Rivera and the entire FO should be fired for neglecting the O-Line this offseason.

Β

Everyone, and I mean everyone, agreed this was a problem last season.

Only TH's weird antics saved face when it collapsed around him on every snap.

These guys couldn't protect a bingo caller in an elderly home.

Exactly, won't don't want to be a hypocrite here if that's what we end up doing that id rather have BB, even if it will never happen.

Β

I think the truth is we need to get a good gm and let them pick the coach, even I'm nervous about a younger offensive HC.Β  It seems like we've tried everything and everything has failed for us, have to look at the constants on that one.

We have never hired a coveted, respected GM candidate and let him hire a coveted, respected HC candidate. Not in my lifetime, and I’m 34 years old.Β

And Reid without Mahomes is a punchline.

Β

Just strengthens the case for Gibbs as the GOAT: Belichick needed Brady, Reid needed Mahomes, Walsh needed Montana, Noll needed Bradshaw. Gibbs got it done 3 times with 3 different guys.Β Β

That’s absurd, Reid is an unquestioned HOF coach if he retires before Mahomes is drafted.Β

Reid without Mahomes is the furthest thing from a punchline, come on man. He went to a SB with McNabb, who compiled a hell of a career with the Eagles but is not some sort of HOF guy who carried Reid. Reid is still one of the most innovative and progressive offensive minds in the entire league even at his age. Yes, he’ll reach heights of greatness with Mahomes he never would have, as would anyone else who successfully developed him (credit you aren’t giving to Reid here). But Reid is an all-time offensive mind in this league and showed plenty before Mahomes came along to be considered legit. β€œPunchline” is an insult.Β

Punchline is an insult but not inaccurate. His accomplishments would always have been caveated with his lack of a SB win. It's not fair but it's how it is. In any case, all that is moot as he's now in the GOAT conversation and may end up the winningest coach of all time with who knows how many Lombardi's.

It was extremely inaccurate, and it’s fine in casual message board conversation to admit that, it’s not personal.

Β

What I meant was, a lot of people - many Philly fans, as an example - treated him like a punchlineΒ despiteΒ his accomplishments because he never won the big one.

Β

Since then he has shut everyone up. But as far as legacies go, it's more often the narrative vs. the reality that lives on.

Β

Similar to Ovechkin prior to his finally winning a Cup in 2018.

Sure, and those same Eagles fans were thrilled to watch Chip Kelly tear apart their roster and try to take the league by storm by measuring dudes’ hamstring temps and running the hurry-up nonstop. Safe to say fans can have a bit of a fisheye lens about their own situation, it’s happened to many of us here over the years.

Β

Reid had such a long tenure in Philly, it felt stale when they couldn’t win the big one and it was time to part ways. Part of that was his son dying at camp, things were just broken there for him after so long. So in that regard, sure Philly fans were ready to move on. But the national conversation around Reid has always been respectful and acknowledging of his offensive genius imo.Β

We may just be describing the same set of circumstances differently. Philly fans were not upset to see him go (pyrrhic victory for them as you mention) and KC fans were not thrilled with him prior to Mahomes' emergence, either.

Β

Yes, he was always well-regarded and a HOF lock. But legacy-wise, he wasn't in the conversation with the top 3 or top 5 guys IMO.

Β

Nevertheless, all moot now and we should be so lucky as to find someone even three-quarters as good a coach as Reid.

Reid was not well regarded by the Philly fans because of his relative lack of playoff success. Even in KC, same issue dogged him before Mahomes took over.

Who cares…So it’s better to be perennially average to garbage then have Andy Reid who has consistently found qbs that can cater to winning records….lets be real Mahomes didn’t take over anything the chiefs traded up to get him and who was behind that?

It’s important to note that the guy that out coached Rivera and his staff had been the butt of many β€œlol this dude is an awful coach” jokes all season.Β
Β

I distinctly remember people debating whether he may be fired mid season.Β

Reid has always been regarded as a good coach, but I think finally winning SBs with Mahomes has elevated him into the "Top 10 of all time" conversation.

Β

And yes, Reid and Belichick are irrelevant in a thread which is discussing the fact that Rivera sucks.

And bienemy. Giants gave up 5.1 rushing yards, our oline is historically bad at not giving up sacks yet somehow the game plan was lets try to air it out….bienemy is not head coach material at least not yet .

Question for prospective DC’s:

Β

True or false, in the NFL you’re only allowed to blitz in the second half?

Well, it depends. JDR’s philosophy is that if they have a super horrible o-line, you must give them every chance to be competitive by only rushing 4. Anything else is unfair and we all know how fair JDR wants to be. But, some other coaches like Twinky Martindale will blitz, even for a whole first half a game.Β
Β

JDR doesn’t even think you should blitz qbs that in general really suck against the blitz while other d-cos will. Just check out the game against Justin Fields.Β JDR does not like any mismatches, it’s unfair to the opposing team and you might get a leg up against them.

Β

Actually, I don’t think JDR likes bringing pressure at all. JDR is not aware that pressure makes diamonds.

Β

EB hates the run. He doesn’t like it. He ran as a player and decided that he had too much of it in his life. He divorced the run many ages ago. He also hates making any kind of adjustments until the second half. For example, Howell never got a roll out in the first half (I don’t think), but once we recovered the ball on special teams, EB called a roll out. He did a few more times in the game.

Β

EB hates it when the QB does anything except take a 5 step drop or stand there in shotgun and get pummeled by the defensive. Rumor is he doesn’t even keep count how many times his qb gets hit.Β
Β

I have come to the conclusion that EB hates both RBs and QBs (or maybe he just wants to see Howell be the first murder on the field during a NFL game. It’s really the only thing that makes sense at this point.

You folks that don’t think Andy MoFo Reid isn’t one of the greatest coaches ever, even without Mahomes are just silly. Bless your heart!Β
Β

Actually, Fan since a Fetus might have to go visit the Tailgate so The Fetus Boo can read something dumber today. Because right now, FsaF could not be more disappointed in something a football fan says than that.Β
Β

Fan since a Fetus will take Reid without Mahomes over Belli boy without Brady 10/10 times. Reid has been the best head coach over the last 20 years and Fetus Baby doesn’t even think it’s close.
