End2round2sanders
Do you think the Giants said this kind of stuff when they got in at 9-7 last year and won the superbowl? This mentality is never going to get us anywhere. We are always going to say "next year" When you put yourself in a position like we've done, you have to ride the momentum and capitalize. We have the chance to win out and play in the post season. All bets are off from there. It could turn out to be something really special, or not. We'll never know if we play for next year though The Giants didn't have an Eli Manning with a knee injury at that time either. And I apologize for the Matt Flynn reference, GB did not trade him to Seattle. My mistake

zCommander
um no...Why would you concede a game down the stretch? If he can play effectively, he IS GOING to play we aren't the Iggles, we have plenty to play for Thanks for playing. But you still didn't answer what I REALLY wanted to know.

You need to win Sunday...badly IF YOUR BEST WEAPON IS AVAILABLE AND CAN BE EFFECTIVE, USE IT. I believe we drafted him to win games and get to postseasons right? or was it just to sell merch? lol
Bacon
Middle ground: start Kirk and bring Robert in if things get out of hand. SteveFromYellowstone
I think people are giving Cousins too much credit. I don't think we win this game with Cousins starting. Yeah he threw a great 2 passes, but he also threw 2 bad picks against the Falcons in a winnable game. If RG3 is able to play, he will.
The Diesel
With our defense we can't afford to start slow on offense and "see how it goes". If Griff is able to play, he needs to start. The paloffs is now!!

Springfield
I don't get the "start Kirk and bring Robert in if things are going badly" mentality. If Griffin is good enough to come in in a pinch then he should be good enough to start.

I think the probabilities of us getting into the playoffs are pretty low at 9-7...We would we need 2 losses down the stretch from either the g-men of bears...right (I don't see seattle losing to the 49ers and the rams, especially at home)? I think RG III playing effectively has a better chance of occurring then one of those scenarios playing out. Maybe the bears, lose at green bay...but they'd bring their A game against the cards and lions.
skins67
We have a very real shot at making the playoffs and you don't hinge something like that on some sort of Kirk Cousins evaluation day. We need our best and he isn't it. If he was our best he would have been the #2 overall pick and a current candidate for rookie of the year. He's a backup QB, with talent yes, but unless RG3 is injured to the point where he can't play, I don't see why you would hinge your entire season on the bet that he'll play a nice game. I think he would, he's a good young QB who will only get better, but you don't test him out for the first time during a run at the post season unless you have no other alternative. well If he isn't 100% out there then he isn't our best is he? Start kirk!!!

SkinsGuy
THANK YOU! I seriously can't believe some of the crap I'm reading! Un ****ing Believable! I was a big backer of the Strasburg move even if it meant limiting how well we did in the playoffs in exchange for his & the franchises LONG TERM health & success. I feel the same way about Robert. I could give two ****s if we make it to the playoffs or not, if it means giving Robert more than enough time to heal up!Say we start him against the Browns, and he hurts himself again, then what?? Say we start him and he has a monster game like he did against the Vikings when a lot of you wanted to sit him after his concussion? Why don't you let the Redskins and the doctors handle this and stop trying to be message board medical experts. ---------- Post added December-11th-2012 at 04:12 AM ---------- Would you like to try again? Then whatever you are reading about our playoff picture is wrong. The Redskins are still on the outside looking in on both the division race and the wildcard race. We are a game behind the Giants in the NFC East. They lose and we win, we will have first place by virtue of a better divisional record, but the Redskins have to keep winning. Same as with the wildcard. The Seahawks and Bears are both a game ahead of the Redskins. True, the Bears appear to be faltering, but we can't count on that. The Redskins have to keep winning games to keep pace. They can't afford to lose any game from here on out. Including against the Browns.

Without the snark remarks? From what I have been reading the Browns game is not important to our playoff picture. If you think it is then please back it up with facts. Thanks! The facts are we are one game back of the Giants for the Division lead and one game back of the Bears and Seahawks for a wild card. We beat the Giants for the NFC East if we win out and they lose 1 game based on our division record and we beat the Bears if they lose one game and we win out based on conference record. The Seahawks beat us if they lose one game and we win out based on common opponents record. Bottom line unless one of the Bears or Giants teams loses 2 games out of 3 games we need to win out to make the playoffs. This does not even take into account that Dallas is level with us on record but we have the tie break over them and have to play them again. Whatever way you look at the game against the Browns is vital and RGIII will play if he is able to. If he is not able to play then Cousins will start. Of course of there is a risk of long term damage that will be taken into account in making the decision but you cant wrap a football player not even a QB in cotton wool. Injuries are part of the sport as is playing hurt as long as you can still be effective.

You trust a doctor who is diagnosing a knee injury from a video? Yeah, now thats genius. I guess its better than Dr. James Andrews. Probably the most renowned knee specialist in the history of Medicine who happens to be our team doctor and actually looked at his knee...

Redskindon2
personally, we have Kirk Cousins for 4 years right?. keep him and groom him for a couple years. plus hes nice to have there if RG3 gets hurt. don't get greedy for draft picks so fast. we'll get good draft picks for him later& also with more experience. for now we need him as a backup plan to RG3 when he's hurt. This won't be the only time RG3 gets hurt. QB's get hurt period. keep him for a couple years then trade him for a 2nd rounder or more if he turns out to be better than we think.
