I feel this could be earth shattering, if Flores can get people to join his lawsuit. Felt it deserved it's own thread.

He filed a class action lawsuit. This only works, if other coaches join him.

He gave a good interview on Get Up..

How many need to join. Is Hue Jackson enough or do more need to join?

On the tanking matter, I know what it means about betting but.... Is it supposed to be surprising that teams did it? Suck for Luck, Tank for Tua, even what we wanted to get the top draft picks..... Is it that they offered to pay with money instead of a pat on the back? If anyone thinks the Colts starting Curtis Painter and Kerry Collins wasn't tanking, I don't know what to tell you.

I think being offered money to tank certainly makes it a lot worse. I think the NFL will definitely be angry about that and come down hard on the teams' front offices.

as I asked elsewhere, what exactly explains Marvin Lewis' lengthy tenure at Cincy? Herm Edwards got two different tries, and a decent amount of time with the Jets. Was Caldwell that good a coach (I think he was OK) to get Flores seems to have been fired for his relationship with his QB and GM. Broncos had hired a black coach and he had two successive bad campaigns before firing. Guys get fired much faster now, unless they squeak in a good season that extends it. Doug Pederson had issues with wanting more control or whatever, and got fired and he won a SB.

This isn't so much a defense of the league but we aren't allowed to ask the tough questions about the reasons for disparities in specific instances or generally, and this isn't just about hiring practices in the NFL. I don't know that Flores or the accusations of tanking are the best arguments if it's about discrimination. Nor do I think Miami or Denver are guilty of it, since they hired black coaches, including Flores himself. Giants are guilty of violating the Rooney Rule or Bill B really did misread news on his phone and has blown everything up.  But that doesn't mean racism, though it might in their case.

The Giants, I hate to defend them, did not break the Rooney rule.  Frazier was interviewed twice, at least one time before Daboll’s second interview.

The throwing games issue is huge, especially with the Browns owner too.

As far as rules go to prevent tanking, have an unweighted lottery for non playoff teams.  Or even all teams, for the first two rounds.

The system is interesting. Players will never tank. Their contracts prevent doing so with incentives, potential for new contracts, etc. The only part of the league who could encourage tanking is upper management. In this specific Miami case, it's also not a good look that it appears Stephen Ross may be a minority investor with a casino/sports book.

So if a player has a contract that pays him a bonus for winning, and then the owner of the team is paying the coach a bonus for losing, can the player sue the owner for loss of earnings?

I am really hoping that Flores or Hue Jackson, etc. has recordings socked away because without that the owners will sweep this under the rug and bribe whoever needs it to make it go away.

I have no illusions when it comes to the league and their willingness to protect their fiefdoms at any cost.

If any owner, player or coach does anything to damage the reputation and integrity of the game, it's a huge deal. purposefully losing absolutely does that. It's one thing for fans to have "Suck for Luck" movements, it's a different thing entirely for owners and GMs to make them their operating plan.

I have a BIG problem with people owning sports books AND owning a professional sports team. BIG problem.

They could have broken the "spirit of the Rooney Rule" though...which I hope is a thing that bites them straight in the ass lol...

Not saying that Flores is lying, I believe he is probably telling the truth. However, he should have been so enraged at the time that he found some way to document those bribes and/or stepped down immediately. When people hide something bad like that and then come forward at a later date, they always say they were afraid of losing their job. He would not of had financial worries. He should have shown more integrity at the time.

On a message board with fans saying that, after 20+ years of incompetence and losing seasons and ****ting on fans and cheerleader abuse and rampant sexual harassment and even sexual assault of female employees, changing the name to "Commanders" is where they quit being a fan...it should be easier for us to understand why offering bribes to lose would not make someone immediately say "I quit" lol...

Does anyone else reading the text exchange between Flores and Belichick think that Belichick MEANT to text Flores?

Belichick's last text seems to indicate he read the text he got on who the Giants coach was going to be wrong and sent the congrats to the wrong guy.

It seems to me like he thought Flores was getting the job and texted him.

I suppose its possible he just texted the wrong Brian... but... does he not have last names in his phone?

If he had been texting both "Brians" recently he could get it mixed up if not paying attention. I've sent text to the guy I contract with that were meant for my daughter lol...

Sure.

The conversation looks like he realizes he's talking to Flores. And when Flores questions it he goes back to read the text as if he's saying, "Huh... the guy is going to get the Giants job and he has no idea?" and then realizes the text he got about the Giants says Brian DABOLL, not Brian Flores.
