2024 ES GM's Mock Draft....

With the 91st pick of the draft, the Packers select
Dominick Puni, OL, Kansas

Packers love to draft College Left Tackles to play every position on the offensive line.  Dominick Puni is another such lineman trusted to protect his QB's blind side, but his build translates better to a move to slide inside to Guard with his arms a bit shorter than ideal for Tackle.  But he put up some great agility measurables in the combine which tend to translate very well.  His 4.40s Shuttle is elite, and his 7.47s 3-cone-drill is also shows for a very high level lateral agility.  I expect Puni to come in and compete for the starting RG job.  Even if he doesn't win the job, he should provide high-level depth across the line.

With the 92nd pick, Bucs select G Zak Zinter, Michigan.

Probably a 2nd rounder before his injury.  Recovery is reportedly going well.  Fills a big need and will start when healthy.  Bucs feel they got a discount on a great prospect.

Zinter enters the league with NFL size, toughness and technique. He is an average athlete in short spaces but is very capable of climbing to the second level with good angles and making hits on short pulls. He can be stood up and neutralized by two-gapping pluggers but is rarely beaten soundly. His pass protection will be average by NFL standards. Active rushers will give him more issues than you might like. Zinter’s draft stock might be hindered by the recovery from his injury, but the tape suggests he’s a starter on the next level.

Ok, in all fairness I gave @clskinsfan a hard time thinking he may have jinxed us. So at the risk of doing it myself 🙂, he made the right to call out the good pace. This is great! Keep it up!

Not going to lie, the Bengals almost quit the draft when the 49ers took Theo Johnson but we have shaken it off and reset.  With the 97th pick the Cincinnat Bengals select

Ben Sinnott, TE Kansas State

@e16bball is on the clock

Nice pick!

It's actually @Redskins Reparations and the Steelrs next. That my mistake trying to skip them.  They have enough SBs anyway...   🙂

One of the major changes Sean McVay made to his offense last season was moving to more of a gap power scheme in the run game. Committing to this approach, the Rams have invested heavily in IOLs who can maul their way to interior dominance — 330 pound 2nd-rounder Steve Avila will start at center, and they poured $33M AAV into monster guards Jonah Jackson and Kevin Dotson.

One benefit of this change is that former 5th round pick Kyren Williams has emerged as a legitimate starter, despite doubts about his size/speed combo as a prospect. His vision, balance, and tempo have allowed him to excel in this power scheme.

This pick will provide Kyren with a backfield mate who shares those traits, and adds a bit more speed and explosion. He was PFF’s #2 gap scheme runner of the last two years, he’s a two-time All-American, and he just so happened to carry his team to a national championship last year. We expect that he will soon make up the lion’s share of an extremely effective RB duo.

With the 99th pick, the Los Angeles Rams select Blake Corum, RB, Michigan

With the 100th pick in the 2024 Draft the Washington Commander select Austin Booker 6'5 245 Edge Kansas

NFL Comparison

Maxx Crosby

Overview

Truly unique prospect combining tremendous upside with an extremely limited sample size. A more conservative approach on Booker’s grade might be prudent, but it becomes a difficult route to take when observing his length, explosive athleticism and rush talent. Booker needs to get bigger and stronger, but that will come. The diversity of his rush approach is unheard of for a player with so little playing time. He can stride and dip at the top of the rush or beat tackles back inside with a Euro step or spin counter. He can stab and long-arm tackles into the pocket or stay separated from them at the point of attack. He chases quarterbacks and running backs with agility and burst but can be inconsistent dealing with a downhill running game. His reps against talented Texas left tackle Kelvin Banks Jr. could be the springboard to push this gifted edge defender with monster traits up the draft board toward an exciting NFL career.

Strengths

Possesses basketball-player wingspan with a frame that is sure to add more mass.

Pairs long-striding edge attack with vicious inside spin counter.

Impressive speed-to-power and dip-and-flatten techniques as a rusher.

Excellent feel for turning shoulders and eluding blocker’s hands.

Length and speed put him on top of QBs/RBs before they know it.

Out-reaches the tackle to extend and set the edge versus the run.

Shows unique ability to use his length to work around blocks.

Has pursuit speed to rack up tackles and tackles for loss as a pro.

Weaknesses

One of the lowest career snap counts (505, per PFF) you’ll see for a draftable prospect.

Needs to get much stronger in both his upper and lower body.

Pad level can get away from him on inside moves.

Gets in trouble when run blockers sink into frame.

Could struggle against downhill run attacks without trying to elude blocks.
