1 in a million shot to even get a call back. I just want my kids to know it's worth it to make the effort on the long shots if it is what you really want. I'm also one for leading/parenting by example when possible. Like I said, I will probably never get a call back, but if I do I will have a heck of a follow-up post...in the mean time I have a fun fantasy dream and memories of making a video with my kids giving me input and laughs.
  21. I so wanted the "unarmed windu" to have his head photo shopped onto the Black Knight from Holy Grail.
  22. Is the anticipated sale of the Commanders going to impact the board? If so, can we post an update on it in the Stadium or Tailgate? Thanks, Geof (gbear)
