DrillMusic
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000500028/article/russell-wilson-would-consider-both-football-baseball check out this article above and then read the comments lol it seems that russell wilson is starting to get the rg3 treatment, i cant be the only one noticing this a lot more... " JUST SHUT UP AND PLAY comments. and," I HOPE SOMEBODY TAKES THIS OVERRATED QBS KNEES OUT". WHY WONT WILSON JUST SHUT UP remmeber after rg3's rookie year, and the nfl players voted him number 15 on the top 100, and the media at nfl network, came out and asked if that was too high off a ranking for him, basically saying" how dare you rank him ahead of andrew luck" THIS VIDEO LINK BELOW IS THE REACTION TO ROBERT BEING RANKED NUMBER 15 ON THE TOP 100 PLAYERS LIST BACK IN 2012 http://www.nfl.com/videos/washington-redskins/0ap2000000213772/Is-RGIII-overrated Well fast forward to 2015 and the nfl network made a video about wilson asking whether or not his ranking at 22 was too high( I myself personally thought he should be in the teens, so this isnt me hating on the kid.. its just funny how the same thing that happened to robert a few years back is happening to the golden boy in russell wilson.) CHECK OUT THE VIDEO LINK BELOW OF THE RECENT REACTION TO RUSSELL WILSONS PLACEMENT ON THE TOP 100 ( their basically calling him overrated) http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-top100-reactions/0ap3000000498778/Is-Russell-Wilson-ranked-too-high-on-Top-100 Seems like any young qb that outperforms Andrew Luck is a target to the media and they want break his confidence with negative articles, they just had no ammunition on wilson until last years nfc championship game and the 4th quarter of the superbowl i just dont know why out of the qbs being listed the only ones that ever got any heat for their ranking were rg3 and russell wilson. Meanwhile andrew lucks first 2 years where below average for a number 1 pick, and the media can only talk about his comeback wins. Its gonna be very intresting to see if the seahawks have a hangover from last year, how much the media goes after russell wilson, similar to rg3.. ill be keeping my eye out for that
SkinsGuy
It's called 'falling off the pedestal the media built for him'. The media has portrayed Wilson as this nice, friendly, no-ego guy, who played a good game of football. Now with the INT at the end of the SB, and his agent's (and thus Wilsons') demands that he be the highest paid player in the NFL, the media are going to take great glee in tearing down what they once built up. NickyJ
I'm not enjoying it. Seeing people senselessly torn down for the sake of needing someone to rag on disappoints me. From everything I've heard, he's still a good guy (as is RG3), so, yeah. I don't care what team you're on (I've always kind of hated Seattle anyway), when good people get trashed for not being the absolute example of perfection that the media builds them up to be, I'm never going to celebrate it. skinsmarydu
Well said, SkinsGuy. Crapahan could've taken 10 out of the game early & we'd all be singing a different tune. Media decided to turn on 10, as if it was his fault he got hurt. An experienced coach could've made a decision, a 22-year-old's ego be damned, and Redskins Nation would/could be SB champs by now. No, I'm not bitter...

Oh, I'm not saying we should enjoy it. This is simply what the media (in this case, the sports media) does. Builds someone up, then tears them down. I think it is ridiculous for Wilson to be demanding to be the highest paid player in the NFL (if he is), but I'm not blaming him for trying to get it. dreamshatterer
Not enjoying it. The guy came so close to winning back to back Super Bowls. Accomplishments in sports generally lead to a lot of haters in the media.
Boss_Hogg
I like Russell, he's a local kid (Richmond, VA represent!) and he's damn good. I don't like watching this happen to him, he's been nothing but class since he entered the league in 2012.
jflow78
I've thought he was over-rated for a long time, so I don't really care. I figured it would happen at some point, or I'd be proven wrong. His playoff stretch last season was atrocious and, again, he was just lucky his D and RB were there to pull him out...until the SB.

wysknz1
He has one thing I wish RGIII had. A ring. I liked Wilson even watching him in college. I still wish we would have stayed put and got him over RG, and kept the picks.

Mr. Sinister
Wilson is the perfect QB for that team. usually makes good decisions, plays within himself. Smart, instinctual, very good elusiveness within the pocket.... the type of guy who won't ring up the scoreboard with his arm, but will do enough to carry his weight, and let the defense and special teams and the run game do the heavy lifting. And if the game is close, he'll use his athleticism and headiness to make a play or two in the end to get the W. He's the type of guy that if you have a solid support structure, can help you win. He's not the type of guy that can take up a sizable chunk of your cap, and win being the driving force of your football team.... The guy that, if he doesn't play well, you lose. He's not that guy, I don't care what kind of sabremetric darrelgreenie or someone else wants to pull out of a magical top hat. Thats why Seattle is probably laughing their ass off at his agents demands. They have a structure in place in how to build a football champion, and paying elite level $$ for a QB is not something they're going to do. Not if they want to continue to be a dominant defensive football team. They see him everyday. They know what he can and cannot do. If they were as awed by his talents as a QB like some people that exaggerate his abilitiy/importance are, they wouldn't have declined his fifth year option The Seahawks, through great talent eval, have given him multiple safety nets and get out of jail free cards. Without those, he is limited. Or ordinary (whichever adjective make Wilson bots happy) He was a feel good story. The underdog who defied the odds. But now he no longer views himself as an underdog. He views himself as the top dog. That infuriates normal people, and columnists/hot take radio peeps. They want him to stay in his underdog lane and drink warm milk and be little Timmy's hero. Not screw famous r&b/pop chicks and get that c.r.e.a.m. When one challenges that narrative, thats when everyone turns. We all knew it was a matter of time. Im glad he's doing what he's doing, because it shows he's no different than any other high level competitor. It shows that he's no different than the people folks wanted so badly to compare and contrast him with. So because he doesnt want to play for pennies anymore, fans (who are stupid, fake, hypocritical, unrealistic morons) get angry. Good for him. Those people menstruating on message boards and sports talk radio call in segments across America brings a smile to my face. Good for him. I don't think he's worth it, and I ultimately do not think this ends well for him, but.... Good for him.
balki1867
I don't know what there is to enjoy. The guy has earned his payday and I don't really blame him for negotiating for it. Most pro athletes only get one big contract in their career and he should absolutely go for it. If he gets his leg shattered on opening day in September nobody is going to pay him for being such a nice guy.

I think there's certainly someone out there that will pay him more than Seattle. I don't think he's worth it, but I'm sure there's still a couple Vinny's in the league that will over-rate his talent. Switchgear
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/07/06/russell-wilson-says-god-spoke-to-him-right-after-super-bowl-interception/ That new Russell Wilson interview, nearly a full hour in all, contains plenty of interesting things. Along with multiple examples of Wilson hearing the voice of God, directly and audibly. The one that surely will get the most media attention comes from Wilson’s claim that God told Wilson not to have premarital relations with his new girlfriend, Ciara. But Wilson also says God spoke to him after that fateful interception at the end of Super Bowl XLIX. “The play happens, and they pick the ball off. And I take three steps,” Wilson said. “And on the third step God says to me, ‘I’m using you. . . . I want to see how you respond. But most importantly I want them to see how you respond.”
Mr. Sinister
Well clearly Russ is a devil worshipper and it was Satan, not God who told him that. Zazzaro703
I don't mind all the God talk from Wilson about the final play of the superbowl. He is just a human like the rest of us and its just his way of coming to terms with being the center piece of what will probably go down as footballs all time bone headed plays. And yes that last bit was meant to be read in the voice of Jim Carrey.
