Suppose I had a multi million dollar idea for a website...

Sacks 'n' Stuff

As some of you know, i average about three multi-million dollar ideas per week. This time it's for a website so I know I need a developer. What else would I need to do to protect the idea and make sure I own enough of the product when it's complete so that when eBay wants to buy it for $400 million in a few years, I'm not getting screwed by someone.

What was the poster that had all the nonsense stock tips and how to get rich? I believe he caught the ban hammer. Completely brain farting on his username.

And sacks and stuff, if you're semi serious and you need a legit web developer, shoot me a PM. I got the perfect person for you.

It's a fundraising tool that connects non-profits, businesses, and communities.

Through porn.

Woah Woah woah.

I am on the board of a non profit.

I own a business.

I live in a community and am the HOA president.

But seriously, you had me at porn.

LOL Well I already had a website business once in my life. I learned that getting rich on the internet is like a needle in a haystack.

What was your site?

I'm a web developer, PM me if you have basic questions without having to give your idea.

Any good suggestions for a company to talk to about developing this idea? The technology, coding, and integration involved would be nontrivial.

I sold everything Nascar online.  And I hate Nascar.  The jackets they wear, plates, earrings, etc.  I made good side money for a couple of years, but competition selling foreign made cheaper products undercut me and left it unprofitable.

How do you know the coding, integration, etc is nontrivial.

Here is the thing about a website.  The most nontrivial thing PERIOD is acquiring customers.  And if your website does start to take fire, a bunch of competitors will in all likelihood jump in and squash you because you don't have the money to fully compete.  So you would need investors as early on as possible.  The technology is by far your easiest problem.

Maybe I'm wrong. I hope I am. I doubt it though. I'm thinking this is the kind of project that takes months and costs tens of thousands.

The other problem you mentioned... It's all non-profit so hopefully that reduces / eliminates the concern for competition.

LOL, oh you mean nontrivial compared to standing up a godaddy website.

Any website that requires integration with other companies websites/databases, and professional looking will take several months and tens of thousands of dollars in all likelihood.  A basic business website would probably coast anywhere from $0 - $25,000?  $50,000?  any amount?

But it's all non-profit and eliminates concern for competition isn't what you claim in the OP.  ;)
