Cooleyfan1993
So, there's a long pause between his first and last name? I sure hope Dez can Catch TDs
RVAskins
I sure hope Josh Norman and Dez don't get into it at training camp. We all know how Josh feels about Dez.

bowhunter
I'm guessing they may be looking at his KR skillset. Roster has "No Vacancy" signs at the WR position
justice98
Almost had me there. I actually thought Dez Briscoe was coming back.

NickyJ
That's true, BALLz, but I thought that Devery Henderson was supposed to fit that bill.

HanburgerBum
I'm guessing they may be looking at his KR skillset. Roster has "No Vacancy" signs at the WR position If Dez Stewart was signed as a return guy, that could mean the Skins aren't all that happy with Rashad Ross. NickyJ
Or it could mean that he's a camp body like just about every UDFA we've ever signed between June and August.

skins island connection
gonna cause me to crack open the bottle before 8 a.m., eh? I had a flashback to the mid 90's and thought Dezmond Howard. But then I realized it is Desmond, but hell I kept the bottle out anyway, just in case. You....you....you mudda-beeches !!!

HanburgerBum
Or it could mean that he's a camp body like just about every UDFA we've ever signed between June and August. Wasn't the best returner in Redskins history, Mike Nelms, a UDFA? And, my namesake Chris Hanburger was a very late round draftee (he would be a UDFA in today's 7-round draft). And, my namesake Chris Hanburger was a very late round draftee (he would be a UDFA in today's 7-round draft). Both were drafted. And more importantly, neither were rookie UDFAs signed after June. If someone falls through the cracks after the initial UDFA signings, he isn't likely to be signed as a threat to any veteran. Except Andre Roberts. Anyone is a threat when compared to Andre. pjfootballer
I loved Mike Nelms, but his stay was short. Brian Mitchell is the best returner in Redskins history and it isn't even close.

If Nelms was a draftee, then I stand corrected. Yes, Hanburger was drafted. But, he (and I presume Nelms too) was drafted very late. In today's 7-round draft, both would likely have been UDFAs. HanburgerBum
I loved Mike Nelms, but his stay was short. Brian Mitchell is the best returner in Redskins history and it isn't even close. Like they say, reasonable people can disagree. Mitchell no doubt was more durable and had a far longer career with far better total stats. But, I think Nelms was the best returner in Redskins history if longevity isn't a primary consideration. He had great moves and great explosion. In those attributes, to me, he was better than Mitchell. And, Nelms hardly ever placed the ball on the ground. Another great Redskins returner that belongs in the conversation was Brown. Not very fast, but he somehow managed to put up a lot of good returns. Leroy mmmJENKINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who? My memory isn't good. Was Leroy Jenkins a Redskins returner? Not very fast, but he somehow managed to put up a lot of good returns. Who? My memory isn't good. Was Leroy Jenkins a Redskins returner? I'm assuming you are talking about Eddie Brown. Yeah, he was an underrated return guy. Nelms was only with us from 80-84. He and Mitchell were very similar guys who would never fair catch and returned like it was their last return. I think sometimes we as older fans tend to glamorize the players from the Super Bowl years more then some maybe deserve. Nelms only returned 2 punts (9 yard avg) for TDs and 0 for Kicks (23 yd avg) in his career for us. I loved Nelms, but he was a smaller guy than Mitchell and ultimately, injuries cut his career short. Yes, Mitchell will have "amassed" more stats because he played longer, but he returned 9 punts (7 with us for 11 yd avg) and 4 Kicks (2 with us for a 23 yd avg also). He was 225 lbs compared to 188 for Nelms. Like I said, I love Nelms, but there is no comparison. I sure, I'm OK with someone else thinking another player was better. Totally your prerogative. And BTW, I don't know about these youngsters, but when I think of 21, Nelms is always first to me. I loved watching Sean Taylor, but 21 is Nelms to me first. Good convo. Love talking about some of the older teams.
