Phillies and Bryce eliminated.. again.. lol

This means Soto gets MVP now right? Bryce's only argument (on a contender) is gone

4 walks again last night.  Dude is in such ALL-TIME elite company when it comes to him getting on base that he should absolutely win NL MVP.  Currently .470 OBP highest full season average since Chipper Jones in 2008 (Soto was at .490 last season).  Soto is the only qualified batter with more walks than strikeouts this season, with 144 free passes and just 88 punchouts.  He did it last season too.  Only other player has done that in his qualified age-22 season or younger in the Wild Card Era: Albert Pujols in 2002. And Soto will now have done it twice within that age frame.

BA did a mock in July, the 5th overall pick (the Royals at the time) was:

Termarr Johnson, SS, Mays HS, Atlanta

Johnson has some of the best barrel control and pure hitting traits in the 2022 class and seems totally in control of every at-bat with top-of-the-order upside. He’s performed at a high level with Team USA and has played shortstop, second base and centerfield, with almost unconsciously smooth actions and sure hands defensively. He’s listed at 5-foot-10, 175 pounds and doesn’t have the most projectable frame, but does everything on the field at a very high level already. Johnson is uncommitted.

I'm glad he decided to walk away on his own terms. I really didn't want to see him in another uniform. Age caught up to him.

This city/franchise have a lot to be thankful for because of Ryan Zimmerman.

Really touching to see the respect Josh Bell showed him after playing with him for 1 year.

Cool Zimmerman stat:

Among all players not in the Hall of Fame, Zimm is the all time leader in walk off homers.

Dude is Mr. National. Put a statue up of him the second he retires. Give him a job and a salary for life in the organization letting him do whatever he wants.

It will be an interesting offseason. I wouldn't bet on any major pitching acquisitions, lots of inconsistency and questions in this list:

Quote

Starting pitchers: Trevor Bauer (opt-out), Dylan Bundy, Johnny Cueto (club option), Zach Davies, Kevin Gausman, Zack Greinke, Clayton Kershaw, Corey Kluber, James Paxton, Robbie Ray, Eduardo Rodriguez, Carlos Rodón, Max Scherzer, Marcus Stroman, Noah Syndergaard, Justin Verlander

Relievers: Archie Bradley, Jeurys Familia, Brad Hand, Raisel Iglesias, Kenley Jansen, Andrew Miller, Adam Ottavino, Trevor Rosenthal, Kirby Yates
