Any rumors on possible QB and oline coaches?? That's the next important thing to check off on the list

Could have picked up Callahan but the Titans jumped on him last week as their Oline coach.  Unfortunately he had to go with his son as the Titans HC.

I am wondering what he is going to do with Kerrigan and Randy Jordan.  He has coached Zgonina in Miami so he might stay.  But we have a lot of holes to fill.

Also Skip basically said that he has never even heard of Whitt Jr and he is one of the biggest Cowboys fans in the history of this planet! So I am not sure what to take from that.

What I take from that is that Skip is either dumb or a liar. Maybe both.

Watching Undisputed, Keyshawn, Skip, and Sherman basically said Drake Maye sucks. They all seemed to think that he wasn't even close to one of the top QBs in this draft. my take is none of them actually watch any games and skip is just being a caricature

Oh please.  I’ll take Dan Quinn’s word before I ever take Skip Bayless seriously.  I remember Troy and Joe Buck talking about Whitt during their many telecasts of Cowboys games.

Skip is the average fan.....he couldn't name 5 back ups on that team.  I certainly wouldn't put any merit into what he thinks about QB play.

Wouldn’t those SF candidates be nepotism hires that you are so against?

Assuming you aren’t being sarcastic I’ll answer, tho I suspect you are:

No, hiring the best assistant from the Shanahan tree wouldn’t be nepotism if done right. Mike Shanahan staffs are in Miami, San Fran, LA, Cincinnati, Green Bay, and Minnesota.  Scheduling 3-5 real interviews to determine maturity, plan, and terminology should’ve been the plan. From there pick the best man where vision and personality align.

Now if Kyle Shanahan called Dan Quinn via the food ole days in Atlanta and said “Hey, I’ve got this kid in Kubiak that’ll be great for your offense,” and he’s wink wink hired after a couple quick interviews then yes, that would be nepotism.

Hope this answers your question.

So Quinn interviews Kliff, thinks he is exactly what he wants as his OC, but you think he only hired him because the media says he is good? You dont think Quinn interviewed Kliff? Or think that Whitt had his interview the past few years under Quinn?

Hmmmmmm.  Harrison is the best player in the entire draft, hands down.  Not even close.  Sounds like Peters may be eyeing another QB in the draft to backup Howell.

***** I wonder if Rattler might be of interest. *****

It doesn’t sound like that at all (from Peters). And Quinn is clearly speaking “coach speak” about a player on his roster. This clip was even less illuminating than their presser responses about QB. Which were basically “it’s early in the draft process and even if we knew, we wouldn’t tell you ****”

You arent aware that Slowik worked with Demeco Ryans in SF are you? LOL. You just argued against yourself!!!!!!

Gotta love morons!

You’re so determined to insult me your reading comprehension is struggling, it’s ok, I’m used to it. Yes, I know Slowick and Ryan are familiar but Ryans hired a juggernaut coordinator who’s never done it before and developed a RoTY QB and made the playoffs , where Kliff Kingsbury was recently fired. Try it keep up buddy!

e.) that’s the million dollar question. Person you  trust or unknown quantity that may transform your team like Slowick in Houston.  Again, that’s what interviews are for.

Just for clarity, Slowick in Houston was a nepotistic hire.

Honestly, I think Quinn hired him based on his interview today where he thinks Kingsbury’s offense is hard for him (Quinn) to prepare against so he kept him and a few other coaches in the back of his mind as to who he’d work with if he got the chance again, so Kingsbury was on his short list.  I just don’t agree with that logic based on the history of Kingsburys offense and the disaster he was in Arizona.

Concerning Whitt, he’s being loyal to one of his guys who he trusts and thinks is smart and ready to go to war with.

Stuff like this doesn’t matter to me. It’s nice and all that people around the league like him, but that has nothing to do whether he’s a good coach or not. I’m not particular impressed with his resume and career thus far, and I feel as though they made a “personality” hire. Hope I’m wrong, but I don’t think Quinn will get far in DC.

Ron was a personality hire. Dan is an Xs and Os hire with a side of much needed leadership

Not according to his above post. He is so clueless its hilarious!!! Would shock me to learn he is older than 12.

Still waiting for a real answer where you attempt to use reasoning and the English language.  Insults tell me you may be the 12 year old…

Another big difference between Quinn and Rivera: when Rivera got canned, he basically migrated his operation to DC under the pretense that he didn't need to do anything differently, he just hit bad luck in Carolina. As soon as he got fired, Dan Snyder reached out and began the interview process.

Meanwhile, Quinn got fired mid-season and used that time to conduct a thorough & introspective self-period of reflection, focused on ferreting out his blindspots and understanding what he needed to change.

Not saying he did a good job or will be successful here, but that is a big difference. Rivera often came across arrogant and defiant: a politician through and through. Quinn does not come across that way at all.

Skip has to pretend to have a half-formed, controversial opinion on every sport under the sun, and pay particular attention to LeBron and the NBA because that’s his brand. Not one of his opinions is well-educated or vetted by a research staff behind the scenes. He’s a hot take specialist, his entire job is to cause clicks on social media. Hate clicks work fine for that. He’s a controversy engine fueled by online engagement.

I highly doubt he watches hardly any NFL games except the high profile night games and highlights. He’s a cowboys fan who throws his Dak jersey in his kitchen garbage can three times every season in a big show, filmed on a cell phone by his wife or whatever. He’s not an analyst and doesn’t watch film. Doesn’t talk to people in the game.

Skip revealing he doesn’t know who this highly regarded defensive assistant on his own team is, is both not surprising and hilariously revealing.

Kingsbury has a reputation as being a very good QB developer and offense designer.  He hasn’t been particularly successful as a HC, but his QBs and offenses have generally been good.  He was hired to be an OC, so I don’t really care that much about his failings as a HC, just his QB and offense work.

I still can't figure out why a coach would WANT to be GM too, considering how much time it takes away from actual coaching. It's good that Quinn seems fine about it...and of course the GM will involve him in the player selection process anyway...which all teams should be doing, unless you're the Cowboys. I heard on the radio that coach McCarthy and Dak Prescott weren't even aware that Jerruh had traded for Justin Fields until they saw him in the locker room one morning...another example of why the Cowboys will never win anything with Jerruh running the team.

Did I miss something? Jerruh traded for Fields?
