VR: Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton, Ariana Grande Among Celebrities Exposed in Massive Nude Photo Leak

I find it funny that some of these women are dumb enough to load stuff like that into the cloud and then think everyone is just as dumb as them when their publicists that say "the leaked photos are fake".  Are we supposed to believe that?

As others above have said, once it's out there, it's out there forever.  ANYTHING CAN GET HACKED.  They think they're invincible and that no one would try to hack their accounts?  Of course people want to hack their accounts, they're public figures and therefore (sadly) they're targets.

That said, IX is correct about this. It's not right.

CF, Clearly you have never been to South Beach. Lots to see, including some men in a thong bikini. haha.

I am saying people that look for these things. You don't have to click the link, you don't have to look for it through other means. My phone updates news and this was a story that popped up. Yeah...I did not have interest in looking for it.

Porn is easily available for eveyone, if that is what you are into.

I personally do not equate nude with sex. I think that is silly.

Immediately after showing them to her I deleted them from my phone and told her to do the same, for this very reason.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead said on twitter that the photos of her were deleted long ago. Sounds like iCloud kept them around. Or she didn't go about deleting them correctly.

You would think at this point that celebs would know better than to use a cell phone to take naked pics. Or at least use Snapchat.  And certainly know better than to trust that an online storage service would not get hacked.

Apple is going to have some tough questions to answer.

And I never will now, thanks to you lol...

I didn't look for it, either...saw a link about it on a side menu on another site, and was thinking it was more about the iCloud breach than anything (never heard of the linked site). When I clicked on the link...Hello! Jennifer Lawrence as never seen before lol.

There is one CIA level photo analysis of the Victoria Justice photos that took six photos and pointed out all of the matching elements between full body clothed photos of her and the boob pics. A robe hanging in the background of one shot being worn in the boob pic. Light switches and door trim matching in other photos. Then there was another comparison that took a photo from her instagram and matched the outfit to one of the boob pics.

I get the deny, deny, deny tactic. But really they should just not comment. Or comment like Mary Elizabeth Winstead did on twitter: "To those of you looking at photos I took with my husband years ago in the privacy of our home, hope you feel great about yourselves."

I like Apple as much as the next guy but they deserve to have the **** sued out of them.

While the cloud makes it easier because it's all centralized (as far as iCloud), this is just the same as going into someone's hard drive on their home computer.

I'm sorry, but anyone dumb enough to store nude pics of themselves in the cloud deserves to have them leaked.

When I take pics, I'm always aware of what goes to the cloud. For example, I've taken pics of my credit card or checking account but make sure I turn off wifi and delete them before they sync to the cloud.

People are dumb.

I feel sorry for those women. It's not just humiliating for them, I bet it could also hurt their livelihoods. That's real ****ed up. Sometimes it sucks to be famous.

For some reason this happening to Jennifer Lawrence bothers me the most. She is such a talent and I've loved her movies since Winter's Bone. She's a national treasure. The internet is a disgusting, scummy ass place, it bothers me that the mouth breathers that post on the 4chan and reddit porn pages are going to just go to town on these pictures. **** Apple.

It was my understanding that iCloud doesn't upload every second of every day...could be wrong tho. So a pic that is on your phone for 45 seconds is probably safe. And iCloud doesn't upload deleted files.

All of the pics on my phone are synced to the cloud. If I wanted to pay more money then I would sync everything on my phone to cloud as opposed to just things that are important to me (like pics).

I do this out of convenience. It's so much easier to turn on iCloud than it would be to manually back up to my home hard drive. I don't even have a desktop anymore and I barely use my laptop. It's just ipad and iPhone.

Why should one not think that their info is secure on the cloud? Should we do away with online banking and online stock trading and the thousands of other things that the internet has done to make life easier as well?

Why would you trust any cloud service? Using an ATM is not even safe

If you use credit card to buy stuff you deserve to have your identity stolen. Duh

I honestly feel this way.

My credit union has insurance. Just a month ago, they called me. My card was used in Rome. They knew something was up. I was refunded. I check my acct a couple times a day and have my card number changed frequently.

Hackers suck, but that's how it is now.

There's an assumption that these photos were removed from iCloud via a hacking "break-in". That's possible but there are other, much easier ways, by which the photos could have been obtained.

Agreed. I just read an article that stated that Jennifer Lawrence probably had her email hacked, another from snapchat, others via phishing in addition to the cloud.

Right, and as you later stated, your credit union gives you insurance if your card is used without authorization. Shouldn't Apple give some sort of assurance that your personal material won't be stolen? If your material is stolen, shouldn't they afford you some sort of concession.

Instead, we just get internet junkies saying, "Well that's what they get for taking nude pictures of themselves." Or "They trusted the cloud, duh."

That isn't right. Apple (or google or Dropbox or whatever cloud service) should be held accountable if someone's personal files get breached, plain and simple. These aren't multiple billion dollar companies for no reason. They should be better than this.

I agree with what you are saying to a point. Pictures aren't money. Using a credit card is one thing but I don't recall Apple guaranteeing my photos will be safe, that's why I don't put anything I wouldn't want anyone to see on there.
