HOW IT WORKS:

- Signings - When we start signing players, I will update the OP with a source (a link, tweet, columnist, insider, etc) as well as the details of the contract (monies and length)

Just like last year and the previous years, this thread will only be as successful as everyone contributing. Last year, a lot of the hard hitters on here made this some of the most fun I've ever had on this board and it was great. Without question we had the top Redskins database on the internet and a lot of folks were referencing it in the media.

If you post anything as far as signings or rumors, please post a source (a link, tweet, columnist, insider, etc). I will type the post number next to the signing in the OP so that you can check reactions (as this worked out well last year).

Let me know if you guys have any suggestions to make this a better thread this season.

Hitman21ST posted this in the thread (espn FA tracker). This is a good source on keeping track of other teams and players around the league: http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/freeagency/?action=login'>http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/freeagency/?action=login

Here is a link provided by DogofWar1. It's got a list of all of this years FA and it's a good source: http://www.kffl.com/static/nfl/featu...tion=OL&y=2013'>http://www.kffl.com/static/nfl/featu...tion=OL&y=2013

Here is another link provided by STBonecrusher21 from Pro Football Weekly. It's a team by team list of FA: http://www.profootballweekly.com/201...ree-agent-list'>http://www.profootballweekly.com/201...ree-agent-list

- Salaraly Cap Space - rick7423 is going to be keeping track of our cap throughout the FA period and the rest of the offseason on this thread (well worth the time if you are a front office nerd like me): http://www.extremeskins.com/showthread.php?379245-Redskins-2013-Salary-Cap'>http://www.extremeskins.com/showthread.php?379245-Redskins-2013-Salary-Cap

I think my top targets would be

1. Dashon Goldson

Just the other day my cousin (Miami fan) and I were going over the FA safeties and I saw Goldson's name on the list. Immediately I said I hoped we'd target him but I'm not sure if we can make it work $ wise.

3. If we are going to break the bank for one guy i would want it to be Clady or Wallace

Do you mean Mike Wallace? If so, I think we're fine without him. The way he held out of training camp and OTAs this year because he felt he was worth more money, shows to me that he's the kind of player we can do without.

I'm looking at Chris Houston and Tracy Porter before Rodgers-Cromartie... he's extremely overrated.

AWWWWW YEAAAHHH!

Let's get this party started!

Three things that might be good to put in the op, and other places as we go along would be age, injury history, and previous contracts (or for the case of guys coming off rookie contracts, expected contract requirements).

D Hall is willing to renegotiate his contract to stay in DC. I say we go for it to clear up cap space... looks like we'll need it.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/01/07/deangelo-hall-willing-to-talk-renegotiation-to-stay-in-washington/

This is good news for us, Hall taking a pay cut is one of the best routes through which we can free up some money. The fact that he's apparently somewhat willing to discuss a pay cut bodes very well.

You guys know that Clady is a LEFT tackle, correct? Why put a guy on the list to play RT with the Skins when he will be highly sought after by other teams needing an elite left tackle. Should not even be in the conversation. Or do you plan to replace Williams? Even then, we have no way to afford Clady.

Andre Smith and Gosder are the best of the RT bunch. But I don't know how they fit into a zone blocking scheme. Ryan Harris seems to be the best RT from a zone blocking team (HOU).

But then, Shanahan seldom looks for big name/high talent linemen. Most are high round rookies or UDFA.

Sad reflection on our RT position, but 4 of the 8 worse rated free agent OT by Pro Football Focus, play for or played for the Redskins recently.

lol I don't think that necessarily means a pay cut... it means give him more cash now and lower the contract numbers on paper. Just food for thought.

I think most just associate anyone with Shanahan and Allen in the past will be given some sort of home town discount, which is un true.

It really does. It shows the focus our team has on taking this thing to the next level. Let's hope other guys are just as willing. This will need to be a team effort for sure.... unless Allen works some magic with numbers that I just can't comprehend.

I love the age and contracts idea. Money is harder to find than you think though, so help me out with that. Injury history for some of these cats may be pretty long, though, hahaha.
