China Posted April 8, 2019 Share Posted April 8, 2019 Suspect arrested in road rage killing of a 10-year-old girl in front of her family in Phoenix (CNN)A man was arrested Friday in the fatal shooting of a 10-year-old girl in what appears to be road rage, Phoenix police said. Summer Brown was riding with her family Wednesday evening when their car appeared to cut off a white pickup truck in traffic, said Sgt. Vince Lewis, a spokesman for the Phoenix Police Department. The driver, identified as Joshua Gonzalez, 20, followed them closely for the duration of their trip until they pulled into their driveway, he said. "The suspect ... opened fire on the vehicle, striking it numerous times," Lewis said. "The victims had just arrived home." Summer's father, Dharquintium Brown, said the suspect "was ready to start shooting" as soon as they arrived. " I got out of my vehicle, and asked him, 'What's going on?' " he told CNN affiliate KNXV. "And he just got to firing. He shot my car, and he shot me, and he shot up my house and he killed my daughter." China Posted April 26, 2019 Share Posted April 26, 2019 ----------------------------------- In other news: 7-year-old girl in critical condition after apparent accidental shooting in Shively A young girl was shot in the head at a home in Shively on Tuesday afternoon. A MetroSafe official confirmed a juvenile was shot around 3:06 p.m. Tuesday in the 2200 block of Crums Lane. Shively Police Lt. Col. Josh Myers said the girl, believed to be 7, was taken from the Shively apartment to Norton Children's Hospital. She remained in critical but stable condition after undergoing surgery, Myers said Wednesday. Myers said that based off preliminary information, it appears the child was accidentally shot. Myers said the girl and her 11-year-old brother were in the home alone while their guardian, their uncle, was just outside. A handgun was found by the brother, Myers said, and the girl suffered one gunshot wound while the two children were playing with it.
