It's getting to be that time of year ... this thread tends to be quite popular ...

Who are some sleepers this year? Who is overrated?

I'm going to say that Cousins and Matt Jones are underrated and cheap options who could pay dividends. It's early, but Jones is being drafted in the 5th/6th round range, and could be valuable.

I'm hoping Cousins is underrated but have suspicions by the time I draft will be going a lot higher than I hoped he would. My big leagues have the super flex in which 2 QBs can start and I am hoping Cousins can slip to the 6th or 7th round but it is likely he'll go in round 4 or 5 in that format.

Interesting that a few lists I saw ranking the top players start with 4 WR ... Brown, Hopkins, Julio and OBJ. First RB is Bell at #5. Definitely speaks to the changing game ... But kind of bizarre how fast that happened. Usually RBs take up at least 3-4 of the top 5 slots.

It used to be debated whether to even stray from RB-RB ... Now I feel the debate is more about whether to draft an RB at all until round 3 haha

Well a lot of what is driving that is the scoring formats. Point Per Reception(PPR) has become the predominant scoring format so a prolific wide receivers value has drastically increased.

I've been going wr heavy-qb late while drafting potential at rb the last couple years and it has helped me do very well (1st 2nd 1st the last two years).

Having said that, the teams in my league have caught onto that and will be employing the same strategy.

I think this year I'll be going wr/rb in the first two rounds with TE/qb in the mid rounds.

But it all depends on how the draft goes.

I need to pick 2 keepers from:

- Todd Gurley, $20

- David Johnson, $20

- Le'Veon Bell, $45

$220 cap, 16 roster spots, half point PPR. Every list I see has the RBs ranked Bell/Gurley/Johnson in any order in the Top 3. I think common sense says keep the consensus RB2 and RB3 for $40 combined then throw back Bell and Try to snag him for $60-65 and call it a night. Basically spend about $105-110 to lock up the consensus 1,2 and 3 RBs. Thoughts?

I'm also targeting Jordy Nelson, Kelvin Benjamin, Jordan Matthews and Doug Baldwin ... Along with Kevin White, Corey Coleman as cheaper options.

My sleeper WR this season is Chris Hogan. Think he can be had very cheap and very late but i love his chances with Brady.

Hogan's a good guy, I lived next door to him in the dorms at Penn State. Crazy that he only played one season of college football. Definitely agree with him as a sleeper in NE.

Where are you drafting jordan reed this year?

He is tough to project and I will be targeting him, but I don't want to use a really early pick on him though he could be worth it.

I'd go 3rd round in almost any format. Given the Brady suspension, may even compete for #1 TE. I am way off Gronk with suspension, mostly because is is traditionally 1st rounder. No way am I going 1st round on Gronk with Brady out

Well, First money draft of the year. Use this early cheaper one as a rehearsal for my bigger leagues. $50 Superflex, PPR can start 1 QB, 1 RB, 3 WRs, 1 TE, D, K, Flex 1 RB/WR/TE, and Superflex 1 QB/RB.

Bottom line can start 2 QBs in this league so they went earlier. Had Pick #6

1.6 - Julius Jones WR

2.7 - E Elliot RB

3.6 - A Jeffrey WR

4.7 - B Marshall WR

5.6 - J Reed TE

6.6 - Dion Lewis RB

7.7 - J Cutler QB

8.7 - S Bradford QB

9.6 - RG III QB

10.7 - T Austin WR

11.6 - A. Gates TE

12.7 - B Gabbert QB

13.6 - M Sanu WR

14.7 - Chris Johnson RB

15.6 - Kendall Wright WR

16.7 - NE Pats

17.6 - J Tucker K

18,7 - Devin Funchess WR

Thoughts?

I joined a two QB league a few years ago. In my experience you dont win these leagues unless you have two above average QBs.

In a regular league i would say nice draft. But in a 2 QB league think you should have gone QB way earlier IMO. My first two picks would have been QB unless they very good ones were gone. Not knowing the draft i would think you would have been able to get two top 10 QBs in the first two rounds.

Agreed. In those leagues it's much harder to get by on two average qbs. It requires big time play from every other position week in and out. In these leagues having two big time QBs will carry the team on a down week. But you'll find the rest of your team constantly having to make up for below average numbers in two roster slots.

Some really interesting options with Leveon Bell and Josh Gordon. I used this logic last year drafting Todd Gurley ... And targeting Todd Gurley ... Fantasy is about games 12-16 not 1-4 and if you're confident in your abilities to draft, you target those two.

I'm hoping Bell goes from $65 in auctions to $45-50 ... That $15 savings would allow me to spread money elsewhere. Also, Josh Gordon could be worth the risk for $4-6 or even $10 if he stays clean and comes back strong. Even as a WR3 / flex that's a solid investment.
