  2. Think about it, 3 of RR's top picks on defense will be in dogfights for playing time this year with 2 of them possibly on the roster bubble (Mathis, Forbes). Not to mention Ron's prize pick, Chase Young is already gone as is Sweat. What a testament to his time in DC.
  3. People said the same stuff about Darnold and Trubisky. They still sucked. And our defense was hilariously atrocious that day, but ok...Fields looked good. So what? Even ****ty QBs sometimes have great games. Overall if you watch him enough you'll see just how bad Fields really is as an actual QB (very good running back though).
  4. RFK Jr. Event Hosted by MAGA Group With Jan. 6 Ties Last Saturday, independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. appeared at an event that felt entirely on-brand for the anti-vaccine champion: a so-called “medical freedom conference” near Buffalo, New York. But the group that hosted Kennedy isn’t just skeptical of vaccines. It’s also skeptical of the fact that Joe Biden won the 2020 election. That group, Constitutional Coalition of New York State, has founders who not only have ties to Donald Trump but are also connected to the stop-the-steal movement through their activist network, which includes groups that had a presence at the Capitol on Jan. 6. 5. I think there’s a non-zero chance that Peters, coming from SF, along with Kingsbury think there is a viable way to account for a mediocre at best OL via scheme: Daniels releasing the ball quickly (and using RB’s and TE’s heavily) can take a lot of the pressure off of himself. We’ve seen it before—Cousins coming in when the OL looked terrible in 2013, Brissett last year.
  6. Over 100 far-right militias are coordinating on Facebook “Join Your Local Militia or III% Patriot Group,” a post urged the more than 650 members of a Facebook group called the Free American Army. Accompanied by the logo for the Three Percenters militia network and an image of a man in tactical gear holding a long rifle, the post continues: “Now more than ever. Support the American militia page.” Other content and messaging in the group is similar. And despite the fact that Facebook bans paramilitary organizing and deemed the Three Percenters an “armed militia group" on its 2021 Dangerous Individuals and Organizations List, the post and group remained up until WIRED contacted Meta for comment about its existence. Free American Army is just one of around 200 similar Facebook groups and profiles, most of which are still live, that anti-government and far-right extremists are using to coordinate local militia activity around the country. 7. TikTok is allowing users to spread manipulated videos of Biden, despite the platform's policies Deceptively altered videos of President Joe Biden with audio added to depict him receiving profanity-filled jeers are spreading on TikTok without any labeling or disclosure, seemingly violating the platform’s policies. TikTok has a history of falling short when it comes to moderating AI-generated or deceptively altered content. According to TikTok’s Community Guidelines, “synthetic or manipulated media that shows realistic scenes must be clearly disclosed” by displaying “a sticker or caption, such as ‘synthetic’, ‘fake’, ‘not real’, or ‘altered.’” The policy goes on to specify that “material that has been edited, spliced, or combined (such as video and audio) in a way that may mislead a person about real-world events” is not allowed. TikTok has a history of failing to enforce this policy and could have allowed users to profit from content violating it. Deepfake videos promoting bitcoin scams, sketchy health products, and AI-generated conspiracy theories have proliferated on the platform, along with other deceptively edited videos of politicians. In some instances, users may have profited from TikTok’s Creator Rewards program (formerly the Creativity Program), which is designed to pay creators for content over 60 seconds long that they post on the platform. Media Matters has now found multiple videos on TikTok that depict Biden with altered audio and do not have any labels or disclosure about the alteration. (These videos are less than 60 seconds long, so they appear to not be eligible for the rewards program.) On April 29, Snopes identified a video of Biden’s April 17 visit to a Pittsburgh-area Sheetz convenience store, which was altered to include profanity-filled jeers and other heckling and was shared on social media. The inserted audio reportedly originated from a video taken by a protester heckling Biden’s motorcade during his 2023 visit to Maui. Click on the link for the full article
  8. Missouri Nukes Its ‘Tell Us If You’ve Seen A Trans’ Reporting Form After It’s Swarmed With ‘Bee Movie’ Scripts Who doesn’t love the wisdom of the crowds? Hey, it’s a great thing if you’re seeking comment from the oft-disrespected “stakeholders” known as the people who pay your salaries. Comment periods for proposed regulation ensures a healthy mix of intelligent commentary and unhinged partisanship. You know, like pretty much any congressional hearing. On the other hand, opening up your thing for public comment via the internet tends to ensure those with an agenda will try to take control of the thing. Ask pretty much any corporate entity that saw millions of internet users and still decided the best way to take the pulse of the connected was to trot out a perfunctory CAPTCHA and crowdsurf their way into increased profitability. Behold the wreckage: The PepsiCo crowdsourcing that suggested the next Mountain Dew product should align itself with one of dozens of porn fetishes (“Gushing Granny”) or things possibly even less tasteful (“MTN JEW,” “Methamphetagreen”). Maybe the brains in the Missouri capital thought the same internet that voted to send Taylor Swift to perform a concert at a school for the deaf and rapper Pitbull to a remote Alaskan Walmart to plug his latest album would take this complaint box for bigots seriously and not do turn its sanctimonious suggestion box into another toy for trolls. I’m sure they’ve learned something from this. Unfortunately, the lesson learned won’t be “acceptance” or “don’t write laws specifically to make people you don’t like miserable.” What they will learn is that you just can’t leave a complaint box open on the internet, as Morgan Sung reports for TechCrunch: Click on the link for the full story
  9. 2) QB Jayden Daniels 36) DT Jer'Zhaun Newton - would be BPA for me easily 50) CB Renardo Green 53) OT Blake Fisher 67) LB Junior Colson 100) RB Jaylen Wright 139) Edge Mohamed Kamara 161) S Kitan Oladapo 222) TE Devin Culp
  10. He was one of those picks where Ron thought he was smarter than everyone else, same with Forbes. When we drafted both of them, both times I thought to myself, what the heck was Ron thinking. He probably makes the roster, but I don’t expect much out of him, and wouldn’t mind if he gets cut. Hopefully for us, he will have a pretty good year, and shows great improvement and gets extended, or signs a decent enough deal next year elsewhere that he qualifies us for a comp pick.
