That could be smart from a medium-long term roster building mindset, but they are all in for the next 1-2 years. If they can fill LT by signing Smith and fill another position with their 1st round pick, they will probably go that route instead of doubling up on LT.

Disagree actually. I think Mariota might be more similar to Maye. Maye scrambles around and throws on the move more than Daniels does. Daniels doesn’t really scramble. He passes from the pocket structure or he becomes a runner.

In Kingsbury’s last year in Arizona they used a bunch of 11 and 12 personnel. Zach Ertz was used a ton.

This is a guy who could be a good target. Kind of guy who can be a leader on the field and help everyone around him.

I kind of doubt that they go for a C early. Stromberg was a 3rd round pick just a year ago. I would think that they probably give him a shot, and focus on getting OT early in this year’s draft.

I am absolutely pumped for how this defensive staff is shaping up. As for the offensive staff, I’m intrigued about how things are going to look. I don’t think it will really be fair to call it an Air Raid offense. It will probably a spread based offense still but in Arizona Kingsbury evolved away from Air Raid quite a bit. Based on what he did in Arizona, here is what I feel fairly confident about. -It will be shotgun dominant. Kingsbury used shotgun 90+% of the time in Arizona. -It will be almost exclusively 1 RB sets. -TE’s will probably get more usage than you expect. By his last season in Arizona, Kingsbury was using a TE on 90+% of plays, and multiple TEs on around 25% of plays. -Kingsbury won’t be afraid to take risks. He was among the league leaders in going for it on 4th down and going for 2 point conversions.

If you dismiss Goff, Mayfield, Hurts and Murray as inconsistent and thus unable to be classified as successful NFL QBs who came out of an air raid offense, then could you tell us which QBs in the NFL qualify as consistent? Seems like if you are throwing out guys like that they there can’t be more than a handfull.

One note on this. One reason that Cardinals were so shotgun heavy was because it gave short Murray room to move around and see his receivers. If the QB was a 6’4” Drake Maye for example, I’m not sure if things would be so shotgun heavy. Shotgun is a traditional staple of the air raid style, but Kingsbury is willing to adapt the offense to his personnel I think. Just curious on your analysis. Why do you think Robinson is such a poor fit for the offense?

Taken him this long? He is 44 and one of the younger GMs in the league. Plus he has turned down opportunities in the past. I would suspect that it’s more just that, compared to Quinn, he hasn’t had that much press conference experience. It takes some people time to grow into being comfortable with stuff like that.

Kingsbury has a reputation as being a very good QB developer and offense designer. He hasn’t been particularly successful as a HC, but his QBs and offenses have generally been good. He was hired to be an OC, so I don’t really care that much about his failings as a HC, just his QB and offense work.

Kingsbury! Cool! I think he is a below average HC, but his offenses are generally quite good, especially the QB play/development. I do think it’s interesting that they went with a spread style offense instead of a Shanahan tree style. And I don’t think it hints at who they will draft at #2. Any of Williams, Maye, or Daniels fit into his system.
