One thing that I know after watching all these zombie/apocalypse shows is that I want no part of it. Just bite/shoot me and let me be done.

I’m still waiting one that realizes survival is a numbers game early on.  In all of them they’re always trying to limit who is with them.  Human production depends on numbers.  More people is more food more security and the ability to specialize.  That last one is key because it takes a lot of humans working on food, water, shelter, and security before you can spare enough to bring a power plant back online or staff a hospital.

Walking dead figured it out nearer the end.

So then, top 500?

I agree with what @Momma There Goes That Man but it’s a far cry from one of the best episodes ever. But get all defensive about it if you want…

Several people also mentioned the song that the played, I don’t really know the significance of it so to me it is just a song… maybe you had to play the game 🤷‍♀️

it’s in the pantheon of best episodes of television. I don’t have a ranking.

The song isn’t in the game. I don’t know much Linda Ronstadt here is what Mazin the cowriter and showrunner said

That’s similar to my thoughts after looking up the lyrics after the episode. It feels like it would be quite important to Bill, particularly the first verse as a closeted gay man never sure if he would ever be able to express himself to a partner or find love. that he found those things with that song is really special.  you can say it’s just a song but aren’t you curious when something like that is used in that type of moment? It’s never randomly chosen. I like diving into instances like that because they tell us more about the characters or what the writer/director were trying to get across. I appreciate the deeper meanings beyond surface level

So is it confirmed that Bill was gay?

I wasn't sure if he just wanted to feel some kind of love/affection to any person because he hadn't had human interaction for years, and it just happened to be a guy that came along.

But I do know about in the game about the porno mag that was found with Bill so that would indeed make one think that he was gay if he's looking at that stuff.  I didn't remember this stuff from the game but saw it today.

I haven’t seen anyone directly confirm it but I don’t think they need to. I always understood him to be gay with the magazine and especially what he says about having a partner and his reaction to seeing Frank’s body, whom he calls his partner. The show just takes the implication away and makes it concrete. I don’t think someone spends 20 years with a same sex partner just because they’re lonely, I think that would make them gay.

My take is that as someone that was a manly guns handy man survivalist type of guy in a small town in the early 2000s, it’s not something he really felt comfortable with coming out about. Probably has something to do with how he feels about humanity as a whole too and why he hated everybody prior to Frank.

The only issue I have with the “romance” is that bill fell for the oldest trick in the book regarding sex. Go take a shower and then I’ll please you is another phrase for I’m getting ready to steal all your ****. Also, “I’m not a prostitute” but I’m ready to bang you 3hrs into meeting you for the first time. Maybe that’s just how men are though 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

I do think Druckmann intentionally throws bombs at ****ty incel gamers and their ilk (like Gorka) by including gay people, trans people, hell, the leader of the WLF was a black guy and Abby's extremely capable best friend was a Mexican, all themes that make the world's worst people uncomfortable.  Frankly, I think his mindset is "my games (and now show) are so awesome, it will be your loss if you don't play it because of this, not mine."

I thought episode 3 was a very nice nod to love, companionship, & humanity all In the midst of incredibly difficult dreadful times. I just found it a bit boring. 🤷🏽‍♂️ Ready for the adventure ahead.

I really liked it. Thought it was too long tho. But it didn’t do much to progress the plot.

Says 12 percent of tv characters….

Well, over 7% of the US population identified as gay, lesbian, or bisexual last year...or put another way, if everyone in Florida were gay or bi. I would say if 12% of all TV characters were from Florida nobody would even notice. Hell, about 80% of all sitcom couples show an average looking man with a beautiful wife and we're cool with it lol...

If you recall:

Frank: "Who was the girl"

Bill: "There was no girl"

Frank: "I know."

That's pretty much concrete confirmation right there.
