Watching Sean Payton get decimated by his own timeouts when the Patriots were trying to lay down and die for them... I have never witnessed such pure, blissful art.

That's not what happened. He ran it, got some yards, made Denver burn a TO, tried it again. They were always going to make a play at a first down and getting into FG territory.

Sean Payton could have just not called a timeout. Either the Patriots let the clock run out to overtime, or the Patriots call a timeout while Bill pulls the smoking gun away from his foot. Sean Payton gifted the game to them twice over.

If he hadn't called timeout, the Pats would've let some time run. and then go for the first down.

Yeah, leave it to Pwayton to call a TO and waste our time with a second left. Gree, what are going to do Sean? Hail Mary maybe?

Anyways were at #3 👍

They would have been doing so with significantly less time on the clock. If Ron had done it, we would be lambasting them. People were lambasting Bill a page ago while it was going down. You can't convince me that even if Bill was doing that all that while betting everything he had on the Broncos taking his bait, that it was actually a good idea to begin with.

Bill was playing checkers while Sean was playing 5 dimensional chess, and the checkers player won.

There wouldn't have been much less time. He ran because he knew they would call the TO. If they didn't, he would have switched to hurry up.

No way would I give Ron crap for that. He tried to win the game, as he should have. Zappe hadn't made a play all 4th quarter. He made one there. Which had zero to do with the TOs.

Let's not get carried away. They're still 9-5 and leading their division and their hands of stone receivers have probably costed them two games.

Don't care how good your QB is you still need a good team around that QB. Just my little jab at the grab  a QB at all costs crowd.