  11. Got zero angst about this recent draft. The previous draft I had plenty of woulda shoulda stuff.
  12. Today
  13. I don’t think it’s ever to soon to acquire a top end talent at a skill position, especially if you have the cap space to do so, which we do. Now the problem lies, at least in my opinion is the draft compensation to get him here. A 1st or a 2nd? I’d say no, but for a 3rd? That at least gets him here, and gives you the ability to extend him before he hits FA and drives up the price even more. If we were to add him, our WR core would be a force, didn’t we have Moss, Garçon, and Djax at one point? Yes the o line doesn’t look like a finished product by any means, but by adding a great receiver, that pretty much would cement us having enough playmakers to potentially make a run at a division title this year, especially if the defense is better, which I feel is ok to assume that it will be, based on the player and coaching upgrades we’ve brought in. Unless you’ve got Mahomes or Josh Allen, you are going to need top end talent all over the field if you plan on seriously competing. Aiyuk is a top end talent, and is the type of player that gives teams an edge in close games.
  14. Cuban mercenaries eliminate Russian regiment commander in Donetsk region Cuban mercenaries fighting in the Pokrovsk sector of the Donetsk region eliminated their commander of the 428th motorized rifle regiment for humiliating treatment, reports the ATESH partisan movement. The movement's agent from the headquarters of the "Center" troop group of the Russian Armed Forces noted that the reason for the "execution" was regular humiliation, beatings and "confiscation" of wages from guest workers from Latin America. The direct perpetrators of the "execution" have already been transferred to the Rostov region of the Russian Federation. The regiment's command appealed to the General Staff to replace the foreign mercenaries with Russian soldiers. Click on the link for the full article
  15. Posting this here because “the polls” had the conservative challenger within 6-8% points only a couple weeks ago.
  16. Historically in the nfl there's been a pretty consistent spectrum from elite runners who don't throw at an elite level to elite passers who can't run worth a damn. we haven't yet gotten a quarterback who can run like lamar jackson and throw like patrick mahomes but I'm sure hoping we drafted him this year, if that guy ever comes along he'll change the league like Michael jordan. If jayden can develop into a 4 thousand yard a year passer with 35 touchdowns and 15 interceptions and only burn defenses with his legs occasionally he'll be our first franchise quarterback in 60 years and we'll be competing for superbowls. If he keeps breaking the pocket and running for a hundred yards a game because He can't beat defenses with his arm he'll either be out injured or traded to steelers 3 years from now for a 6th round pick.
  17. I like Fields. He put on a clinic against us last year on prime time. I know we had a bad defense, but he made it look easy. He will eventually get a chance to start again someday, somewhere. There is just to much talent for him to not get another opportunity. He might even get a shot this year if Rus doesn’t play well. But if he doesn’t learn to process the field better, he won’t succeed.
  18. That's what I would have explored too. It seems like we could have fleeced the Patriots - we know they've been enamored with Maye from the beginning.
  19. We hear this about pretty much every single bust QB. "Oh he can probably be good in a different setting", etc. It basically never happens. How many bust 1st round QBs have gone on to other teams and suddenly become good? They pretty much all either become permanent mediocre backups or end up completely out of the league shortly. If you watch Fields play, outside of his running and a few splash play throws, he sucks. He's just a bad QB. Terrible and slow at getting through progressions, panics often if his first read isn't open, he has little to no pocket presence or feel for pressure, he can't seem to read defenses pre or post snap and is very often fooled by any sort of disguised coverage, his footwork and mechanics suck (we know those are things that QBs can improve, but his hasn't in 3 years so far), he sucks at throwing off platform, he's incredibly hesitant to make tight window 2nd level throws down the middle so he usually relies just on boundary throws...which makes it so much easier for NFL defenses to defend. He's. Just. Bad. He's basically a running back who can occasionally complete a pass. If that's really what the Steelers want...good luck with that. My guess is they just figured they might as well grab him for super cheap and see what happens. Best case is he becomes a mediocre backup who can at least come in if need be and run to mix it up (or be a gadget player), worst case is he just continues to suck and they let him go and they lose little.
