Judge blocks Texas from collecting info on transgender children receiving gender-affirming care

A Texas judge on Friday temporarily blocked state Attorney General Ken Paxton from forcing an LGBTQ+ advocacy group to hand over information about transgender children receiving gender-affirming medical care.

The ruling came just one day after PFLAG National went to court to try to stop Paxton’s office from getting the information.

Travis County District Court Judge Maria Cantú Hexsel said in an order that providing the information would harm PFLAG and its members in several ways, including violating their rights of free speech, association and protection from unreasonable searches. Additionally, the judge said, it would be a “gross invasion” of privacy.

A hearing was scheduled for March 25 to give the attorney general’s office a chance to make the case for why Friday’s order shouldn’t continue.

Alabama official calls for firing of transgender Space Camp employee after parent speaks out

Quote

Several Alabama politicians say they are concerned about children’s safety at Huntsville’s Space Camp after a parent complained about the presence of a transgender employee.

U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville and Reps. Dale Strong and Robert Aderholt posted statements on X, formerly known as Twitter, after a parent posted on Facebook complaining about the gender identity of one of the U.S. Space and Rocket Center employees. The topic was also picked up by the Libs of TikTok account.

That's from two weeks ago. I'm sure the fight contributed to the suicide but not in the way that's legally actionable

Since it's in today's article I'm assuming that nothing has changed over the past two weeks in that regard.

And manslaughter charges could be sought if it's determined that both the physical fight and the bullying are tied together as playing a role in the suicide.

It's repulsive and intensely ironic how so many, damningly ignorant of what is know scientifically about our sexuality, can be so fearful of, and hateful to, trans people and find serious threat in their miniscule number.

The fifty shades of vile and crazy that permeate the forty to sixty million population of maga world, where such fear and hate is commonplace, is a far more deserving recipient of fear and hatred.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A federal appeals court has overturned a West Virginia transgender sports ban, finding that the law violates Title IX, the federal civil rights law that prohibits sex-based discrimination in schools.

The 2-1 ruling Tuesday from the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals blocks a West Virginia law banning transgender girls from playing on girls' sports teams.

That's probably because you don't really know the science behind gender.

If theoretically a person can be a woman despite having a penis, why should we (taxpayers/health insurance payers) have to fund their expensive! efforts to transform their penises into… well… something that at least kinda looks like a vagina.

Read up on the very real and very damaging effects of knowing you're female, of having every synapse in your brain and every chemical in your body constantly telling you that you're female, yet being condemned in a "male" body (or conversely, being male forced to exist within a female body). The suicide rate among trans people is a reflection of that reality. When they look in the mirror they don't see themselves, or anyone...they see a jail cell that they're condemned to spend the rest of their lives in even though they didn't do anything illegal or criminal. Using that jail example, surgery can be like an innocent man sent to jail for life suddenly getting a pardon and released from prison.

So, no, it's not just for "looks."

All great arguments for therapy to help learn to accept and love themselves. That's definitely covered by insurance fwiw.

edit to add: Body Dystrophic Disorder can also be treated by therapy. Or if the patient really feels like they need it, they can get a cosmetic procedure (which is not covered by insurance)

There is no one-size-fits-all to gender dysphoria, though. Which, for the record, is what the overwhelming majority of trans peoples suffer from, NOT Body Dysmorphic Disorder. Those are two completely different and separate things.

What you're suggesting is a bit like the hospital mistakenly putting "female" on a newborn's birth certificate, and then telling the child and his parents that he's gonna have to live his life as a girl but don't worry, we have therapy that can help you deal with it.

Parents: "Why can't we change the birth certificate?"

Hospital: "Oh, no, that's an official medical document, we can't change that."

Think of it...when we fully allow ourselves to understand all the complicated biological mechanisms behind gender, having a doctor look at your genitals 2 seconds after you're born and say "This is what you're going to be for the rest of your life" starts to sound a bit idiotic lol...
